19Room SixteenThe shotgun at his temple made Billy regret his decision to simply walk up to the door of room sixteen of the Laser Ridge Motel, Las Vegas. It had seemed a good idea to tackle the confrontation head on, but now the odds looked more than a little against him. He didn’t think much of the motel either. It would be deemed “value for money,” he guessed. A typical establishment with all the doors to the rooms facing outward onto a walkway, and parking spaces for vehicles right outside. Next to the office door, there was a vending machine that sold sugar-filled treats and another for ice.
