CHAPTER SIX“I must see you alone.” The Duke whispered the words to Lily as they walked round the garden after luncheon on Sunday, admiring the herbaceous borders brilliant with colour, the Rose Gardens fragrant with the scent of a thousand roses and the fountains sparkling high in the sunlight. “It’s impossible.
