Every tick of the clock felt like it lasted hours not seconds. I’d got here too early, unable to sleep after what I’d heard over the fence and the fear of what I was walking into today . So I’d got here at five am when I knew the security guards were here and the doors were open. They had even looked at me like I was crazy for willingly coming into the office at that time. Thoughts of him sacking me had me tossing and turning or taking me off the case, no longer his assistant.
What would that look like ? Not just to the seniors but every one in the office , it would look like I couldn’t handle the job.
