Clark Gundarrson, aged 52. Married twice, divorced once. One son and one daughter, one child per wife. A Democrat who had switched tickets and become the mayor as a Republican. A big guy, blond and Swedish-looking, built like a former high school football player (which he was).
No college degree, but a good head for business on the local scale. Owner of Timothy’s Bar and Grill, where all the other agents drank together. Owner of Pete’s Pasta Bar, a place where the college kids could eat cheap. Owner of Hennington Dollar Value.
Also the owner – and this was much more to the point – of a lot of real estate, although it was very difficult to tell how much of it he really owned. There were a lot of different companies, one stacked inside the other like those Russian dolls.
