Lenora’s POV Draco enters the room, his expression shifting from surprise to something darker. He casually surveys the room before his predatory gaze lands on me, a smirk slowly curving his lips. “Kitten, to what do I owe this pleasure?” His voice is smooth, too casual, and I can already feel the weight of his presence bearing down on me. The air thickens with tension as he takes a step closer. I force a smile, though every muscle in my body screams to flinch away. I hold up the kettle in a vain attempt to appear composed. “I thought you might be thirsty, Draco.” His eyes gleam with amusement as he rubs his chin, studying me as though I’m some amusing puzzle he’s trying to solve. “Thirsty?” His tone is mocking. “No, not thirsty. More like… hungry.” In a swift motion, he grabs the kettle from my hand and shoves me back onto the bed, making my heart slam against my ribs. I sit up quickly, fear prickling down my spine, uncertain of his next move. “I actually wanted to talk, Draco… as your mate.” The word feels like poison on my tongue, the bile rising in my throat just from uttering it. The very thought of being his mate disgusts me, but I force myself to say it. It’s working. I see the flicker of something in his eyes—emotion? Desire? Power? I’m not sure, but I cling to it like a lifeline. “Talk? As mates?” His words are a growl, filled with a twisted amusement. He sits beside me, his large frame looming over me like a shadow. His presence suffocates me, making me feel small and vulnerable, but I bury those feelings deep. I’m not that weak girl anymore. I take a deep breath, trying to summon whatever courage I have left. “I want to see my treasures—those that belong to me.” His eyes flare briefly with fire as he exhales, his features hardening. “You know I won’t allow that, Lorena.” His voice is firm, resolute, but I press on. I have to find out where he’s hiding them. This might be my only chance. I turn towards him, pleading with my eyes, adopting a posture of submission, though it makes me sick to my core. “Please, my king,” I whisper softly, feeling the acid in my stomach churn at those words. “It has been so long… I want to see them, even if it’s just for a moment.” His eyes trace a slow, deliberate path up my body, lingering far too long between my thighs before moving to meet my gaze. A shiver of revulsion runs through me, but I force myself to stay still. He lifts my chin with a finger, making me look directly into his smoldering gaze. “One moment, then,” he murmurs, his breath hot against my skin. “You can look… from a distance.” His eyes darken, a cruel smile tugging at the corners of his lips. “But in exchange, I want one night. One entire night with you… submitting completely as my mate.” His words hang in the air, heavy and suffocating. My heart stops. I can feel the bile rising again, my chest tightening with horror. “If you hold up your end,” he continues, “I will take you there when morning comes.” I can’t breathe. I can’t accept that. A tear slips down my cheek, and before I can wipe it away, he leans in and licks it from my skin, his tongue leaving a trail of ice in its wake. “Think about it, kitten,” he whispers into my ear, his voice a low, dangerous purr. “I’ll expect an answer by dinnertime tomorrow. After that, the offer’s off the table.” He chuckles darkly, the sound of it like nails scraping against my soul. “Go now, Lorena. I have many plans for you, should you accept.” I stand quickly, desperate to escape his presence, but not before his hand cracks sharply against my backside. A pained gasp escapes my throat as he laughs, the sound filling the room like a dark cloud. “I will enjoy having you underneath me all night long,” he sneers. I don’t look back. I can’t. I make my way down the hallway as fast as I can without breaking into a run, though my legs are trembling beneath me. My skin crawls with the filth of his touch, my mind racing with disgust and rage. I slam the door to my room shut, my entire body trembling with anger and helplessness. He is vile. A monster. My breath comes out in ragged gasps as I fight to hold back the tears burning behind my eyes. How could I ever be bound to someone like him? Long ago, his beast promised me he wouldn’t force himself on me until I asked for it. That day never came. Yes, he’s inflicted countless horrors upon me, but not that. That was the one thing I still had control over. His mistresses have always satisfied the appetites I wouldn’t. But now… now he’s pushing for more. If I give in, if I surrender even one night, it will never stop. His beast won’t stop. I could never do that to Asher, knowing my body belongs to him gives me something to protect. I can’t let Draco have his night with me. There has to be another way. I sit on the bed, my chest heaving, tears of frustration stinging my eyes. My hand brushes against something cold and hard beneath the blankets. My invisible bag. Relief floods through me. It’s still with me, still obeying me. Without thinking, I reach into the bag, my fingers brushing against something smooth and metallic. I pull it out, my heart racing. What is this? I didn’t notice it before. It’s a small mirror. Curious, I press the tiny button on its side, and the surface shimmers, revealing my reflection. My tear-stained face looks back at me, and for a moment, I feel the overwhelming weight of everything crash down. What would Asher think of me now? Suddenly, his face appears in the mirror. My heart skips a beat, my breath catching in my throat. He looks… tired, worn, but his eyes are as warm as ever. “Lenora?” His voice is soft but filled with concern. I blink, startled. I can hear him. “Asher?” I whisper, my voice trembling with disbelief. “I don’t know how, angel,” he says, his face lighting up with a tired smile. “But I can feel you in my mind.” “Can you hear me?” I think desperately, focusing all my energy into the thought. He nods, his eyes widening with excitement. “Yes, sweetheart, I can hear you! I’ve missed you so much.” The joy in his voice sends butterflies dancing in my stomach. “I miss you too, Asher. I’m okay… for now. I’ve found somethings in Draco’s room—some of my old belongings. I think they were Lenora’s.” His face darkens slightly, his eyes glowing a faint blue. “He didn’t hurt you, did he?” His voice is tense with barely concealed fury. Not badly, I think, trying to reassure him. “He’s leaving me alone… until tomorrow.” His eyes soften, returning to their warm honey color. His face softens up and his eyes return to the delicious honey shade “I worry for you sweetheart, and you are Lenora, you must of found the items that were on your body when you were first taken, you had a pouch that literally holds everything, there’s no limit, just think of what you need when you put your hand in. If you don’t think about something, the bag will give you what it thinks you need. It only answers to you. The device your speaking with me on is a communication device, just think of who you want to speak with and they will appear on the reflection. Did you find any jewellery?” Wow, wow and wow. Okay this is very cool. “Yup I found a bracelet, a ring and a pendant, I’ve put them straight in the bag though, I was scared I’d get caught.” He smiles, melting my heart, the dimples on his cheeks are so cute when he smiles. “Please be careful sweet angel, that sounds like the jewellery you would always wear, they will be safe in there until you can wear them again. I wish I could see you”. I smile at him, even though he can’t see me, I want to reassure him. Marley’s soft knock at the door sounds. “I have to go now, we will be together again very soon, my heart is yours Asher.” I close the mirror, slipping it back in my bag.
