Chapter 9The workday had seemed endless, but it finally wound to an end. Kyle boogied out of headquarters before anyone—namely Ahrens—could stop him. He was leaving on time this day of all days. And for a change, traffic wasn’t bad…No, seriously, it was its usual heinous self, but he finally arrived home. His apartment building had some parking spaces in front of it, allowing the residents to take advantage of it on occasion. Kyle left the Dodge there. It shouldn’t take him too long Kyle let himself into the building and bounced up to the elevator on the lobby floor, pressed the button, and waited impatiently. He usually took the stairs at headquarters and jogging up to twelve in his apartment building didn’t take him much more than a minute and a half, but…. Not tonight, baby—he had ot
