Chapter 5
Rex found Jude huddled on the bench in the exam room a while later. He’d taken Sebastian into another area to tend to him because Jude had been too distraught. Jude’s face was buried in his hands and his body shook. No doubt he was crying.
“Jude,” he said gently, stepping fully into the exam room.
Jude looked up, his lashes dotted with teardrops. His bottom lip trembled. “I can’t do this. This can’t happen.” His voice hitched. “I can’t take any more.”
His heart twisting, Rex knelt in front of him, placing himself between Jude’s legs. He grabbed Jude’s hands. “Sebastian is going to be fine.”
“He…is? Really?”
