Warrick's P.O.V.
I honestly thought after the break-through that I had with Elizabeth the other day, that she'd come to visit me more often. However, here we are, six days later, and I haven't seen even a hint of her. She kept her word about having someone bring me something to bathe with and also about having them change the bucket out, but the rancid smell from the illusion spell that is up is still stiff in the room. I could easily take the illusion spell down myself, but I never know when someone is going to come into the room and I don't want them to notice that it's gone. Chadwick told me to be smart about how I use my magic, so I'm trying to do just that. I would give myself away if I got rid of the spell and I would also use energy trying to take it down. Both of which I can't afford to do right now.
The doors clang open, only to reveal an angry-looking Carter walking into the room again. He's been visiting me for the past three days, asking me to relieve him of the command I gave him to not touch Elizabeth. I just laugh at him every single time, which just pisses him off even more and makes him stomp out of the room. He looks like a child who's throwing a tantrum when he doesn't get his way, and it makes me wonder what my beautiful mate ever saw in him. However, I'm starting to question whether or not Elizabeth is avoiding me because she still wants to reject me and take Carter as her chosen mate. It would explain why he's been visiting me and trying to get me to drop the command.
"Warrick." he seethes out between clenched teeth.
I casually smile at him as I cross my arms over my chest, "Carter. How are you doing today? How's the weather outside?"
He rolls his eyes at me, before stepping closer to my cell, "Stop with the bullcrap, Warrick. You know why I'm here. Drop the damn command. Lizzie and I chose to be each other's mates long ago and we still plan on it, even with you in the picture now."
"Well, if that's true, then you can tell Lizzie to come tell me that herself." I tell him as I shrug my shoulders, before turning around and walking to the other side of the room.
Carter lets out an angry growl, "Lizzie is currently preoccupied and doesn't want to see you. She said that you dropping the command would take a lot off of her plate and make things go back to normal a little."
I turn back and look at him with furrowed brows, before I let out an angry chuckle, "You really must think I'm stupid, huh, Carter? If this is what Elizabeth truly wants, then she can come tell me that herself. Until then, the command is staying in place. Let me be very clear to you about my intentions and why I have the command up in the first place. Elizabeth is MY mate, and it is MY JOB to protect her until she is no longer my mate. I will protect her however I can, until she rejects me and I accept the rejection. Because of this, I put that command in place, not because I'm being petty, but because I don't trust you. You see, not only can you not touch my mate intimately because of the command, but you also can't touch her in any other way, either. You can't hit her, or push her, or slap her, or try to force yourself onto her. So no, I will not drop the command, no matter how many times you come in here to ask, until Elizabeth comes in and rejects me herself and tells me that she truly wants you as her chosen mate. Even then, I'm still not promising you that I'll accept her rejection or drop the command, because I won't know whether or not you coerced her into doing it."
"YOU CAN'T JUST CONTROL EVERYTHING BECAUSE YOU'RE THE HIGH AND MIGHTY TRIBRID HEIR, WARRICK!" he roars out as his eyes flash back and forth between his and his wolf's.
I let out an amused snort as I watch his usual tantrum unfold, before dropping my hands to my sides and shoving them into my pockets, "If you won't let me see Elizabeth, then at least bring Zeke in here for me to talk to."
"Zeke is busy too." he says to me as he crosses his arms over his chest.
Chadwick suddenly pops into the front of my mind as he glares at Carter, who is shuffling nervously back and forth on his feet, 'Something isn't right, Warrick. You need to read his mind. I know I told you to save your powers, but we need to know what's going on.'
I squint my eyes at Carter, before turning around towards the back of the cell so he can't see my eyes change colors, "Carter, where are Elizabeth and Zeke?"
"Like I said, they're busy." he says to me while his heart rate picks up a little, "We have normal jobs that we have to go to outside of the pack, to be able to pay bills and take care of our other living necessities."
As soon as he says it, there it is. A memory flash of Elizabeth, Zeke and I'm assuming, Delilah, being locked up in a room somewhere. I close my eyes and take a deep, steady breath, before turning back towards Carter. Carter takes a step away from me as he bares his neck, because my aura has already consumed me and is now overpowering the entire room.
"BRING ME MY MATE OR GAMMA ZEKE NOW, CARTER, AND DON'T TELL ANYONE WHAT YOU'RE DOING!!!" I roar out at him, making the walls around us shake.
Carter stares at me with wide eyes for a few seconds, before he lets out a frustrated growl and stomps out of the room, slamming the door closed behind him. Something has happened within the past six days and I need to know what. Why are Elizabeth, Zeke and Delilah being locked up in a room somewhere? They didn't look like they had been tortured or anything. They just looked like they were being held captive. Something happened after Elizabeth left this room the other day after she talked to her mom. Chadwick, Tucker and Zedidiah are all pacing back and forth in my mind, as I pace back and forth in my cell. Every single one of us is on edge right now, not knowing what's going on. I should've commanded him to specifically get Elizabeth, because I need to see her and know that she's okay, but in all honesty, I need him to bring me Zeke instead. If he brings me Zeke, I'll be able to focus more without being distracted by the mate-bond. There won't be any emotions and I'll get more answers that way. Plus, from what I've seen, Zeke is a pretty cut and dry, to the point type of guy.
After eighteen minutes, and yes it was eighteen minutes because I counted, the door to the room clangs open, with Carter pulling Zeke behind him. I take in Zeke's appearance as he stands behind Carter with his shoulders slumped. He has chains around his wrists and ankles, he has dark circles under his eyes, and he looks like he's lost weight. He doesn't look good, but at least I don't see any bruises or marks on him.
"Is this how you treat your pack members?" I spit out at Carter as I look back at him with narrowed eyes.
Carter laughs dryly at me, "Only the ones who turn their backs on the pack."
I clench my jaw in rage as I stare at him, while I quickly find Chadwick in my mind, "Chadwick, I'm about to..."
"You don't even have to explain. Do it, Warrick." Chadwick says to me as he stares at Carter as well, with Rage.
I lift my hand and telepathically pull Carter through the air towards me and slam him against the silver cell bars. His face presses against the silver, and it instantly burns against his flesh. I lift my other hand and magically unlock the cell door, before pulling him into the cell with me and violently throwing him into the corner of the room. His body hits the wall and it knocks him out instantly, before he falls to the floor. I walk out of the cell and lock it behind me, before facing Zeke.
Zeke stares at me with wide eyes, before he starts to chuckle and shake his head, "How long, Warrick?"
"How long what, Zeke?" I casually ask him.
Zeke squints his eyes at me as a smirk pulls at his lips, "How long have you been able to use your powers?"
I shrug my shoulders at him, "Ever since you and Elizabeth were last here."
Zeke lifts his hands towards me, silently asking me to unlock his chains, "And how exactly did you get them back?"
I smile and look down at the chains as I wave my hand at them, before looking back up at him once they fall to the ground with a clank, "Now, I can't tell you all of my secrets, can I?"
He lets out a snort of laughter as he shakes his head, "Can you unlock the ones on my ankles, as well? Carter still has the key in his pocket."
I wave my hand at the chains on his ankles, before looking back up at him with furrowed brows once they fall off, "Does he have a key to the cell?"
Zeke shakes his head, "No, there's only one key to the cell and it stays in that cabinet." Zeke says as he points to the cabinet on the other side of the room, the one that I saw him get the key from the other day.
I turn towards the door that leads out of the room, before lifting my hand and flicking my wrist to lock it, "Now, we can talk freely. No one will come in here. What the hell has been going on? I read Carter's mind and saw where you and Elizabeth were being locked in a room with some other girl, who I assume is Delilah."
Zeke nods his head at me as he lets out a frustrated sigh, "Yeah, that's Delilah. When we left the other day, Elizabeth went back to her room to take a nap. The conversation with her mom just drained her emotionally, so she was pretty tired. I guess she locked the door to the room because she wanted some peace and quiet. Well, Carter and her share a room, and he couldn't get in for like thirty minutes. Between you commanding him not to touch her anymore and her locking him out of their room, he just went completely insane. At first, he was just throwing one of his rage-filled tantrums by banging on the door and screaming. We heard the yelling going on down the hallway, so Delilah went to check it out. When she got there, she saw what was happening. She told Lizzie that she wasn't going to be staying in that room with him anymore and that Lizzie was coming to stay with us. Delilah said that Carter kept quiet the entire time they packed up Lizzie's bag so that she could move to our room. She said that he just laid on the bed and watched the two of them without saying a single word. Delilah even told me later on that he was eerily calm, scary calm, but we didn't think anything of it at the time. When Delilah and Lizzie got back to our room, Lizzie and I started explaining to Delilah everything that was going on with you. Then, Lizzie told us that your mom visited her in her sleep, while she was taking a nap..."
I pull my head back in confusion at hearing that, "Wait, my mom doesn't have that power. Elizabeth had to have been dreaming. My mom's never been able to visit anyone in their dreams before." I say, interrupting him from explaining anything further.
Zeke shrugs his shoulders at me, "Lizzie made sure to ask Athena if it was a dream or magic. Athena told Lizzie that The Moon Goddess had visited her right after she was done using you as a host here, and that she gave Athena a one-time magical ability to be able to teleport herself into someone's dream, after Selene told Athena everything that was happening. Athena even went as far as to telling Lizzie that she was calling off the search parties for you. Something that you asked Selene to ask her to do apparently?"
I let out a small sigh and nod my head, "Yeah, I asked Selene to relay that specific message to my mom. Which means that my mom actually DID visit Elizabeth while she was sleeping."
"Why would you ask your mom to call off the search parties for you? You are, or were, being held captive. Don't you want them to find you?" he asks me as he stares at me in confusion.
I hear Carter start mumbling from the other side of the room, which means he's waking up. Zeke and I both look at him in annoyance, right before he starts yelling at us to let him out of the cell. I quickly throw my hand up at him and mute him, before turning back to Zeke and massaging my fingers against my forehead.
"I can explain all of that to you later. All I can tell you in front of HIM, is that I did it because I'm meant to be here for some reason. I didn't want anyone getting hurt." I tell him, before letting out a frustrated sigh, "How are you guys being contained in the room, exactly? How are you guys being locked up?"
Zeke looks at me with curiosity, "What does that have to do with anything? I can't get back to the room without Carter escorting me, because everyone knows I'm supposed to be locked up and they'll know something isn't right. You can't just go walking through the apartment without others noticing you either, well, for obvious reasons. We can't get the girls out from here."
"Damn it, Zeke, just answer the question! How exactly did they lock you guys in the room? Did they chain you up with silver chains, like the ones you were just wearing? Is the whole room surrounded by a magical barrier? How exactly did they do it? It's important." I ask him as I wave my arms around impatiently.
Zeke looks around the room as he thinks about it for a few seconds, before he looks back at me, "They just used a barrier on the door because the room doesn't have windows to escape from. We can't just shift and knock down a wall or anything to escape, because they would hear it and be able to stop us before we would be able to break through it."
I snort out a laugh as I shake my head, "Amateurs." I say before looking back at him, "You can explain later why you guys are locked up exactly, once we get inside of your guys' room. Right now though, I'm going to focus on Elizabeth and teleport us to her. Surely she's still locked up in that room, right?"
Zeke nods at me, "Yeah, she should be. We haven't been out of it since they locked us up six days ago."
"Okay, just one last thing I want to do before we leave." I tell him, before walking towards the cell and looking at Carter.
Carter is still screaming at me, even though I can't hear him. Zeke is right, he's gone completely insane. He knows that no sound is coming out, yet here he is, still trying to violently scream at me. I lift my hands and close my eyes, before slowly moving them in front of my entire body, from head to toe. I open my eyes and look back at Carter, before lifting my hands and slowly moving them from his head to his toes. Within seconds, Carter changes into an exact replica of me. I take a deep breath as I stare at him, suddenly feeling my powerful aura come forward.
"CARTER, YOU WILL NOT SPEAK TO ANYONE, FROM HERE ON OUT, UNTIL I TELL YOU OTHERWISE." I command him in my tribrid aura, which makes him quickly shut his mouth and bare his neck.
Zeke walks up beside me and stares at Carter, before turning back to me while chuckling, "I don't know why we ever thought we could defeat you. You've been holding out on us." he says as he claps my back.
"You guys haven't seen anything yet." I say as I chuckle at him, "Come on, let's go see our girls."
With that, I focus on Elizabeth's beautiful face, before opening a portal to wherever she is at the moment.
