Chapter 28 “Gavin, what happened...?” Astrida was shocked by the sight of me, I could tell that much. Her mouth hung open, and from the look in her eyes, she was stunned and horrified. And that was before she even saw the worst of it. I’m not quite sure how I drove home, considering that I couldn’t move at all without making desperate little whimpering noises. But I did it, clutching on to the steering wheel like a desperate fishing boat captain clinging on for dear life in a nor’easter. I drove straight back to my apartment complex, not to the hospital where a person with injuries like mine would normally go.
