WE JUST rode for hours without any direction at all. It was clearly very exhausting, especially for such an old woman like Rita. But none of us wanted to say that we were slowly getting too tired to continue this ride. We kept the silence at bay because we wanted to get as far away from the village as we could. None of them wanted to be the first one who uttered a word. And I was pretty sure it was not because we did not want to sound like we were whining, but it was because, deep down, we were scared someone would hear our voice echoed by the wind.
