Aspen's POV Shopping with Dante is a pain. He declines everything! It's either do bright. Too exposing. Too tight. Too formal. Ughhh. I stand in the dressing room silently screaming and pulling at my hair. I look at the dress in the mirror even the sales people looked tired. This better work or else I'm wearing jeans to this event. I don't even know what its for. Because you were to busy yelling off his ear. Oh shut up. The dress was a blue bedazzled dress with a long slit and a low front. It was floor length and seriously elegant. It was sleeveless and had a heart shaped front. I loved it. I stepped out cautiously and stares at him. "Okay. This is the last dress, if you don't like it I will put ratty jeans on with a shirt that says-" "Its perfect" he pronounces looking me over. "-let me touch your boot-...what?" I ask. "It's beautiful. You're beautiful" he explains looking me dead in the eye and I look away blushing. "We'll take it" I say to the saleswoman and she looks so grateful. I look at the tag and my eyes bulge. "You know what. Never mind" I call out rushing into the dressing room but Dante grabs my arm frowning. "What? Why?" "Its way to expensive Mr. Wright," I tell him and he cringes. "Enough with the Mr. Wright, we're not at work. And I'll take care of it" "No" I state firmly returning to the dressing room but he throws me over his shoulder and walks to the casher. He has a very nice butt by the way. Makes me want to smack it. Anyway, he pays for the dress! Now I owe him thirty five grand. Damn I really needed a new phone. I sigh and let him carry me to the car. When we get out its dark already. "We'll just drive to the father daughter dance since its already so late" "What? If its the father daughter dance why am I here?" "Because I need a date" "Do you have a daughter" "No" "Then why are you going?" "Because family is hosting the event" "I'm gonna meet your parents?!" I shrieked. "Yes." He answered nonchalantly. I sit back and look at my appearance. No make up. No hair do. And Nike sneakers. Great. Get ready to meet the Wrights. # Aspens POV "Oh Dante darling" I hear an older woman cry out and I immediately hate her. Wait. Hate is such a strong word. Strongly dislike her. "Mother" he answers with disdain. Aww we're on the same page. She finally shows her face and my jaw dropped. She had on a beautiful black see through dress. It was floor length and fitted with a slit on the side. She had like zero wrinkles to indicate her age. She was stunning. She looked me up and down and I felt Dante's hand circle around me waist pulling me closer to him. "This is my date and personal assistant, Aspen" He pronounces and she gasps. "This thing is your date?" She screeches and I grit my teeth. "Mother" he says in a warning tone. "Oh dear" she says to helself resting the back of her palm dramatically on top of her forehead "my son took a hobo to my event" Okay. I'm gone. I turn around ready to leave when he pulls me back. "I would appreciate it if you would respect it mother" respect what? That you brought a hobo to your mother's event? "Aspen is quite beautiful if you can't see that then that's a shame, but she's my date for the night and whether you like it or not she's staying. Now where's dad?" Oh. I blush and turn away. "But darling, I sent so many supermodels. You declined them for an elephant." She scolded ignore his question. Okay that stung. "Ill find him myself" he says sharply ignoring her. He then steers me around her searching for his dad. When we find him he's chatting with the others. Dante talks with them and I take that chance to look around. The place looks beautiful. And expensive. There were strips of gold and white everywhere. There was a stage further away and a dancefloor below it where I assume, father's and daughters danced. That's something I never had. Never will. They didn't want me. He didn't want me. He never did. I felt the tears prick my eyes but I will them to go back. "Oh how rude of me!" A man exclaims and I snap my head back to where the conversation was going on. "Whose this fine lady." "This is my date, Aspen" "Nice to meet you..er" "Don. Don ricochet. Dante's step father" "Right nice to meet you Don" "The pleasure is all mine" he says gripping my hand to kiss it. His mouth lingers a little longer than necessary and I get a bad feeling from this guy. "Well we must be socializing now" Dante says and I am so grateful. Don releases my and and winks. Ugh. We walk around, introducing, talking yada yada. That boring stuff. Then it was officially time for the father daughter dance. My heart sank when I saw the amount of father's who looked so delighted to be dancing with their daughter. I turn my eyes away from the dancefloor and excused myself from Dante. "Is everything alright?" He asks worried and I hide my tears. "Yes yes of course. I just need to freshen up." "Okay princess" he smiles and that's the first time. It doesn't brighten up my mood though. I send him back a fake smile. I don't make it far until I collapse to the ground and cry silently. Thank lord it was behind a plant. I cry for them not wanting me. I cry for them not loving me. I cry for them not fighting for me. I cry. I just let it out.
