Warrick's P.O.V.
I've tried everything to make this migraine go away that Tucker is causing. I've tried using my magic, I've tried caffeine, I've tried icepacks, I've tried a cold shower, I've tried over-the-counter medicines and even an herbal concoction that my Great-grandma Rosemary made for me. Nothing seems to work; nothing even comes close to touching it. Now, I'm just lying in my room with the door locked, in complete darkness. Tucker will not stop howling in my head. I've asked my warlock, Chadwick, and my vampire, Zedidiah, to help me get him to shut up, but they're being almost just as emotional as he is for some reason. The difference between the three of them, though, is that Tucker is the loudest and most obnoxious one, whereas Zedidiah always just sits back and laughs at the drama between the four of us, while Chadwick only speaks when he finds it necessary. I could talk to The Moon Goddess directly and ask her to help me out, but I hate bothering her about such petty things. A soft knock on my door makes me wince at the sudden noise, before I let out a frustrated groan and get up to open the door anyway.
"Your father told me that you're having some trouble getting rid of your headache, and that Tucker is the reason for it. Mind if I come in? I might be able to help." my mom says to me, before giving me a soft smile.
I wave my arm towards my room to give her access, "Sure. I doubt there's anything you can do, though. I have all of the same powers as you, so I can go ahead and assure you that if you are thinking of trying something magical, I've already tried it."
My mom chuckles as she walks to my bed and sits down, "No, sweetheart, I think this might be a little simpler than using magic."
I furrow my brows at her, "What do you mean? I've tried everything, mom." I tell her as I sit beside her, before massaging my fingertips against my temples.
She lets out a soft breath as she gently rubs her hands against her pregnant stomach, "I think that you just need to talk to Tucker is all, Warrick."
"Mom, I've tried telling him to be quiet and to stop his nonstop whining. He won't listen to me." I tell her as I look back up at her, before letting out a frustrated breath.
She shakes her head at me and rolls her eyes, as she continues to stroke her palm up and down her swollen stomach, "I never said anything about TELLING him what to do, Warrick Anthony Jacob. I said to TALK to him. You'd think, with you being almost eighteen, that I wouldn't have to explain this to you. Your counterparts all have their own personalities and need to be listened to sometimes, as well." she explains to me, before looking at my door and letting out a small chuckle, "You're just like your father, I swear. I had to explain the same thing to him years ago."
My mouth tugs up at the corner into a small smile, "What do you mean? What did dad do?"
Mom looks back at me with a soft smile on her face, "Oh, honey, it was years ago. Before you were even born, actually. It was right after your father transitioned and gained his magic. He had so much trouble controlling it. I for sure thought that he was going to burn the pack-house down one day." she says as she lets out a small laugh, before turning to look at the doorway again, "Turns out, Demetri was just being stubborn. Since your father had been a werewolf his entire life before I marked him, Demetri had a hard time getting accustomed to sharing your father's mind with Conrad and Victor. He would try to control them and push them away, especially when your father was trying to use his magic. It made it to where your father did some crazy things when it came to his magic, because Demetri was essentially tampering with it."
I laugh at that as I look at the doorway as well, noticing that dad is leaning against it and listening to us, "Is that true, dad?"
Dad nods his head at me as he lets out a small chuckle, "Yeah, if I have it right, I think that he told me that he thought the 'stupid warlock' was having problems controlling his own magic, so Demetri was just trying to stop him from causing any more problems." Dad says as he puts his hand up to his mouth like he's thinking about something, before snapping his fingers, "Then he proceeded to call them obnoxious and arrogant, before saying that they were both assholes."
I let out a loud laugh, "He said that?!"
"Yeah, he did. Kind of ironic, though, seeing as Demetri is the most obnoxious and arrogant one out of all three of them, as well as the biggest asshole." Dad tells me as he smirks, before his eyes glaze over for a second and he starts laughing right after.
"What did Demetri just say to you, hon?" Mom asks as she chuckles at him, knowing that Demetri can be quite the character sometimes.
Dad lets out a small snort as he shoves his hands into his jean pockets, "He said 'Someone has to be the one to put their foot down, or Athena would get her way with everything'. Then proceeded to call me, Conrad and Victor a bunch of softies."
Mom scoffs at him, "I am carrying your guys' fourth pup! I think I've earned my right to be spoiled and get my way with everything! You tell Demetri that when he's able to carry one of our pups on his own, then we'll talk!"
Dad chuckles at her as he walks over to her, before cupping her face between his palms and placing a gentle kiss on her forehead, "I don't have to tell him, sweetheart. He heard you loud and clear." he whispers against her forehead, before pulling away and chuckling again, "I think the entire pack-house heard you loud and clear, baby girl."
Mom squints her eyes at him, before magically opening a portal behind him and throwing her hands towards him to push him backwards through it. Dad's face quickly turns to one of shock as he falls through it, before I see the portal close again. I stare at the blank space in my room where the portal was, only seconds before, before barking out in hysterical laughter at the sight of dad's face.
"Where...where did you...where did you send him?" I ask her as I wipe away the tears that formed in my eyes from laughing so hard.
Mom chuckles as she looks back at me, "Somewhere where he will be stuck for a while; Gavin's office. Gavin will talk his ear off for an hour before he will finally be able to escape him."
I shake my head at my mom, "You're very strategic when it comes to evil schemes. You know that, right?"
"I've had a lot of practice. I've also been with your father for a long time, so I know what gets under his skin the most, which is my baby brother." she explains to me, before clapping her hands together like she's knocking off imaginary dust, "Anyway, as I was saying, just talk to Tucker and hear him out. I'm sure that whatever is making him act the way he is, can be easily fixed."
I nod my head at her, which makes her give me a quick kiss on the cheek, before standing up and walking out of my room. I watch her close the door behind her, before letting out a soft sigh and laying back down on my bed. I'm staring at the ceiling, listening to him howl endlessly as I wait for an opening to get his attention.
"Tucker?" I call out gently, when he finally takes a break from howling.
Tucker walks to the front of my mind with his shoulders slumped, "Yeah?"
"What's going on, dude? Why are you going crazy?" I ask him.
Tucker lets out a small whimper, "We can all feel her. She's close."
I furrow my brows at hearing that, before sitting up, "Who's close?"
"Mate." he whimpers out again.
I look around the room, confused, because I don't understand what he's even talking about, "I've literally been looking around the school all day trying to get a feeling of who our mate might be, but you turn your nose up at every single she-wolf I make eye contact with."
Tucker lets out a frustrated huff, before flopping down on his stomach, "I don't think she's at the school."
"Where is she, then? She has to be close if you can feel her." I ask him as I run my hands through my hair in frustration.
Tucker lets out another small whimper without saying anything, before I see Chadwick walk up beside him and start petting his fur, "We seriously don't know where she is, Warrick. She's close, but not close enough. The feeling of the bond is extremely faint, but we can all still sense her."
"Well, I still have three and a half more days until my eighteenth birthday, so that would explain that. She might actually be a classmate of mine, but you just can't feel the full mate-bond yet because I'm not eighteen." I tell him, before rolling my eyes at all three of them, "Can you three just calm down until my birthday? I'm sure that we will find her and feel the full mate-bond then. I won't make it to my eighteenth birthday if I don't survive this migraine that Tucker is causing, though."
Zedidiah walks up beside them as he rolls his eyes at me, "Stop being so melodramatic, Warrick. You won't DIE from a simple headache. If it helps, Chadwick and I will try to keep Tucker under control for the next few days, though."
I scoff at all of them, "I might not die from a headache, but it sure as hell will keep me from attending school if I can't function properly. Which means, if our mate is a classmate of mine, we will miss out on finding out who she is if I'm not there."
Tucker perks his ears up at that, "I'm sorry, Warrick. I'll calm down, I promise. Just don't miss school. We have to find mate."
I nod my head at him, "Thank you!"
All three of them walk back into the darkness of my mind together. Usually, at least one of them is in the front hanging about, but I guess they all decided I needed a break from them. My migraine is still there thanks to Tucker's whining all day, but I finally have a little relief now that it's nothing but quiet in my room. I close my eyes and take in a relieved breath, before exhaling slowly. Then, I start to think about what they told me. Our mate is somewhere near, which means that she's more than likely from this pack. Who could it be, though? Tucker made his disapproval very loud and clear today, with every single she-wolf at my school that I laid eyes on. Could she be an older un-mated she-wolf?
I grimace at that thought as I sit back up on my bed. There are a few good-looking, un-mated she-wolves that live within our pack, but none of them are what I want in a mate. I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but all of them are completely desperate at this point. They've spent who knows how many years without finding their mate, which means, they'll be too submissive for my liking if they are fated to me. I want someone who challenges me, who doesn't think anything of my alpha title, who won't see me as just The Supernatural Guardian's son. What I want in a mate, is something that's not even possible, at this point. Everyone in the world knows who my parents are. There's not a she-wolf in existence who won't see me for exactly what I am; the first heir of the true tribrid bloodline, the tribrid alpha who can speak directly to The Moon Goddess, the child that my mother was pregnant with when she took out all of the evil in the world.
I will never in my life be lucky enough to find a mate that doesn't put me on a pedestal for all of my titles.
