Chapter Five They walked out to Miles’s car and he said, “Home?” in a hopeful voice. “Certainly. We have to put our containers into the fridge. Plus, I want to speak with Dusty.” Miles started up the car. “Does your grass need mowing?” “Not particularly, although that would be a good idea considering I want the gnomes pulled out. It does make things look tidier to have the grass low. But mostly, I want him to pull them all out. I need to make a statement to Red.” Miles reflected that the statement Myrtle would make would be more to the entire neighborhood. However, he wisely kept this sentiment to himself. They put their take-out in Myrtle’s fridge and settled in her living room. She pulled out her phone and dialed Dusty. He answered the phone with a howl. “Can’t mow, Miz Myrtle!”
