Ottilie POV
I struggled to open my eyes, the light was so bright but not in a horrible way, like the sun was shining directly on my face, the warmth of it was comforting. I could hear birds calling to each other gently as a soft breeze washed over me. Blinking furiously as I opened my eyes I realised I was outside, lying on the forest floor, curled up into the bare chest of someone. I turned as gently as I could and yelped as Alpha Damon’s piercing blue eyes met mine.
“Morning little wolf,” he said, clearly amused at my shock, “About time you woke up, I was beginning to worry there.”
I tried to sit up, realising too late that I was still wrapped up in Alpha Damon’s arms. He laughed, a deep belly laugh that made the ground shake before releasing me. I scrambled to my feet, shivering slightly as I took in my surroundings. We were in the deepest darkest depths of the forest, although where, I had absolutely no clue. There were probably rogues nearby and without my wolf, the last thing I wanted was to come across a pack of rogues. The only light came from breaks in the tree canopy and I shivered again. I was still in my dress from the previous night and it didn’t do much in terms of keeping me warm. My wolf would usually have done that for me but despite my pleas Ariana wouldn’t respond to my calls. My heart twisted in pain as I realised how much I must have hurt her.
Alpha Damon got to his feet, his whole naked self. I felt my whole face heat up as I averted my gaze. I’d seen Jamie and Harry naked but Alpha Damon was just as impressive if not more so. His rippling chest was enormous and covered in intricate tattoos. I wanted to run my hands over them, tracing them as they disappeared around his back. His n****e piercing glittered in a streak of sunlight and the defined v shape of his hips made my breath hitch.
He chuckled slightly before moving his hands to cover himself up, not that he did a particularly good job.
“Sorry little wolf, unexpected shifts usually mean a certain degree of nudity,” he said, grinning at me as I determinedly stared at a spot somewhere high above his head.
“Where are we?” I asked abruptly. “And why did you help me? You don’t even know me.”
“I know you more than you think Ottilie and it looked as if you needed rescuing back there,” he said softly. “My uncle and aunt are two of the shittiest people I know. I don’t know much about the triplets but from their reputation they’re arrogant, rude and weak - I didn’t trust them to defend your honour so I had to.”
A small part of me twisted up in pain at his words but I knew he was right. The triplets had had years to stand up for me, the only reason they were doing so now was because of the f*****g mate bond, if we hadn't been fated mates I would have been sold off to goddess knows who and they wouldn’t have given a flying f**k. I had expected the rejection to hurt more but maybe they should never have been my mates to begin with.
My resolve to never go back only hardened as I looked square at Alpha Damon.
“You haven’t answered my first question, where are we?” I said, far more confidently than I felt.
He smiled suddenly at my boldness, “On my pack lands little wolf, we arrived late and I didn’t want to cause a disturbance, I didn’t expect you to sleep this long though.”
He turned around suddenly and moved towards one of the larger trees, as if he was looking for something. Reaching into the bough of the tree where there was a little nook, he pulled out a bag of clothes and began to dress.
“We keep bags of clothes strategically placed throughout our lands just in case.” he said, in response to my confused expression.
I couldn’t help feeling disappointed when he pulled the tracksuit bottoms over his tight ass, it really was something. As if he could sense me staring he turned and grinned, throwing me an oversized jumper from the bag.
“Hang on a minute,” I said accusingly as I pulled it on, grateful for the added warmth, “if you had clothes nearby the whole time, why did you sleep next to me naked?”
He padded softly up to me and lifted my chin up gently, his hand caressing the side of my face. A delicious smell of cedar and honey washed over me.
“I didn’t want to wake you, you seemed exhausted and I fell asleep as Leo anyway, my wolf,” he added as I opened my mouth to ask who Leo was. “I figured he’d keep you a little warmer than I would. I must have shifted back in the night, I’ve never actually gone to sleep as Leo before,” he said, looking a bit confused.
I half smiled and nodded. “Ok, as long as you weren’t trying anything.”
“Oh little wolf,” he purred, “one, I like my women conscious and two, if I was trying something, you’d know about it.” He ran his hand down to my neck, stroking it gently with his fingers. His other hand caught my waist, making sparks fly throughout my body. It was so confusing, his touch sent me into a tailspin, a little like the triplets. A crack made us jump apart from each other and we both turned to see a man coming towards us.
“Alpha,” he bowed slightly to Alpha Damon. “I’m sorry for interrupting but your father wants to see you, he wants an update from last night.”
Alpha Damon nodded slightly and his face suddenly looked blank although something that looked like pain flashed across his bright blue eyes.
“Thanks Beta Jake, can you escort Ottilie to my apartment please?” He bent down and kissed me softly on the top of my head, “I won’t be long little wolf, Jake will look after you. We can pick up where we left off when I get back.”
A deep blush spread across my face as I watched him stalk off back through the woods.
“Ahem,” coughed the man behind me. “Miss Ottilie if you would follow me?”
“Of course, I’m so sorry,” I stumbled as I realised I was still in heels. I bent down and took them off quickly, before chasing after him. As I managed to catch up I looked up slyly at him, goddess he was attractive, I didn’t think I’d ever be attracted to a man with a shaved head but with his chiselled features it suited him. Intricate tattoos swirled up his arms disappearing into the rolled up sleeves of his shirt before reemerging from the top of his collar.
“See anything you like?” He said smiling as I realised he could see that I was checking him out.
“Oh goddess sorry,” I muttered, even more embarrassed than I had been before.
He let out a deep laugh, “It’s ok, just don’t let my mate see you sizing me up, she’s the jealous type.”
I let out a sigh of relief, somehow knowing he was mated made me relax a lot more, mated wolved were, at least in my experience, less of a threat.
We walked in silence, well he walked whilst I basically jogged to keep up with his long strides. As the forest began to thin out I could begin to make out buildings through the tree line, the sound of every day life filtering through to us. As we reached the edge of the tree line, I stopped suddenly. This was a new pack and I was terrified, what if these people hated me too? What if they knew who my parents were? Beta Jake turned around, sensing my hesitation.
“Sorry Beta Jake, it’s just a lot to take in at once, I’ve never left my pack and they weren’t particularly nice to me there” I tailed off as he looked at me kindly.
“It’s ok, Damon filled me in,” he said, “nobody will judge you here, I promise you that and if they do then I have a feeling Alpha Damon would make their life absolute hell.”
I nodded slightly, still nervous.
“Come on,” he said, offering his arm. “Walk with me, oh and please we don’t really use ranks here, unless we're in formal situations. Jake is just fine.” I nodded and took his arm.
“Ok, but then it's Ottilie, not Miss Ottilie.”
“Deal,” he said as we walked on out of the treeline and into the Blood Moon Pack.
It must have still been early as there weren’t that many people around. Those that did see us looked at me curiously but not unfriendly. I supposed I looked a bit of a state after having slept on the forest floor all evening, plus I was barefoot in an evening gown so I stuck out like a sore thumb.
I kept my head down as we walked through but I could see out of the corner of my eye that the pack was huge, the houses well built and the people seemed much happier than at the Silver Fang Pack as they greeted Jake. Alpha Marcus and Luna Maria ruled mostly by fear. I definitely wasn’t getting that vibe here. Jake guided me into a huge building that looked like one of the mansions from the books that I’d read, definitely not the traditional style packhouse I had been used to.
I was just beginning to relax when a large growl shook me to my very core.
“WHO THE F**K IS THAT JAKE?” The voice shouted and I whipped round to see a very tall, very beautiful, red-headed she wolf coming my way.
