Something slowly moves my shoulder finally waking me up. Its an air hostess that with a smile tells me that the plane had arrived to its destination. It took me a while to react but when I looked around I saw that the plane was completely empty. I quickly grabbed my bag and apologized to the air hostess for the trouble. I left the plane in a hurry and once I grabbed my suitcase I headed towards the exit. A huge sign that said "Welcome to London" was hung just outside the exit, I smiled.
A ring interrupted my thoughts as I searched for my phone in my bag but then realized it was in my pocket all along. I laughed at myself as I checked who was calling me, it was my dad. "Hello?" I answered still smiling, "Hello peanut, welcome home!" he said with his typical joyful voice. I thanked him and asked him why wasn't he there in the airport waiting for me, "I hate to be the bearer of bad news love but I cannot make it, you know that this trip your mom and I are making is really important for the company and I'm also arranging everything for you to take care of your siblings without any problems". I closed my eyes trying to contain as possible my feelings and then remembered that maybe this would be good for me, I would finally be able to bond with my brothers like a normal family. I still cant believe that my parents decided to have more children just when I was leaving for college. "Its okay dad, don't worry. You go and get everything set for your trip, I´ll just grab a cab" I said as I looked around trying to find one, "Wonderful! We'll all meet you at the flat and give you a tour since its all very new to you". And with that we said goodbye and I could continue my search for a cab. I finally found one five minutes later. I got on the car and gave the driver the address as I watched with amazement the city I would be living for the next few months.
Snow started falling when I had finally arrived to the destination and when I got off the car and looked at the building I thought that maybe I had the wrong address. In front of me there was an elegant building with six floors including the lobby. The place looked terribly expensive and from the distance you could see that there where chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. I turned around to ask the driver if this was the right place but he had already taken off. I would ring my parents but my phone died, well this was a great start. I decided to go into the far to elegant building and pray that I had gotten the right address because it was freezing outside.
As I had expected the lobby was as fancy as the building itself. The floors where of marble, there where some furniture that clearly looked that they where made of silk and elegant mirrors adorned the walls making the room look bigger. "Hello madam, may I help you?" asked a tall young man dressed in a uniform, I hadn't realized he was there until now, "Oh, umm. Just a moment" I said as I clumsily looked for the paper in which I had written the address. When I finally found it I handed it to him and asked if this was the right place, "Yes it is madam, is someone expecting you?" he said with a kind smile, "Yes, my parent apparently live here, my name is Thalia Brown" I said hoping my parents would've left a message of my arrival. "Ah yes! Mr. Brown came by this morning to let me know that you where coming. I'm Alex the doorman, at your service" A rush of relief flooded my body as greeted Alex. "The elevator is this way madam, would you like me to help you with your luggage?" he said pointing at an also very fancy elevator, "Thank you Alex but I can manage on my own" I said getting in the elevator, "Very well madam, have a nice day" he said with a big smile, "You too" I said as the doors where closing. Then I realized something, I had no idea which floor was my parents flat.
I tried to open the door but it was too late, the elevator was already going up. "Well this is just great" I said to myself as I tried guessing which floor would it be. I clicked on the fourth and prayed for it to be the right one. The doors opened and I got out with my eyes darting to everywhere, there was only one hallway one door but yet the place looked way to fancy for it to be just a hallway. I distractedly walked towards the dark oak door and knocked hoping that my dad would answer. A few quiet steps approached towards the door as it slowly opened. A tall man with long legs and messy brown hair looked at me with a bit of surprise. "Yes?" he asked quietly, it took me a minute to react because my thoughts where lost in those emerald eyes that looked at me. "Oh, hi. By any chance do you know where the Browns live? I'm kind of lost here" I said feeling a bit intimidated by his penetrating look but then his face softened, he didn't smile but I could almost swear that he was somehow happy. "Its the next floor, the fifth" he said in his deep and polite voice. I smiled and thanked him for the help but this time he didn't talk, he just gave e a polite nod.
I slowly walked towards the elevator again with a weird feeling in my stomach, I pressed the button for the fifth floor and just when the doors where about to close I saw that the stranger was still looking at me, those emerald eyes making my heart skip.
