I sat on the edge of the bed, staring at the mess I had made of Nikolai's phone. He was out of the room, putting a few things together, and I just sat there, staring into nothing. There was this blank feeling in my chest. This emptiness that was threatening to swallow me whole, the sort that not even Nikolai's presence could rid me of.
