Chapter 47: Kassandra's portal

-Andre- "Dying? You said you are dying?" Blanche's voice was in disbelief. Kassandra seemed healthy and young. How so is that female dying? If Blanche didn't believe her, neither did I. I took a deep breath of the heavenly scent of my mate before releasing Blanche to grab the sweatpants Adela handed me. I was ass naked despite my mate's kind attempt to cover me. "Where is Cara?" I asked, mind linking Adela, "she can't get away!" "She is in custody, Your Highness," Adela answered me. "Your father, the former King Eleazar, took care of her by himself." Is she proud of him? "What trick are you trying to pull on us now?" Blanche accused her grandmother. I trusted Adela and focused on the scene unfolding. "A trick?" Kassandra gasped. "I could never lie about something so serious." "You had lied all your life, Kassandra. Why would you stop now?" "You don't know what you are talking about," Kassandra retorted. "Yeah, exactly! I knew very little about you! Remember, I used to admire you, not knowing you received years of alimony from Charles that were meant for me!" “Are you seriously bringing that up now?" Kassandra glared. Child, you need to move on and grow up. That is ancient history!" She paused. "Tsk, tsk, tsk, as if you didn't know your mother... Miriam would never have accepted it, anyway! Besides, I used it well and took care of you both!" “You must be joking!" Blanche fumed, "oh, Goddess, I can't believe you!" she shrieked, clenching her fists. "I did what I could! You are a very ungrateful witch, Blanche. Did you know that? I came all the way here…” “Ungrateful?” Blanche gasped, more offended than Kassandra was before. The female shrugged her shoulders and looked at Mina, avoiding Blanche's eyes. "You sold your potions to Cara, knowing it would harm me... Andre could have died... And you did it all for money! You are the reason we are all here now!" Blanche screamed again. "Exactly, because I helped!" I can't understand the logic of that female. “Kassandra, you stubborn evil witch!" Blanche stepped towards her angrily, but I grabbed her arm, stopping her. No sudden movements or she would escape. I warned Blanche in silence. "You know what? Forget it! Give me back my cat! You will harm her!" I don't know what will do to Blanche if something happens to Mina. "Don't listen to her, little kitty! I am nothing like that," she cooed Mina, petting the little one against her cheek, "not anymore, at least." My Lycan and I hated our cat away and in Kassandra's claws. Fuck, what if Kassandra drops Mina or throws her away to escape? I am in bad shape now. My Lycan was not helping, still dizzy from the poison. Kassandra might have helped save me, but she is also responsible for what happened today. Taking her down will not be easy. "Give back my cat!" Blanche shrieked before I opened my mouth. "She is happy with me, Blanche. Maybe I should take her with me." Is that a threat? I barely held a growl. No one messes with my family, and Mina is part of my little family with Blanche. Everyone was wary of me losing control again, so I checked my emotions. One slip was more than enough for the night, and my Lycan agreed. It was awful to feel like that. "You wouldn't dare!" Blanche menaced her. "Mina is mine! I mean... ours!" She pointed at both of us. I nodded. Kassandra shrugged her shoulders again and pouted. I noticed how she evaluated her surroundings. “Still, you owe me, darling.” Kassandra raised her chin, keeping Mina in her arms. “I should receive some compensation before leaving.” "There will be no retribution, and you are not leaving, grandmother. We are not letting you go." Blanche crossed her arms in front of her chest smugly. "Are you talking about the witches of your coven, the fairy, and the Lycans? Do you think you can stop me?" The moment a smirk appeared on Kassandra’s lips, I knew she had a plan. Kassandra Lebrun was a survivor, and she was determined to get away. Just like with my Blanche, I could sense the fire that lived in Kassandra. She was a force to reckon, so I alerted the guards outside my office to stay in position and be ready to contain an attack. "I'm telling you. I don't have time for this." Kassandra said, as if we could not understand something simple despite her efforts. "There is no escape, grandmother," Blanche stated as a matter of fact. “Alright, let’s make a deal.” Kassandra took a relaxed stance before us. "I can settle with that necklace you wore all the time before tonight. Then I will give you back the kitty… and leave in peace. No harm, no fault, darlings.” Does she mean the engagement necklace I gave to Blanche? “That was your goal from the start, wasn’t it?" Blanche guessed. "I need it; it is a life-or-death situation, Baby B," she explained. “It is a gift from the Moon Goddess!” Adela exclaimed, alarmed and offended. Of course, it has ancient magic! “There is no way, Kassandra.” Blanche answered her for me. The witch cooed Mina, kissing her head. The kitty meowed, unaware of this danger... Weird, Mina had a stronger reaction towards Lydia. Is this Kassandra that bad? f**k, if I haven't read those reports, I would have not believed them by looking at her acting so nicely with our cat. But Kassandra is a criminal, and she is Cara’s accomplice. “You are outnumbered," Circe stated, taking a step forward. “Circe! I am so glad to see you. I almost didn’t recognize you. You have lost weight and your skin… Oh, darling, it looks so much better now. Good for you.” "What was that, Kassandra? I barely felt the attack." Circe replied teasingly. “Oh, really?” Kassandra chuckled, amused. “What if I mention Xavier? I couldn't attend his wedding with your little sister, but I was told it was such a big event! I wonder… Did he get his sight back or lose it?” "Kassandra! Stop!" Blanche rebuked her. “Blanche, she provoked me with that question. And nothing I said was a lie! Circe, you are free now. Are you not? See, starving and caring for your skin paid off! Otherwise, you would still be by his side as his best friend... He chose your sister, and that sets you free!" Circe shook, clenching her fists at her sides, pursing her lips in a thin line, angry. Kassandra laughed at Circe’s response, and Blair hissed loudly. "Circe! Blair, you know what she is doing," Andry said as he tightened his grip on Blair's hand. “Sticks and stones may break my bones…" Blair whispered. “But words can never hurt me.” I have heard something like that before. Is that an enchantment? Circe squared her shoulders and repeated Blair’s words under her breath, chanting them over and over, while staring at Kassandra. Kassandra must know them all and what can hurt them to distract them and escape. "Blair, Blair, Blair… Oh, dear. You might be the worst of all. A witch’s heart is a precious gift to give to anyone! Blanche at least gave it to the king.” What is that supposed to mean? Blanche eyed me nervously. “And from all the males who could have been your lover, why did you have to choose her?” She pointed at Andy. "No wonder your parents disowned you… Tsk, tsk, tsk." Kassandra clasped her tongue disapprovingly. "You should address Andy as he, not she!" Blair's voice was a high pitch. "And I don't care what my parents or anyone thinks or says! Andy is my male! Mine!" She puffed her chest up. What are they talking about? “Don’t pay attention to her, babe. She is trying to get at us.” Andy said, holding Blair in his arms. He was calm and ignored anything that came from Kassandra’s lips. “We have a long life to enjoy together and forget about ignorant beings like her." Blair smiled at him. I looked at Andy, paying more attention now. All I see is a guy... I understood nothing. "It's enough, Kassandra! No one will fall into your tricks. Give me Mina back, now!" “And if I don’t agree with such a request?” Kassandra smirked deviously at Blanche. “Then, what?” I urged my Lycan to speed up our healing. He was so slow! “A special squad from our Kingdom is coming to arrest you, Kassandra," Morgana explained, and a single strand of her hair turned into a thick rope. Incredible. "Stop this crap. Your game is over." Morgana insisted. “A special what is coming?” I linked to Adela. Apparently, Charles felt the intrusion because of the protection spell. He tried to reach us all to warn us, but it was already late. He sent help instead, noticing only a blood relative could have deceived the measures Blanche took. I remembered my phone rang before everything turned red. Blanche had disappeared; I couldn't sense her anywhere, and my Lycan took over, blinding me. Damn, I could have slaughtered so many in the palace and never gotten back to Blanche. My Lycan whined in my mind at the thought, and I regretted losing control. “Oh, my Goddess! You are even prettier than I remember, Morgana.” Kassandra paid all her attention to Morgana with sudden glee. Then, her face twisted sour before saying, "But you think you can talk to me like this because my money is no longer good enough.” “You insisted!" Morgana yelled. "And I paid you back, Kassandra!" she looked at Blanche, embarrassed. "I knew it already, grandmother," Blanche crossed her arms. "We are at peace about that." It's no longer a secret between them as friends. Kassandra shrugged again. "No kind words for me, Kassandra?" Francisco asked with a chuckle, standing at the door's frame, expecting a verbal blow in his direction from Kassandra. "I might get offended." He laughed. "A raven will always be a raven, Francisco! What can I say that you haven't heard before?" She smiled, sadly. "Besides... I am grateful to you for loving my Miriam. You made her happy." Francisco lowered his guard at the mention of Blanche's mother. I looked at Adela, but she didn't seem jealous or upset about Francisco's reaction. Miriam was still someone very important to him. "We are not talking about any of that, Kassandra! You can't weaken my friends or me. It's over, grandma. Accept it!" The witches took their fighting stances. This situation was about to turn hostile, and in the crossed fire was Mina. “I strongly advise you to give us back our Mina," I demanded. “Lycan King, I like you better than Leon," she mentioned the traitor and smiled sweetly. "But you should not mess with witches' business.” "Were you not asking for something that belongs to my family to save your life? Did you not sell potions to my stepmother to take over my Kingdom? Is not my mate standing before you? I am sorry, but I beg to differ from you, madam. I have all the right to be here.” She can't kick me out of my own office! "I like you, Andre, King of Lycans. So I advise you to go upstairs, check on your father and deal with whatever he did under tonight's incantation. The last time a potion influenced him, he got Cara pregnant… I can only wonder what he did! This time, he was truly interested in that lady... I saw him on my way to pick up Blanche." “My father did what?” Is she implying what I think she is implying? Which lady? I am so freaking mad right now! “You don’t even curse, don’t you? Blanche, he is adorable!” I opened and closed my mouth, composing myself. My father blocked me with irritation and shame. What happened? "Later, Andre." Blanche turned to look at me, and her touch calmed me down, but my brain was still figuring things out from Kassandra’s words. Stupid! I almost kicked myself. That was Kassandra's mind game, distract us. “This is a game for you, but it will not work, grandma! I want my kitty back; she is special to me.” “Oh, yeah… She is very special, indeed." Kassandra lifted Mina to her eyesight and stared at her eyes, forgetting about us completely. "I just wonder…" a more genuine smile curled Kassandra's lips. Mina meowed while Kassandra tilted her head from one side to another, examining her. Then she looked at Blanche and me with shining eyes. “We have the upper hand, grandma.” Kassandra huffed. "Children, I am a witch with many skills that I have gained and matured over years of study and practice. Go back to sleep, enjoy the lives you have chosen, and forget about me... Only you, Blanche, baby... listen to grandma. I will take care of everything. I just need…" "No!" Blanche took a step forward, and so did the others. The environment was getting tenser by the second. "Darling, I am not asking. I am telling you." Kassandra stowed Mina in her clothes to free her hands. "I'm going to kick everyone's ass here in less than a minute; after that, I will take the cat and the necklace with me… Because I need them. Well, I need the necklace, but Mina is a bonus." Kassandra smirked and turned. She went to the painting of my parents hanging on the wall behind my desk. She knew where the safe was! Cara must have told her where to look for! Morgana and Circe were closer to Kassandra and were the first to be surprised by a second Kassandra, who emerged from her shadow and fought them off from the original one. Blanche and I went towards Kassandra, ready. I had half shifted into my Lycan, but the fucker was still weak! There was some remaining poison still in my bloodstream. If only I could connect one blow with enough power on her, the battle would be over! However, Mina was on Kassandra's chest! Blanche and I had to be careful. I was getting angry. Kassandra dodged any attempt from us to grab her; she was damn fast, or I couldn't move fast enough! "Watch out!" Francisco yelled. "What do you...?" Blair was asking when another Kassandra appeared behind her and grabbed her hair from the back of her head. That Kassandra pulled Blair and kicked Andy's head before he could turn. The blow went straight against Andy's ear. She locked her arm around Blair's neck, choking her while booting Andy, breaking his nose. Blair fell unconscious, and an enraged Andy launched at that Kassandra, despite his bloody nose. Yet he couldn't display his wings because Kassandra threw Blair against him with such power that fly them thru the window. Morgana and Circe were already unconscious on the floor. The second Kassandra laughed and tied them up with the same rope Morgana created with her hair. Everything happened so fast while Blanche and I fought Kassandra, keeping her from the safe. She cackled like crazy, and then I noticed a fourth Kassandra attacked my guards and Francisco. How many replicas did this witch create? Unbelievable! Adela went to help Francisco at the door. Was the fourth Kassandra more powerful than the others? She beat down Francisco and used a force shield, keeping my Lycans outside the office. Adela did better against Kassandra but couldn't defeat her. The second Kassandra came to fight me. She was not playing like the original did. I blocked punches and kicks at a fast speed. "You can't use one of my moves against me more than once, darling." Kassandra laughed at Blanche when she tried to punch her in the ribs. "f**k!" Blanche screamed. She understood the original Kassandra was playing with her. The replicas teamed up against me. I wondered. If defeating the real Kassandra could end this fight? I had never seen a witch in action before; the stories about the war of species didn't exaggerate the power of witches. "The necklace!" Adela warned me, but the second Kassandra had already opened the safe as another Kassandra kept me busy. She smiled with the necklace in her hand. "The window!" Adela linked me. So I pushed away from the Kassandra I was fighting and went to the window to block that exit, since Adela guarded the door, keeping at bay the fourth Kassandra. I just needed one more minute to heal, and I will make Kassandra pay for everything she did tonight! The original Kassandra stopped laughing and punched Blanche in her stomach, pushing her away. My witch fell, and I roared from my spot. I got her before she hit the floor, worried about her. But Blanche was mad at me. Kassandra got the opening she needed to escape. I thought she would flee using the window. But no, she grabbed a handful of strange dust from a red satchel, and threw it against the mirror, opening a portal to flee.
