“Do you think, Miss Raina,” he asked her, “’e’ll be enlargin’ the stables?”
“I would expect so, Ned. His Lordship is very keen on horses. But you know as well as I do that the stables need repairing and that will have to be done before they can accommodate any more occupants.”
“If you asks me, there be a whole lot to be done everywhere,” Ned replied. “Me mother’s cottage be a real disgrace. The rain comes in and the windows be fallin’ out from old age.”
“I feel sure the Earl will see to everything, Ned. At the same time Raina felt worried.
