I hadn"t had such a bad night since my mother and father had died. I"d had many a sleepless nights thereafter, but after about a year, I was able to sleep without a sleep aid. Until last night. I had to take one sleeping pill—the over-the-counter kind. It helped me sleep for possibly four or five hours, tops. Aunt Jessica didn"t open up until noon on Sundays—like everyone else who had a shop, unless they served breakfast, or had a coffee shop. Since it was Sunday, I figured I could try and sleep in for a few hours. I had rolled over hoping to do that when a soft knock came to my door. I rolled over toward the door. “I"m awake,” I said in a groggy voice. My aunt stepped in. She was dressed in a nice powder blue pant suit and a white shirt and matching flats. She looked ready to step out.
