Chapter 16

Derek's POV I laid on my bed staring at the ceiling. This is it! This is finally the time. I got my wolf. But to tame it, I got to be stronger. I need to learn about controlling the strongest wolf. I am glad I have my dad to train me. And mom, to teach me element power things. Damn! I am just too proud of them. The door creaked and I waited for Abigail to barge in but the familiar scent at an odd place made my eyes wide. There stood Lana looking at me with concern. But how is she here? I mean...this is werewolf pack lands and they don't allow humans that easily, do they? "How are you?" She asked me with her eyes full of worry. "How did you get in here?" I asked. "Shut up you silly! Is this another planet?" She laughed. "Kian said that you can't come to school because you are sick. So I thought to just come and visit you. Why? Can't I come?" She asked with those big green eyes. I smiled and shook my head, making her smile as well. I patted the empty space on the bed gesturing to her to come sit and she did. She didn't even care about the distance but came to check on me. I guess I gained another lifetime friend. "Hey greenie," Kian said, making Kevin snort. "Jeez! Stop calling me that" she glared at both of them. "Did you meet everyone downstairs?" Kian asked again. My eyes went wide again. I mean.. dad can be a little grumpy about humans. I could only hope he didn't act rude. "Oh! They are so good looking. They look like they came straight out of magazines!" She said in amusement. Werewolves do look hot, which comes as one of the perks! I smiled looking at her. But her smile suddenly turned into a frown. "What's wrong?" I asked her. "But it seems like your family doesn't like me," she whispered. Like I thought, they are a little sceptical that she is a human. If they see her like I saw, they would like her in no time. "Maybe that's because you are new." I shrugged that made her shrug as well. We four talked a lot and to be honest, it felt good. Just us, laughing and having fun. Mom sent us some snacks to munch on. But not even once mom or dad came to check on me. Abigail came and said they were busy so I let it slide. I don't know what kept them busy. "Ok! I'll leave now. Verna will get mad if I don't reach home on time" Lana rolled her eyes. I smiled and nodded again. Kian and Kevin bid her bye as well. "We'll get down with you!" Kian offered for which she politely denied. "I'll find my way. Thanks. You stay with him." She gestured to me. And soon enough she left. "She is so kind to check on you!" Kevin said. She is indeed so kind. I just wish my parents could see that. They will like her. They will accept her just like they accepted Uncle Tal as close friend. “Hi” I heard a voice and I momentarily panicked. "What's wrong?" Kian was beside me in an instant. "I mindlinked the King and Queen! They'll be here!!" Kevin said and I nodded. "Derek! You okay?" Mom came barged in. "I- I heard a voice. In my head" I whispered. Dad and mom looked at each other and smiled. Is this just a silly problem to them? "That's your wolf trying to communicate with you. Just greet him back!" Dad nudged me, making me smile. Oh! That's my wolf then. No wonder my parents were smiling. Maybe I looked like a fool panicking while my wolf just said hi to me. I feel so embarrassed. “You don't have to feel embarrassed!” The voice said again. "How do I communicate with my wolf?" I asked dad. "Just focus on the voice and talk to it without using your mouth! It's all here" he said, gesturing his head. I closed my eyes and focused on my wolf's voice. "Umm.. hello?" "Hey there Derek! I am Abel" "Abel! Woah...you got a nice name there!!" "And so do you!" I laughed! My wolf seems cooler. I was worried that it would be grumpy but it's a lot friendlier and a lot cooler. "Dad! He is awesome!!" I exclaimed, making everyone in the room laugh. "Now! Just sleep. So you can get better at running with your wolf" Dad said. . . . . . . . "Mom! I am fine. I just need a run with my wolf" I tried to explain her. "Promise me that you'll stay safe!" She looked up at me and now I can feel the Lunar Wolf vibes pouring out of her. Damn! She is intimidating as much as dad. It takes a wolf to see that!! "I will mom. Dad is going to be with me too. So it's fine!!" I said "How about you join us too?" Dad asked mom. "Yeah! That would be fun mom! I want to see your wolf. I am so curious" I asked with amusement brimming in my eyes. "Ok" she shrugged and we walked to the clearing. The way to the clearing was delightful since the talk was about the wolves. Mom and dad never allowed me to watch pack runs. I was always curious to see how my mom and dad's wolves looked! Within no time, we reached the clearing. Kevin,Kian, Abigail, Rose and I used to play silly games here years ago. As time passed by , school kept us busy. The last time I visited this place was during the Alpha Party. The Party where my whole existence made sense to me. "Ready?" My mom asked me with a smile. "But.. I don't know how to shift." I shrugged. "Well, your wolf does!" Dad said with a laugh. Yeah! I get it. Since it's the oldest wolf he knows how to shift. But I am new to this. "Hey! Did you just call me old?" His voice rang in my head. " Welcome back, Old man!" I answered. "Whatever you little wittle" He said with an eye roll. "Ok! Just close your eyes and focus on your wolf form. Remember, all your focus should be on your wolf!" Mom said. I closed my eyes and did what I was told. I could feel my bones snapping and twisting. The pain was a lot better than the first shift. It was bearable so it was fine. I was soon standing on 4 paws and that's when I opened my eyes. Abel let me see the world through his eyes. Everything was a lot more clear. I could see the fine dust on the grass and the little water droplets on the edges of the twigs. I looked at the sky and it was clear with a pleasant atmosphere. I glanced at my parents who had proud smiles on their faces. But they seemed so tiny to me. Maybe because they are in human form. Dad shifted in an instant and before me stood a Midnight Black wolf with blue eyes. Damn! His wolf is fierce. Any wolf would submit to his wolf without a fight. Mom went behind a bush and I heard bones snapping. Out walked a beautiful snow white wolf with black eyes with gold specs. I have to admit! She is beautiful!! And her wolf is intimidating as well. I looked at my paws and I saw my wolf was almost grey. It's like a mixture of white and black. My parent's wolves! Dad's wolf tilted his head to the right. What is he trying to say? "Time to run you dimwit! It's time you learn wolf language" Abel spoke. " Jeez! Ok old man. Now run and show me what you've got!!" I said with excitement. And with that, my wolf sprinted followed by mom and dad.
