As it turned out the weather got a little nicer about a week later. The pup was a lot better and he was able to take the stitches out. The pup never wanted back inside, but seemed to have formed a stronger bond with him. Whenever he came out, the pup was beside him and never got very far from him. Even when he worked with the horses, the pup would lay beside the gate and watch him intently. If anything came close to the cabin, the pup let him know with a growl, then as soon as he let him know that he"d seen it, he"d get quiet and moved to the side looking ready for whatever might happen. One day the pup gave his warning, and Steve saw a large moose at the lake. As always, the pup stepped off to the side. Steve had plenty of meat so he just stood there and watched this magnificent animal
