Good luck, host.] June Weng opened his eyes and looked around his surrounding—something he did whenever he entered a new world. He found himself in a warm cafe by the window, with a cup of mocha clasped in his hand. He turned towards the window and caught sight of his reflection, looking back at him was a man with porcelain skin and wide set of electric blue eyes. His butterscotch hair was tousled and fell over his forehead in soft curls. He glanced at the watch on his wrist and frowned slightly, the female lead of the story—Clover Xiao had asked him to meet here. But twenty minutes had passed, she had not arrived yet. June sipped on his mocha and stared out of the window scanning through his new body's old memories and wondering how he could met with the male lead. The old owner of the body had only seen the male lead—Noah Zang in televisions, newspapers and magazine covers. The tingling of bell bought June out of his thoughts and he craned his neck to look at the entrance. Clover Xiao's coffee brown eyes swept through the cafe and landed on June's face with a smile. She quickly made her way towards his direction. Before sitting down, she lightly placed a kiss on June's lips. June mentally cringed at the kiss and unconsciously, wiped his lips with the heel of his palm. Thankfully, Clover was busy shrugging out of her coat to notice. "How was your day, babe?", Clover smiled brightly at June, as she tucked her honey blonde hair behind her ears. June gave her a quick smile, "The usual, nothing special." He placed his chin on his hand, "What about you? Why did you called me here so suddenly? You could have come to my apartment directly." "About that..." Clover slowly began. She played with the ends of her sleeves—something she often did when she was nervous. "Daddy made an unexpected announcement." June raised an eyebrow, "What did he say?" Clover closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She reopened them and looked into June's blue eyes, "Daddy wants me to marry the youngest son of Zang company." Zang company was the most influential and powerful company in the country. It's branches stretched out of the country, in foreign countries, earning them millions in just a year. The youngest son of the Zang company was the future CEO. Anyone who marries into the Zang household was sure to become wealthy and powerful in a blink of an eye. June straighten up, "What...erm what did you say?" "Of course, I refused," Clover scoffed but slowly frowned at June's raised eyebrow,"At first." She grumpily added. June waited for Clover to tell more. Sighing, Clover gave in, "I can't defy daddy's words, being the only daughter and heir of the company. I..." she rested her head on the table and let out an tired sigh. A sudden wave of sympathy hit June as he saw a vulnerable Clover. Through his travelling, he knew that children from high classed family had a lot of things to deal with. They grow fast and see the world for what it is faster. They have to learn to watch out for their backs and manage business and even make sacrifices for it. He reach out and tousled Clover's hair softly, "Hey, it's okay," he spoke softly. Clover raised her head and looked at June, who had been the source of her warmth and relaxation whenever work became a burden to her. She had met June during her high school days and fell in love with him, immediately. Ever since then they had been together. [Female lead's favorability point towards June Weng +15, current favorability points 85%] June froze at the increased favorability points. He took his hand away from Clover's hair and cleared his throat, "What happened next?" Clover rested her right cheek on her hand, "Mom fixed me a date with Noah. I just came after meeting him." "Oh," June muttered, unsure of what to say. Clover continued, "Noah and I agreed to divorce with each other once we get hold of our own companies." June nodded, "When...when are you guys marrying?" Clover pursed her lips before answering, "We will have a spring wedding. And we are getting engaged on New Year's Day." Both of them fell silent. Clover anxiously looked at June wondering what he was thinking. Is he angry? Sad? Heartbroken? Upset? What would happen to them now? Are they going to break up? However, June Weng was counting the months he had to stop the engagement between the main leads. October, November, December he counted mentally. June smiled. He had plenty of time. Clover finally spoke, unable to bear June's silence, "After divorce, we can still be together. We don't have to break up, June." she reached out to hold June's hand. June looked at Clover, "I don't think that is a good idea, Clover. Having affair with someone else after being married." "But—" June shook his head lightly, "Let's break up," he spoke softly. He registered the hurt in her eyes and added, "It's the best option." Clover bit her lips as she avoided June's eyes, "...why? We love each other right?" "Yes, I do love you," June said, the lie came as smooth as a butter, the old owner of this body loved her not him. "But you should think about the future too. What if you and your husband fall in love with each other and decide to withdraw the divorce? Or your family catches us? In the end you and I will end up getting hurt." June remembered how heartbroken the pervious owner of this body was, when Clover broke up with him after years of waiting. How she coldly stared into his eyes and said they should not be together. How the eyes which harboured warmth in his heart and soared butterflies in his stomach looked so cold and distant. The hurt. The hopelessness. What hurt even more was the previous soul wouldn't even hate her after her betrayal. He loved her too much that there were no space to hate her. Now that June and his system has entered this body, he was going to make sure it is blessed with the ending it deserves and stray it away from the unwanted hurt and drama he went through. Clover's eyes shot up at June's,"I would never do that to you! I love you!" June gave her a soft smile, "Of course, you love me, you silly girl." He reached out to pat her head, "But we don't know what will happen in the future." June held Clover's gaze as he softly said, "It's for the best. Let's break up." June could see Clover's face morphing into a shocked and hurt expression. Her lips quivered and she covered her mouth with a trembling hand when a sob escaped her lips. She quickly avoided June's eyes and hung her head low. [Female lead's favorability point towards June Weng-20 current favorability points: 65%] June sighed. As much as he wanted to avoid this he knew it was inevitable. If he don't break up with Clover now then she will end up casting him out of her life, once she falls in love with the male lead. "Don't cry, Clover," June said in a quiet voice which resonated in Clover's ears , making the pain in her heart worsen, "You should know this is for the best." Clover knew what June was trying to say. She bitterly realised that they were doomed from the first. Their world were different. They were different. They didn't belong with each other from the start. Clover dabbed her eyes with her sleeve and sniffled lightly. She looked up at June's bright eyes which she fell in love with everytime she saw them. She forced a smile, "I understand. I am sorry for being selfish." June shook his head, "You were doing this for us," he squeezed her hands lightly, "But it is not going to work anyway." "You are right," Clover agreed with a nod. June smiled. He got up and grabbed his jacket. He looked at Clover who was still fiddling her fingers and lost in thought, "I will be going then." Clover looked up at him. Taking in the image of the man she had fell in love with when she was sixteen. She remembered how nervous and shy she was when she asked, if they could go home together after school for the first time. She remembered how he had smiled beautifully at her and agreed. She remembered how he held her hand as they walked side by side, sharing an ice cream. She remembered how her heart felt when he kissed her for the first time. She remembered it all. And it hurt. "Goodbye June." June slipped into his jacket and gave her a smile, which almost looked sad,"Goodbye Clover." ???
