THE FIGHT was bloody and violent. It was ruthless, brutal, and cruel. No one stopped, no one hesitated, and no one even tried to prevent more blood from spilling. It was like watching animals tear each other apart. I was terrified, but the man who was holding my hand could make it all stop. He could protect me from all the terrible violence, and so I walked behind him. I was safe. Knox was nearly dead. He looked at me and tried to get to me, but Rhys’ warriors were fiercer and crueler. They were not going to stop at anything, not even if their lives were dependent on it. Knox fought fiercely, and bravely, but he was out of resources. He was weak. He was no match for the King of the Wolves, and so he went down. He wailed at the news of his father dying in the battle when he tried to help
