Unexpected Guest

I've never been so scared in my life. He grabbed me as if I weighed nothing and held me against the panel of the garage still covering my mouth. My eyes are open wide but I was unable to see his face. "I'm going to removed my hand, don't scream,” ordered. That voice. There it is again. I couldn't see his face, but I knew that was the voice of Mr. Calloway. I nodded my head and he removed his hand and I didn't dare scream. "What the hell were you thinking coming out here all alone?" He whispered. Oh but he was so angry though. "How did you even know I was here?" We were so close and my body welcomed his warm heat. He suddenly grabbed my hand and pulled me towards his car. It was a black SUV with tinted windows and all black tires. He unlocked the door and ushered me to get in. Once I got in, he got into the driver seat but didn't start his vehicle. "You never answered my question?" I provoked, as the cool leather seats caught me off guard. "I don't have too. You're my employee,” he reminded me once again. Ugh, he got on my nerves. "Are you always like this?" I asked. "Like what exactly?" He turned towards me with a raised eyebrow. "An arrogant, asshole, jerk-" "Keep it up and I'll show you how much of an asshole I can be. Now, answer my question." He's going to be a pain in my ass. A fine pain in the ass. "I received an email about this particular fugitive and I accepted it." "Did you read the part about him being armed and dangerous, Ms. Knight?" "Of course I did, I'm not incompetent." I said. "Smart-ass." He says. I grunted. "Anyway, that's why I have my pepper spray and gun.” He burst out laughing. The way his lips curl into that luxurious smile showing all of his white teeth. This sexy ass man was laughing at me. "Ohhh wow, Ms. Knight." He failed at containing himself and he continuously laughed at me. "Mr. Calloway-" He put his hand up and caught his breath from all of the laughter. "Call me, Zane. We're technically off the clock." Zane. Zane Calloway. I said his name under my breath just to see how sounds. I imagined moaning his name and my God it was exotic. Wait. What? Why am I imagining me and him. I don't like him. What if he can read my mind? Omg. Gathering my composure, I looked at him and found him staring at my lips just for a split second before he looked back up. "But seriously Ms. Knight-" "Arielle, since we’re off the clock,” I smirked. He nodded. “Arielle.” Damn his voice was deep but smooth making body melt right in this seat. It's bad enough that we're alone again. "What was going to happen if he pulls out a weapon to shoot you?" I haven't thought of that because I was expecting this to be an easy catch. I probably would've had him if Zane didn't stop me. "I-i." I honestly didn't know what to say. I just sat there embarrassed about that fact I went in not thinking about what could've happened. "It was a $500,000 job and I knew that my dad wouldn't let me take this kind of job if he found out. He always wants to protect me." He gazed at me with an empathetic expression. Suddenly, more lights came on at Benjamin's home causing me to frown. "What?" He asked. "His lights are on.What if he was watching us the whole time?" I don't know what it was, but I suddenly had a bad feeling about this. "I won't let anyone or anything hurt you,” he promised, his expression was more serious. Abruptly, several eruption sounds filled the air. I frantically looked around to see that Benjamin was aiming at us. A few more shots rang out as we pulled off, but it was too late. There so much blood and I didn't know who it came from. "s**t,” Zane winced. I followed where his eyes were leading to and I gasped in fear. He was shot on his side. "Zane, you're shot!" "Take control of the wheel." He breathed out as his eyes started to flutter. I grabbed the wheel from the passenger seat and pulled over as he moved his foot down to the brake, stopping the vehicle. "No, no,no! STAY WITH ME!" I yelled. I looked him and he was unresponsive. "Zane?" I called. No answer and I tapped him trying to keep him awake. "Zane? Why did you have to find me?" I said as guilt took over me. I got out of the truck and ran over to his side. Opening the door, there was a lot of blood and Zane was still unconscious. He was hit twice in his side mere inches apart. I was afraid for him. Afraid that he was going to bleed out. I checked for his pulse while I was trying to stop the bleeding. It was faint and I let out a breath, grateful that he's alive. I looked for something to help stop the bleeding so I could move him and drive. I checked his back seat and was lucky enough to find a first aid kit. I used the items that was in the small box and wrapped his wound. Once I was finished, I lifted him out of the truck, stumbling around to the passenger side. He was in and out of consciousness. "Ari,” he called. It was barely a whisper. "We're going to a hospital,” I commanded. "No. No hospitals." "Zane, please you're bleeding. Help me get you into the truck." I had the passenger door open and he grabbed on to the handle inside the truck to help me guide him in. I pulled out my phone and called Riley since she’s a nurse. "Hey how was the mission?" She asked when she picked up the phone. I didn’t know how I was going to explain this, but I needed help. "I need your help. Zane was shot,” I panicked and I could hear her gasp. "Ari, where are you and how did you end up with your boss?" She asked. "I promise I will tell you later but I need you,” I pleaded. "Okay send me your location and I'll be there." I hung up the phone and sent my location and now it was just a waiting game. "Ari?" Zane called. My heart skipped a beat. "I'm here. Help is on the way,” I grabbed his hand and they were cold and stiff. "Why would you be here Zane? This was suppose to happen to me." I didn't even realize that I was crying. "I'm going to be okay. Don't cry." He tried to wipe my tears away with his bloody hand. Riley arrived and she instantly pulled out her medical supplies. He was unconscious as she injected him with anesthesia and instantly began removing the bullets. She removed two golden bullets and sown him back up. Once she was finished, she pulled me to the side. "What the hell happened?" "You know, I was on a mission but Zane found out and was here before me. We were sitting in his car before shots rang out and Zane pulled off but he was already hit." That was the short version. I looked back over to the truck and he was still asleep. Riley pulled me in for hug. “I'm just glad you're okay." "Me too.” She instructed me to take Zane to my house and keep an eye on him. She also gave me pain meds that will help during his recovery. "Thank you, Ri. Thank you for everything." "You know I'll do anything my for you. Call me as soon as you get home,” she packed up her supplies. I nodded, “I will.” The drive back was a lot quicker than I expected. Grateful for private entry and a garage, I parked his truck inside my garage. Once I made it on the passenger side, I pulled Zane's heavy body. It took a while to get him in the house and I was finally able to get him on my couch. I caught my breath before beginning to remove his clothes. Dirty thoughts about his body flooded my head and I shook them away. I got him down to his boxers and covered him with a blanket. But his body made my womanhood wake up. I pulled out my phone and called Riley. "Hey,” she whispered. I sat on my sofa and let out a breath, “Hey, I'm home." "Oh good. I'm glad you made it. How is he doing?" "He's still asleep,” I answered. "Okay. Make sure you give him his pain meds and make sure he eats. Start off light and then work your way to heavier foods,” she advised. "I will. I don't know how I would've done this without you. Thank you so much." I was extremely grateful that she went out of her way to help me. "Get some rest hun and call me tomorrow." "Okay, love you,” I said. "Love you more." We ended the call and I headed towards the bathroom and turned on the shower. I waited until it was hot enough for me to step in. I was in there a good twenty minutes washing away all of tonight's activities. After I got out, I didn't bother to dry my hair. I put on some shorts and a t-shirt and carried some heavy blankets for Zane and I to the living room and sat in the recliner. I looked over at my unexpected guest one more time before darkness took over me.
