"Are you okay?" Aunt Agnes asked, snapping me back from the world where I had punched the asshole standing in front of me more times than I could imagine. It was a shame though that all of those thoughts could only be locked away in my imaginative world and not allowed to be brought to life. "I'm great." I shook my head, my mind now swirling with thoughts of how to make it out of here with my dignity still intact and of course his face unbruised from my fist. "I'm asking you a question mom," he barked at his mother, "how many times have I told you to tell your damn maids to stay away from my room, now I'm looking for everything." "Still as unmannered as I remember him," Aunt Agnes scoffed under her breath as we watched the drama between mother and son unfold before us. "You know him?" I asked, shocked. "Know him? I raised that brat since he was barely a month old," she said in a low tone, "Mrs. Dalia is the best human you would ever meet, I wonder why heavens decided to give her such a child." "Damien, please leave, I will call you once my guests leave. As you can see I have guests right now." she gestured toward us and I was thankful when he did not even bat an eye at us. "They can wait, mom," he whined, "why do you never listen to me. I need my flute it was right on my table and now someone cleaned my room and I cannot find it." "Please just get another one Damien," Mrs. Dalia rubbed her forehead and sighed. His presence alone was enough to give anyone a headache. "When will I be getting a new maid?" he asked like a five-year-old asking for cereal. "I cannot handle just anyone going into my room, since they do not even know how to handle a simple job." I could not help but wonder why Mrs. Dalia was not correcting his rude attitude towards her staff, but I decided to hold my mouth shut. "Maybe you should learn to control your outbursts so you can have at least one maid that decided to stay longer than one month." "It's not my fault that they can not handle my moods." he shrugged non-challantly. "Damien please leave my office. I have a terrible headache and I think you have embarrassed me enough in front of my guests so please leave, I'll ask Miley to get someone new for you. Please leave." "Thanks," he said simply and pivoted. Thankfully, in his outbursts he did not do so much as glance at me and Aunt Agnes as he stormed out of the room, banging the door so hard the pictures on the wall shook. Such a bratty bastard. "He still does what he wants to do." Aunt Agnes chuckled humorlessly. "I'm so sorry you had to witness that." Mrs. Dalia sighed, getting to her feet. "Damien can be a handful when he's upset." this time her smile did not reach her eyes. "No need to apologize to me, I'm no stranger to your son's ways." "Are you alright Debby?" she looked at me and I could see the tiredness in her eyes. "I'm sorry you had to see that." It's not close to what I'm used to having from your son. "I'm fine ma'am, are you okay? You seem a bit stressed." "I'll call the doctor in once I'm done for the day. where were we in our conversation?" "I think we just finished up." Aunt Agnes rose to her feet. "So Monday it is then?" "Yes Monday," I took a few steps closer, and without thinking, I gave her a hug, "thank you so much for doing this for me Mrs. Dalia." "It's nothing love. When you come on Monday, we'll have to go over a few things and then I'll introduce you to the others including my son. I promise he would be more well behaved then." I'm counting on that. "I hope so." She reached on her table and took out a card. "This is my card, please contact me if anything changes." ***************************** "That went well," Aunt Agnes noted as we climbed into the taxi. "Except the part where Damien ruined everyone's mood as usual." I blurted. "You know him?" she stared at me, eyes wide. "Just by reputation." I shrugged, looking out through the window. It was almost noon and time for my shift at the cafe. "I have a good idea that reputation is not the best." "You don't wanna know."  Panic rose in my chest as I realized I might be running into him and the other three shameless assholes at the cafe. If all went well in the next few days, I would be moving to his home on Monday and that would mean I would be lIving under the same roof as him every passing day. The thought sent shudders wracking through me and for the rest of the drive, all I could think of was how I was supposed to go through the next few months or years without going to juvi for murder. "Are you okay?" Aunt Jane asked again as the taxi came to a slow halt in front of the Ice cream shop. "I just have a lot on my mind today. But I'm mostly fine." I offered a small smile, "Are you still in town?" "Sweety I'm not going anywhere until I see you move into the Mcarthy's." she rubbed my hands slowly. "I'll catch you later, I have to go and see your mom." "Oh okay. Send my regards." "Do you want to come? I know she'll be thrilled to see you," I snorted at that. "You don't know my mom if you think she would be glad in the least to see me." the woman hated me just as much as I loathed her and another reason I had for not wanting to see her just yet was the fact that I had not forgiven her just yet. I was in this messy situation with no house to live and no idea where tomorrow would lead me and it was all her fault. It would take me a very long time o get past that. "just tell her I said hi and I hope she gets out of jail soon." "Okay, I'll see you before the day ends." I was glad that she did not push it any further. I might have gotten over what had happened in the last few days pretty well, but could not trust myself to not become emotional again if I had to be reminded of why and how my life was a mess. I waved my aunt goodbye and watched as she left until the taxi faded into the busy streets. I put my jacket over my shoulder, considering if I would just take the day of or risk ruining my day by coming in contact with any of those bastards. I ended up taking the second option just because I would rather not lose my job because I was trying to avoid a few assholes. That would be the last straw for me. I pivoted, hoping to reach the door but made hard contact with someone carrying a cup of coffee. I jumped, managing to hold back a scream as the steaming liquid spilled all over my dress. "Owww!!" The girl who was holding the coffee had managed to shift back just in time and was not in the least affected. I though had warm coffee dripping all over my face and down my body. "Is it so hard to watch where you're going?" a familiar voice screamed at me and I looked up to meet a pair of familiar yet most unwelcome pair of eyes giving me the coldest glare. "It works both ways, also I'm the one drenched in your coffee," I shot back, feeling pissed at the sticky liquid trickling down my body. Thankfully, it was not hot enough to burn. "And you don't think I paid for that with money?" little miss perfect Holly and queen of all shameless bullies shot back angrily. "God, I thought you had disappeared from the face of this planet already. I can't believe I have to deal with the bad luck of running into you again." "Well, I'm not the most excited to see you either, just so you know." I had not been able to return to school following the events of the last few days and apart from the fact that I had missed some school work I was glad that I had not come in contact with a few of the people that made my already difficult life something hell would be jealous of. I took out my handkerchief from my pocket and started to wipe the liquid off my dress. It was no use though it settled really quick and it would probably take all the soap I could find to get the stain off, or not. "A few days away from school must have reset your brain weirdo," she pushed my shoulders and made me back up a step. "You seem to have forgotten who I am you little ugly bitch." "We're not in school Holly, I am under no obligation to hold back from breaking your nose, especially with your minions not here," I shot back praying she would take the hint and just go away. "You will break my nose?" she scoffed and pushed my shoulder again. I never needed self-control more in my life. "You ran into me and spilled my coffee and instead of apologizing you are being a silly b***h about it and having a sharp mouth." "We ran into each other," I reminded her, "so I'll apologize to you when you do the same for me. And you also have to apologize for spilling coffee all over me., and pay for the laundry to get this fixed, if you don't well don't expect the same treatment from me." I squared my shoulder giving her a matching glare. Today I was in no mood to be stepped over. "How dare you talk to me like that?!" "'I'm really not in the mood for you today so please just leave my way." Why could my day just not go normal without problems? And now I had to explain why I had coffee all over my body or Mr. Gerald would not let me hear the end of it. There was also the fact that among my very few clothes I had managed to ruin one of my favorites with no hope of getting a new one anytime soon. Feeling frustrated, I moved past her, but she grabbed my arm, pulling me back to the spot. "Who the hell do you think you are?" she raised her hand up to hit me, but my hand shot out first pushing her back so hard she landed on her butt and into the muddy water that was next to her. Her exaggerated scream was accompanied by a familiar face standing behind her. "It looks like you already have everything under control here." Zachery chuckled, moving to stand beside me as he regarded Holly with an amused smile. I did not get the chance to give a reply before the b***h she was on her feet again, arms ready to claw at my face and eyes giving me the evilest look. "Okay, I think that's enough for today." he stood in front of me, easily obstructing her fingers from reaching me since he was comfortably twice holy's size and maybe a little over that for me. He caught both her hands in one firm grip and she tried to twist out of his hold with no use. "Let go of me, I need to show that b***h a lesson." "Heyy, chill out," he said with a charming smile that worked like magic to calm her. "Oh hey it's you," she said almost dreamily and I worked to hold back my amusement at how easily she switched from ferocious tiger to a good kitten. She straightened up quickly and ran a hand over her hair, suddenly as red as a tomato. Zachery and Damien always had that effect on girls and a few times too, I had to see full-grown women giving them all the suggestive stares whenever they came by the shop. It felt like I was the only one that really saw past all the chiseled cheeks, charming smiles, and handsome faces. Or maybe it was because I received on a daily basis a new reason to fortify my loathe for them. The next few seconds passed quickly and before I knew it, they were exchanging numbers and talking about meeting up for coffee later. I cringed as Holly jumped and squeaked like a kid that just received a Christmas present and before they would make me feel more irritated than I already was, I slipped past them and made my way toward the shop, ready to do some explanations. "Hey wait up!" Zachery called from behind m, just as I almost entered the shop. I turned to find him trying to catch up with me. With a sigh, I paused and folded my arms across my chest. "What?" I asked sharply. "Whoa, is that how to treat someone that just saved you from getting clawed at?" he raised a brow but still had an amused smile on. "I did not ask you to save me. I had it under control and I can take care of myself." I had always had to. "Ungrateful now are we?" I gave a small sigh and unfolded my arms, realizing he was not the enemy, at least not right now. "Thank you for holding her off Zachery, but I really need to get inside my shift will begin in about 10 minutes." He frowned, "I told you to call me Zac." "You said your friends called you Zac, we are not friends." I reminded him with a toothed smile. Why the hell was he suddenly being so damn nice to me. Somehow I preferred it when he was been a jerk to me. He chuckled and ran a hand through his hair smoothly, "I won't answer you the next time you call me Zachery." "Great since I was not planning on calling you." I turned to head inside, but he caught my hand first, pulling me back to the spot. "Why were you not taking your calls?" I had almost forgotten he had forced me to take his phone. I did not bother to tell him that I had shoved it right at the bottom of my knapsack and intended to return it when I had the chance. "I was worried about you." I could not hold back the peals of laughter that escaped my chest. "You were worried about me? Well then hello everyone and we come to planet Mars." I mocked. "Is that so unbelievable?" he frowned, with his brow raised. How he managed to look even handsome with his frown on was still surprising to me. What? I have eyes even if I'm not buying. "I really don't have the time for your jokes," I looked around hoping to get a glimpse of any of the other jerks, but they weren't in sight. "You know you should not be standing so close to me, your friends might just get mad at you for even talking to the weirdo." "They are not here today. I'm alone and I was not joking when I said I was worried about you." he sounded angrier this time and I worked to keep the shock off my face because since when did anyone start to worry about me? "Well as you can see I'm fine, alive and well." I folded my arms across my chest. "Why were you not taking your calls?" he questioned. "I don't have a phone remember. And when next will you be here, I have to return your phone to you." I said without missing a beat. It felt so weird having a regular conversation with him. "I didn't ask you to return it." "And I did not ask you to give it to me." "Why are you being so difficult?" "And why are you even talking to me?" I blurted sharply before I could hold it back in and almost immediately I wished I could take it back. His brows furrowed in annoyance. "Look, Zachery..." "It's Zac!" he snapped, shoving his hand in his pocket and turning to leave, "I'll see you around later."
