I WOKE UP with nothing but a heavy golden blanket around me. My back was bare, no touch of someone who was deprived of one. No caress from someone who was used to violence. No whispers of the secret that he felt, a low mumble, the darkness that tried to prevent him from saying it, but then he said it anyway, in the quiet night of his room, so soft and gentle, and it was almost a declare of love coming from him. Rhys was gone, and in his place, I could feel the regret, the questions, the guilt that haunted him in his waking moment.
