Chapter 2 Annie POV

" Earth to Annie , hello, ANNIE ". I jumped out of my daydream with a start. My friend Kate was looking at me laughing. " Are you OK today Annie , you've been dazing off a lot more than usual ? " she asked, still with humor in her tone. I looked infront of me and she had placed my next tray of drinks infront of me, to take to a table. " Yea , sorry. I didn't sleep much last night ", I told her, smiling sheepishly. " What's the reason this time ? The neighbours all night orgy , or your other neighbors' kids crying or was it your obsession with our mythical leader keeping you up again ? " I poked my tongue out at her. Kate always took the Mickey out of me because of my obsession with the Alpha king. She said it was more than stalkerish about how obsessed I was.

" The orgy " I lied. My next door neighbors were newly mated , and damn didn't everyone in the building know about it. She gave me a sympathetic look. " I told you to buy ear plugs " she said. I rolled my eyes at her. " Like they work with our hearing , plus it's not just the noise. Their bed backs onto mine , they shake the walls " she laughed as I picked up my tray , and took them over to the table they belonged to.

I cringed when I saw its occupants. Lewis and his creepy friends. Plastering on a fake smile , I broadened my shoulders. " Drinks " I said, announcing my arrival. I immediately felt his eyes on me. I slept with the guy once , a mistake. Big mistake , now he thinks it will be an arrangement between us. I wouldn't be wasting my time on him again. It was awkward , boring. Not his fault really , something inside of me was broken. I never really enjoyed s****l encounters. Since losing it two years ago , I can't say I have enjoyed it with any of the five guys I had given it to in hopes they would wake up that part of me. Or fix it. I can't say it was horrible , painful or seedy , nothing like that. Just boring , it never ended with what other girls told me it should end with. Kate wasn't shy in any aspect , and until she found her mate she had vowed to have a good time. She would tell me how most of the guys she had been with would rock her world , make her see spots. Kate was also graphic , that is how I knew I was broken. I had never felt what she describes as an orgasm.

I haven't told her that though, when she has seen me leave with a guy. I just tell her ' Yea it was good , or meh it was mediocre, or yep he rocked my world ' lies lies lies. I had told her Lewis was mediocre , even in my little experience I knew that. He was all for the big bang , not the build up.

" Annie , what time do you get off ? " never with you, I thought inside my head. Which made me smile. I realized it though, and looked up. He was grinning. s**t , he had thought that smile was for him. Not my sarcastic inner monologue. " Late ", I told him and tried to change the smile to, apologetic. " We are out until late ", his friends around him started making comments and laughing. I looked at them all with a tight smile. " Sorry plans with Kate ", they hollered and laughed at the fact I was shooting him down again. I wish he had just given up already , it really was becoming embarrassing. He scowled at the fact I had , and I quickly made haste away from the table.

Kate took one look at my face and looked around me. " Lewis " she cringed. I nodded , pushed the empty tray onto the bar and then flopped on it. She patted my head. " I told him me and you had plans , so don't leave without me " I told her. " Just tell him, You're not interested already Annie , you are such a tough cookie, but you sure do tip toe around people, " I rolled my head so I can look up at her. " He comes to where I work Kate , I can't cause a scene I need this job. I should have stuck to my rules and not hooked up with the guy that comes to this club. You know I would usually tell him to f**k off by now , but I can't not here. "

She gives me a would you really look , before picking up another order to pour. Then she walked off down the bar. Standing up straight, I turned around. The club was starting to get full now. Soon the quiet music that was playing in the background would switch up to loud and blaring. My job from table service will switch up to going behind the bar. Between certain hours it was kept as a sociable setting , then it would turn to party mode. I had tried to get off of the party hours from between eleven and four in the morning , but the manager would have none of it. I preferred the table service , tips were better. I wanted more sociable hours, maybe start at dinner time when food was served , and table service up to eleven. But the manager was having none of it. She said she needed me on this shift , because she kept her favorites on the other one. Me and she didn't really get on. She was an asshole and my face would tell her she was without my mouth having to do it.

The rest of the night remained usual , uneventful mainly. Lewis kept trying to talk to me whenever he came to the bar. Now table service had ended. I ended up with over a hundred in tips, so that was a good night. Kate didn't bother trying to pull anyone tonight , so at the end of our shift she made her way over to me. " Fancy crashing at mine tonight ? " she asked me. I looked at her like she was hanging the moon. I lived at the other end of the region , it took me half an hour's run to get home. Even on four paws, by the time I got home I would be deliriously tired from working and then running.

Kate only lived around the corner , and if she didn't pull a guy. I would crash with her. " I love you ", I tell her around a yawn. She rolls her eyes at me. " Yea , yea go get changed. I'll finish your station off " she said. She had already changed , I had been extremely busy and still had my sides to wipe down and my till to cash. I leaned forward and planted a kiss on her cheek. And she laughed " Go creep " she said as I sauntered off. Once I was changed, I came back out and she was waiting for me to just sign my float off. " You were spot on , as always. Just needs your signature " she grinned, handing me the pen. I never had differences in my till ever. Not like most of the bar servers who would be careless about counting out people's change. I signed it and she handed me the money tray. Turning around, I opened the shoot up and pushed the tray in , closing it and sending it down to the office. Ready for the asshole Megan tomorrow to count it.

" Let's go " we waved at the bouncers as they let us out of the building and I rolled my eyes when I saw Lewis hanging around. " Annie , I thought I would run home with you " he smiled. Kate huffed a laugh " Did she not tell you earlier we had plans ? " he looked at Kate. His eyes narrowed. Lewis likes to think he was born Alpha , but he was not.He wasn't even beta , more like gamma. But because he was a skilled fighter, he fought for the dark king. That was what gave Lewis a cocky attitude. He was swaying back and forth, which said he had consumed a lot of alcohol. It took wolves to consume a lot to feel the effects of it , so he has definitely given it a good go tonight.

" I'm busy, Lewis, " I told him, with as much authority as I could muster. But even though I was feisty and strong , I was only an omega wolf. Kate was too. He shook his head and laughed " You know you could do a lot worse, Annie , especially for someone like you. Your lucky I am even paying you attention ", he spat at me. Kate moved forward. " Like her , what is that supposed to mean ? "she asked angrily. He snared at her so I grabbed Kates arm, pulling her back. " Kate come on, let's go ", I said to her. I knew exactly what he meant. He didn't need to say it. I didn't need to hear it. I would rather just go.

" A runt orphan omega , street rat " he spat. Wow , me rejecting him really did sting his ego. Even though I had heard it a million times, it still cut deep. Kate went to pull forward and Lewis gave her a low rumbling growl as a warning. " Everything OK here ? "Kal the bouncer's voice said behind us asked. I breathed a sigh of relief. I would normally be as feisty as Kate. But I was tierd. And I knew when it would end badly. Lewis wasn't exactly a good guy. What had made me sleep with him I do not know. But I wouldn't put it past him to give us a slap , to show his dominance whether we were female omegas or not. Lewis didn't like disrespect , like most wolves.

" Naa man , these two sluts are not worth the hassle " Lewis snapped , now that a beta wolf was involved. He spat down at our feet and walked off. " You have such a good choice of men, Annie ", Kate said, watching him go. Didn't I know it? I turned and looked at Kal. " Thanks Kal " I smiled at him , he was a gentle giant. Especially with me and Kate. His nearly seven foot frame, his muscles on muscles , light brown skin and piercing green eye made for an intimidating figure. But he loved us , me especially. Called me his pocket rocket. " You stopping at Kate's ? " he asked me. I nodded and he held both arms out. " Well come on then ladies, let me escort you home ", he smiled. Me and Kate both laughed and then went and hooked our arms with his one on each side. And he walked us to Kate's. I knew he was doing it because if Lewis came back. Kal often ran beside me home. He grew up the same way I did , so he looked after me. I always offer him my sofa when he does , but he takes one look at the small thing, laughs, kisses me on the cheek and shifts back into his huge wolf and takes back off. He was like my big brother. Kate used to think we would end up dating , but nope. Kal wanted to find his mate.
