Chapter 20 I drove out to the professor’s house, but he wasn’t there. I could see that from the moment I pulled into the driveway, but I got out and knocked on his door anyway. The place looked desolate, like it belonged in some old black-and-white photo about the Dust Bowl rather than here at the edge of a college campus. I considered waiting, but realized I had no way of knowing when he would get back. I had always thought of Andrew as a bit of a hermit, but that didn’t really seem to be the case.
