Chapter 7 On the ninth floor Stryker and Mira exited into a glass-domed lobby that overlooked the entire valley. The sight of it took Mira’s breath away. Twinkling lights above and below her from the unobstructed sky and bustling city were a pleasant distraction. “Wait right here,” Stryker said. Mira grunted in agreement, but didn’t turn to see him ducking into a set of double doors opposite of the elevator. She could hardly take her eyes off of the beauty before her. Mira could see why they chose to stay here, apart from the humans. Not just to avoid the subjugation of her race – though why they had never gone back and fought for the survivors was an angering mystery to her – but for the human’s lack of attachment to nature.
