-Andre-
“A witch, Your Highness?”
“Yes, I must find her as soon as possible.” I need her. “Every door at Saint Isabella closes at the face of my Lycans. They are strangers to the residents. That is why I must ask for your help.”
“I am happy to help, Your Highness.” Leonard bowed.
"Excuse me, Your Highness," Adela asked permission to interrupt.
“Tom is sending the clothes they found!” She added with a smile.
“Great news!” The beast smiled. My eyes flickered blood red.
“But there is no scent of her. The package should arrive anytime soon.”
I shook in anger. How can she disappear like this?
“She must be a very skilled witch, then. In the Magic Kingdom, they sell a lot of tricks to hide and run. Witches are masters in sneaking in and out of places yet not one of those stunts is effective enough unless it’s personalized by the witch, reinforced by her inner power. We should assume this witch is mature and strong.”
Good, I am so glad.
“How do you know so much about witches?” I asked him. I did not see a witch mate in his file, and the female with him in that coffee shop was a Lycan, not a witch.
“My girlfriend is a witch from the East. She used to tell me some things about her species.”
I found that information very interesting.
"Adela is investigating witches... maybe your female can help us out. I have heard that some old witches could melt if someone threw water at them. My witch looks like a teenager, but I was told that is not a true indicator of her age." I hope she is not a minor; I would hate to wait for what I want to do with her as soon as I have her at my reach. The beast salivated at the thought.
"It is complicated between my witch and me." Leonard lowered his eyes, embarrassed. “We are not in speaking terms at the moment… Something to remember about witches, they held grouches for decades.” He laughed awkwardly. They are not together then. "And yes… the looks they have can be deceiving. They come of age when they receive their magic, and their hair changes to silver naturally. It usually happens when they turn eighteen. Before that, witches and warlocks are not allowed to leave the Magic Kingdom.”
“It was very informative; Mr. Walls, thank you!” Adela thanked him. “I am struggling to find accurate information about them.”
“Iron… is effective against them as it is against fairies?”
“It is like an allergy. A mild one for some witches, almost lethal for others.”
“How to know when it is lethal for them?” I asked, concerned.
“It is hard to tell. My witch said that those with tainted magic cannot touch iron at all. She is from the East and strong against iron. It can burn her skin but does not leave scars on her flesh. Her friend is from the North and very allergic; she never dares to touch it."
“So interesting!” Adela was taking notes of his explanations.
Leonard is an asset in more than one aspect.
Adela’s eyes flickered red. Someone was mind-linking her.
"Your Highness… There is a problem outside. Lady Lydia and Lady Marcela were fighting. They are here with their parents; they would like to talk to you."
“I can take my leave, Your Highness.” Leonard offered.
"No. I prefer to have a witness more besides Adela. Those females do not seem to understand, neither their families." This is my father's fault. He encouraged them until the last minute. "Allow them in."
Marcela and Lydia are tall blonds with fair skin both wear expensive dresses and jewelry. Both are daughters of noble Lycan families, rich and powerful.
They bowed when they walked in.
“What brings you here, my ladies and your parents as well?”
“Marcela thinks she has a claim on you, Your Highness. I had to clarify it to her.” Lydia was panting, tousled, one of her sleeves tore, a little better than Marcela. “Your eyes were on me!”
“Excuse me? His eyes were not on you, Lydia!”
"You Majesty… Please, the delay in appointing our daughter as your mate will only create more ruckus. And females like Lydia will assume they have a claim on you." Marcela's mother is more delusional than Lydia.
“I dated Andre; my claim is legit!”
"Our daughter has waited patiently for your Majesty. It is time for her reward. She has been nothing but faithful to you." Lydia's mother took a step forward, straightening her back and raising her chin.
“I appreciate both ladies and her families for their interest in me, but I did not appoint any of you as my Queen because none of you is my mate. My Lycan never felt any affinity with any of you. And Lydia… I dated you when we were twenty, and I specifically told you it was not going to happen. I do not know how else to explain this to any of you… I am not taking a Lycan Lady as my Queen. It is my final word, and unless you want me to issue a public decree about this, I would appreciate it if you both behave and move on. Thank you, and please close the door when you leave.”
The females and their families left in silence while Lydia eyed me with hate. I could not care less.
I am the freaking King. I am tired of their bullshit.
“Your Highness, that was…” Adela’s eyes were almost out of their sockets.
"Amazing!" Leonard grinned and almost clapped, but a glance from Adela silenced him.
“It is not wise to create more enemies, Your Highness! There are unhappy nobles after today, and now those families, too. They have resources, and one of them is related to your stepmother,” Adela has stated something I already know but I expect them to do something reckless to capture them and punish them, accordingly.
“I had to make it clear for them. I should make things clear for when my witch comes to me, don’t you think?”
Someone knocked on the door.
“Your Highness, I am sorry… but Alpha Richard and Luna Margaret request an urgent meeting with you.” Adela was mind-linked by the guards.
“Allow them in, or we will never leave my office,” I still must greet some people outside.
Richard and Margaret were nervous. They recognized Leonard there, but it seemed like they did not like him. I asked Adela to get information about the relation between Leonard and my relatives. That was a very weird interaction between them.
“We apologize for coming like this, Your Majesty, but we were informed about an urgent matter back at home," Richard told me, looking very stressed.
“What happened? Is there something I can help with?” I asked them. I honestly wanted to help my relatives.
“Our friends in Sunlight have registered rogues scouting their territory. A lot of them. They fear an attack might happen at any time.”
“Rogues?” Wolves get crazy without a pack. “I am sorry, I do not know where Sunlight territory is.”
“It is werewolf territory, not so far from Saint Isabella. If your Majesty agrees, Luca -my Lieutenant- can command our forces in that town to flight there and support Sunlight pack. Only volunteers since they are resting there with their families.”
“We would appreciate any help for our friends. We must leave immediately; our pack might be in danger as well.”
"Dear Moon Goddess, you are my allies and my relatives. I will ask my pilot to take you in my plane."
Margaret looked green for a moment. Werewolves hate flying. Lycans are not so against it, but it is because we are stronger.
“We appreciate the gesture; any help is welcomed.” Richard bowed, taking the hand of his mate.
They left my office in a hurry, while Leonard went to a corner to speak with his Lieutenant in Saint Isabella by the phone. I did not consider the life and the work Leonard is leaving behind in that town.
“It is settled, your Majesty. Luca will take a small group of our Lycans to Sunlight since you are fine with this. I know them. They are good fighters. No rogue is a match for our kind.”
I nodded at him.
“Leonard, I will not ask you to move immediately to Lycan territory. I will give you time to settle your situation with your witch.”
"Thank you, Your Highness." He grinned. "I will work hard to earn back the trust of my witch."
"I hope so. Your witch can become a friend for my witch when you move in Lycan territory." My plan is perfect. She will have company.
Meanwhile, the clothes arrived in a plastic bag. My Lycans were careful when packing them for me. I did not want any lingering scent of a male in them.
“Getting back to the purpose of this meeting,” I told him once he was back into our conversation. “I met my female at a club named Blue Wings. A witch. She was wearing a mask on her face. The owners of Blue Wings are very stubborn. They do not want to give us any information neither the security videos. Derrick left four guards lead by Tom in Saint Isabella, looking for a clue.”
“We can ask for the recordings from the security cameras around Blue Wings," Leonard suggested. “The city town might give us a hard time about it, but your office can request it as an official matter. They will not refuse to help you if there is a cause
, a proper one."
“And if I do not want to reveal the cause?” What if I place her in danger by looking for her openly as my fated mate? Adela is right. Noble families are mad at me.
"As an official matter, they will agree as long there is a reason. Saint Isabella is a sanctuary for all species to do commerce. They protect not only the residents but also the visitors. Rogues attacked the city a while ago caused by the corruption of the former Mayor. It was a big scandal and bad for business there."
“We will claim that the witch took something from me without intention. But I do not seek punishment, just find her,” I am not lying, the silver hair witch took my life and my future with her, but she does not even know.
"Even though the out team has photos of the clothes, and they saw the witch. Perhaps, it might help with the search if you also have them." Adela suggested, and I agreed.
Adela placed the outfit covered in plastic on my desk for Leonard to look at it and take photos. His hands moved automatically over it, but I pulled it away before he could touch it.
My Lycan growled menacingly, it might not have her scent on it, but the fabric covered her body the first time I saw her. No male beside me will touch it, ever.
“No hands!” I warned him, almost like a roar. I had to take a deep breath to control my beast within.
Leonard was visibly troubled, bowed, and took his leave. I did not apologize, by the beast did not allow me.
“Your Majesty, I think you scared him.” Adela pointed when Leonard closed the door behind him. “Your aura is so strong now!”
"I know. I need to find my witch as soon as possible to control the beast.”
“Your Highness… I think it was not clear for Mr. Walls, who is this witch for you.”
“Leonard has to follow my orders. I am his King. Besides, I made evident my interest in the witch. What else should he know?”
"I guess you are right. Once your witch appears, it will be evident to him and everyone else that she is your fated mate." Sometimes, Adela is happier than me about my mate. Her earlier apprehension about it changed as she began to learn more about witches.
“Yes, you do not ask what is evident.”
