"Didn't you want me to kiss you?” He asked her. Weren't everything you doing to catch my attention? Coming in front of my car and now crying here loudly." He asked her, Gloria's brows furrowed. His question made her furious. How obsessed that person is about himself.
"You must have heard me crying but seemed like you are emotionally deaf." Gloria greeted her teeth. She had been crying in the bathroom and grappling with the guilt of not being there for her younger sister during a difficult time in her life. She had no interest in seeking Noah's attention, which seemed self-absorbed to her.
"Well, you got my attention anyway. You have succeeded in your mission." Noah was stubborn. Perhaps he was surrounded by girls all the time who needed his attention.
"Who the hell are you? Who needs your f*****g attention?" Gloria asked him. Noah wondered why she hated him when she too started enjoying the kiss. It was not that bad.
"Tell me you don't like it," Noah asked her. Gloria's eyes widened as if it would poke out of her eyeball. "You can deny it all you want, but I can see the blush on your cheeks right now. You enjoyed it." Noah smirked, he was so confident because he felt it in her eyes. How she allowed him to kiss her, how her fingers clenched his hands. Gloria stared at him as if she was caught off guard. She stared herself in the mirror behind him, her cheeks were tinting.
"Shut up." She pushed against his chest. walked out of the bathroom. Noah follows her out of the washroom. The girls waiting outside the washroom dropped their jaws as they saw Noah coming out of the girl's washroom. Gloria continued taking orders at the counter.
"Next." She handed the bill to the customer and called next. Her brain was now fogged with unusual thoughts. A moment before she was mourning Rachel's death but now she was all thinking about that boy who appeared out of nowhere and kissed her. She picked the freshly baked pastries that just arrived from Uncle's bakery and arranged them into racks. A voice behind her dumbfounded her again.
"Five fresh pan pizza and one kiss." It was Noah. He was surrounded by his friends.
"What?" She could not believe she heard it. Perhaps she was thinking about their kiss so misheard.
"Five fresh pan pizzas and one coffee." He corrected himself and his friends laughed and mutted in each other's ears. Gloria gritted her teeth and her fingers tapped on the keyboard as if she was going to break it now. God knows what this boy told his friends they were weirdly looking at her.
"Is any problem?" Danial approached Gloria when he found the Group of boys teasing her.
Noah was annoyed as he was having fun. He went back and sat on the chair.
"No, but thanks.." Gloria smiled forcefully.
Noah ignored her as if nothing happened in the washroom but Gloria couldn't take it out of her mind. Gloria was also trying to ignore him, but after a while, her gaze would drift towards Noah, and he would also look in her direction. Their eyes would meet, and Gloria would quickly look away.
When Noah's friends left the cafe, he approached her.
"Nice Coffee, Gloria." He said throwing the coffee disposal into the dustbin. Gloria was surprised. She didn't tell him her name. His hands then reached her chest, her heart started throbbing. He just kissed her a while before, what was he doing again? Her heart clenched, and Noah twitched on her name strip that was attached to her uniform. She breathed a relief that he didn't do anything worse.
"By the way I am Noah." In a dimly lit café, Noah and Gloria were standing across the counter. As Noah leaned in closer, a mischievous smile played on his lips. He gently brushed a strand of hair away from Gloria's face. "You look beautiful that day in a black dress." He said. Her heart filled with dancing butterflies. Many people complimented her for her looks. Her colleagues, Selvia, Danial but this compliment just went straight into her heart. Her heart was racing like never before.
Gloria finished her job in the cafe and left for her room. Her colleague Danial gave her a ride to her apartment. She arrived in her room and took a deep breath. She felt weird as she approached her house. She breathed placing her hand in front of her mouth. She still smelled like that boy she met yesterday.
She touched her lips, that was weird that some random boy made her feel how to feel to be kissed.
"Did something happen?" Sylvia asked her looking at her lips. She was frying hotdogs and the smell of the hotdogs filled the entire room.
"No.." She shook her head.
"Why your ears are so red?" She asked her. Gloria touched her ears, she was just thinking about that guy. That boy, who was charming yet arrogant kept appearing in front of her eyes. Perhaps nobody touched her lips the way he did.
"Do you want hot dogs?" Sylvia asked her but Gloria shook her head. Her eyes were heavy. She did not even change her uniform, she just bumped into her bed and closed her eyes.
It was the next day and Gloria went to the cafe. Her eyes were stuck at the entrance every time someone got inside. She wasn't waiting for anyone yet felt disappointed when it was not a person she wished for.
"Are you looking for someone?" Danial asked her, but she denied it.
"No, why would I?" She smiled and poked her eyes into the computer.
"You asked me to get a hacker for your sister's account right?" Danial asked her, Gloria surprisingly stared at him. She thought hacking and all was just a scam but Danial did it.
"That's your sister's Social media account." Danial gave her a password for Rachel's account. After the death of Rachel, she wanted to know what made Rachel take her life. She was a cheerful girl, even last night she wasn't that upset.
Gloria swiped through her account but most of the chats were deleted. Few people were blocked.
"Will it work?" Daniel asked her, she shook her head.
"Not for right now but I would keep checking it. If I can find anything important." She told him.
While lying on the bed, she continued checking her old pictures with Rachel in the archives. They were so happy before. She swiped a photo and suddenly Rachel's hand holding a man's hand appeared on the screen.
She had never seen Rachel posting this. Gloria checked the date, She posted it for a minute and then deleted it.
Gloria zoomed that image and she was stunned. The other hand did not appear like someone young but it was an old wrinkled hand. Not only a wrinkled hand but A blue topaz ring on the ring finger made Gloria extremely staggered. She went through Rachel's Archives and found several images of only a hand but not a person's face.
"I want to tell you something, when are you coming back?" She recalled her sister's words. Rachel never spoke to her about a boy she liked. And this person doesn't seem like a boy but a man.
Gloria turned on the lights and started packing her bags. It was midnight and she was taking her clothes and stuffing them into her bag. This time it was not a tiny bag but a big suitcase.
"Where are you running away?" Sylvia stared at her with her half-closed eyes. She looked at the clock it was three in the night.
"To California," Gloria said and picked up her suitcase.
