CHAPTER FOURRania woke early and remembered that she wanted to go riding.
She had put her riding habit ready last night and it did not take her long to slip into it.
Then she went downstairs realising that the curtains were not drawn. She was very certain that Barker and Mrs. Barker were sleeping late after the exhaustion of the dinner party last night.
She pulled back both the bolts of the front door, let herself out and hurried to the stables.
There was only one sleepy groom, rubbing his eyes when she appeared.
“Has his Lordship come out yet?” Raina asked him.
“Aye, ’e goes orf a few minutes ago,” he replied.
