"Come on, Yvonne, you know I'm not so good at guessing; please spill the facts and don't get me hanging," Amanda replied.
"He requested I join in their dinner party," I responded, and Amanda's gaze suddenly changed.
"Dinner party?" she asked, her face frowning.
"Yeah, he does," I replied, smiling slightly.
"And what was your response to the request?" she added, adjusting her position.
"Well, I hesitated at first, but he persisted, saying it was his mother's wish, so I accepted," I answered.
"Mother's wish? Was it not the same parents who made the pack a living hell for you, then? And you think it was a genuine wish?" Amanda was skeptical about that.
"Um, Amanda, she was not part of the problem. It was Adolph, her husband, my father-in-law, but he is gone now," I replied.
