Chapter 36: I am falling in love

3171 Words
-Blanche- I introduced Mina to her siblings. And in no time, Fergus allowed my kitty to jump on his back to follow me around. Even I was amazed at how well the large dogs received Mina. It will be easy to keep them with us at night because Andre and I need… brakes. My dreams on my meadow with Andre’s Lycan are so vivid that it is like cheating on him with... him. It felt weird, so I told him about those wild dreams, and we ended up making out so he could prove to me he kisses better when I am awake. Truth to be told, I am conflicted. Both sides of Andre are amazing. And he does these things with his tongue… it is a movement that just.… Wow! “Considering how this kitty arrived in your life, she must be your guardian animal. You are blessed, witch! She will grow into a lioness.” Morgana said and lifted my kitty in her arms, where my poor one mewled. What a lioness can my kitty be? I laughed. Fergus perked his ears at the loss of his precious charge, but I petted his back, soothing him. Ow! He worries for his little sister! The three dogs were around me, lying on the floor, keeping my friends just close enough. Mina stretched in Morgana’s lap. Their ears stood up alert, but a new lazy meow from the kitty relaxed them. “Well, the three dogs and the cat are your guardians for sure.” Circe joked, looking at my babies. "I have never seen animals so attached to a witch before.” Petra placed her big head on my lap, asking me to pet her. “I am not that kind of special witch… and these are just pure souls, not guardians of any witch. Besides, this is Lycan territory! Our rules do not apply. " Animals from our territory are magical, and they choose who to protect. It is not like you can buy or adopt one. They choose you, not the other way around. “They might not be magical, but their energy is protecting you. I can feel it, and I know what I say, witch.” Blair knows what she says. She is a witch from the south and in sync with nature. “It was your destiny to find them.” The same way I found Andre. I smiled widely because I am so happy right now. “It is just love for little old me. What is more magical than love?" I answered them. “And there is plenty of that magic here, don’t you think?” Circe remarked. Andre sent fruits and desserts, guessing I was in the mood for something sweet today. He nails it nine out ten times… Love… I giggled, thinking of that word, and what it means to me. “You are glowing, witch!” Morgana laughed and gave me back a sleepy Mina. I love the color of her eyes. The dogs stayed calm since they sensed no one here wants to harm me. They might be right to some extent because I feel loved here. It is too early to even consider the L word. However, I guess… I do glow now. My witch friends attended the morning training session I offer to my ladies after breakfast. Marcela did not go back to her house this weekend, and I was glad about it. She looks better, worried but at least not hurt... While Olena… My witches and I looked at her, concerned. One of my ladies is wearing magic powder and the other one, fairy concealer. We are witches, and even if they were not covering bruises, they are not using the right skin tone to hide something... They cannot see it, but we do. Morgana, Circe, Blair, and Andy came to help us set a trap for the traitors. If they are foolish enough to try something against Andre, we will be ready! Andy even convinced Jess to come. Jess is the chief designer of My Fairy Godmother boutique and one of the four owners. She is finishing the dresses I offered for my ladies with her tailors and modistes, considering their taste and style. Besides, they received requests from more lady Lycans. Jess knows I offered her a good deal, which benefited her business and our purposes. This morning, my five ladies improved during training while Lidia stays the same. She throws daggers at me with her eyes, which distracted her from the goal of this exercise. I sense there must be a story behind Marcela’s. And I would like to help her, but if she or anyone tries to harm Andre or wants to force him to do something against his will… They all have something else coming at them! Tomorrow night is the party for Tricia's birthday. Circe and Blair accompanied me to open a big box with gifts for my Ladies. Besides a dress from My Fairy Godmother boutique for this party, I have offered complimentary jewelry. I have provided something special for all six of them. "Please, accept my gift. I appreciate your time and work is by my side. I have asked my favorite store to send these brooches to you. Each design is unique, and I hope it matches your taste and goes well with your new dresses.” I offered them showing them the treasure. “Nice cut, perfectly flawless gemstones…" Lidia's eyes shined and spoke from her heart. I think I have known from the start… but her expression confirms my suspicions. Lidia looks at Andre the same way she looks at these objects. She does not love Andre… Lidia wants him the same way she wants something precious to possess. This female would never understand Andre or what he wants to do for this Kingdom. f**k her! She would never encourage him to fight for his dreams or to be a good leader for their people. Lidia was the first one to choose her brooch. Lorenza was the second to choose hers. She has never given me the vibe to be interested in Andre as a male, or something to possess. In fact, I think her eyes are on another Lycan, but I hope I am wrong. It would be… trouble, especially because this other male is not entirely indifferent. Oh, sweet Goddess! I foresee trouble if I do not intervene. Maybe I should get Circe to talk to Lorenza about the drama and the heartache certain feelings can bring on someone her age. My other ladies were happy with their choices. They are happy with their lives and more than satisfied with their intended mates. Everyone chose a brooch, but Lidia stayed and asked me if she could lend her a necklace to enhance the effect of her dress. Lidia and Marcela are copying my style. I agreed, and Morgana stood up to bring a velvet case with the right necklace for this. Again, her eyes sparkled looking at the big pink diamond. "You have impeccable taste.” Lidia did not call me my Queen, as others do. “Years of experience.” I bragged. Expensive jewelry is an investment and safety. "And hard work," I added. If I am loaded is because I worked hard and smart. My bank accounts are currently frozen during the investigation related to Kassandra's case; I am running out of petty cash since I paid for all the gifts Andre bought me, despite his protests. However, my jewels were not seized since they were in my safety at my place in werewolf territory. I winked at Morgana when Lidia left. She returned to me with a knowing smile. Andre came for me and took me to a family room where I would meet his younger sisters. Mina was in my arms while Petra, Fergus, and Argus followed us without a leash. I am never alone in the palace and even with Andre, my babies followed me. Two strong Lycans in their uniforms were standing at a large carved wood door. Andre's hold on to me got tighter, and I realized one or both must be unmated. I have noticed that detail, too. Andre gets jealous easily, but he never complains to me about how he feels about my clothes or makeup. He always tells me I look beautiful and directs his anger to the male staring too much, not me. We could hear the screams between two females. “Why can I not wear the dress I want?” “Because you are a lady!” It was Cara, clearly irritated. “I am a princess! I can do whatever I want!” The argument was interesting. Too bad our presence stopped them from going on at it. The teenager curtsied with another child who must be Magaly. Both girls were wearing the same green dress, and it was the kind of dress you would put on a doll. Both had their hair in a tight braid. So, Cara wanted her girls to look like dolls… Tricia looks so much like Andre, despite the blond hair, the same stubborn expression. My lips curled up in an involuntary smile. Magaly had a round face and more physical traces of Tricia, but with a kind nature. She left her tablet aside when she noticed us. Magaly was not paying attention to the argument between her mother and Tricia. What site was she checking so attentively? “Andre…” Cara greeted him with a stone face. “Blanche, please allow me to introduce you to my daughters. Tricia is my oldest… And this one is Magaly, my second beautiful girl.” “Brother.” They said together and curtsied again as a greeting. “Queen Blanche, nice meeting you.” They must have rehearsed that greeting. “Nice meeting you, girls.” “I hope you are enjoying good health.” Andre was too formal with them. "Yes, we are," Tricia frowns just like Andre. “But Lucy is not well," Magaly added, and I noticed Cara elbowed her to shut her up. “Ouch!” She complained but tried to cover it with a cough, later. “That is why my father is not here, right?” Andre questioned. "Our father is with her," Tricia stressed the word “our”. Andre was uncomfortable. There is so much to read in their brief interaction! “May I know what happened? Maybe I can do something for her.” I offered. “Are you a doctor?” Tricia asked. “My Queen.” She lowered her head at Andre's hostile expression. I rubbed circles with my thumb on his hand. It worked, so I looked at the teenager instead of her mother. “Well, I am this kind of witch that knows a lot of things about herbs and potions that help some and heal others. Do you mind if I look at her?” I have a f*****g degree in potions. Magaly pulled the sleeve of Tricia, and Tricia looked at her. Cara rolled her eyes, irritating me. “It is nothing serious.” Cara wave it off, but Magaly neither Tricia looked convinced. "We are really sorry to bother you, Queen Blanche. But could come with us?" Magaly offered me her little hand, and I accepted, disregarding Cara’s babbling. “I do not know what happened to our Lucy,” Tricia said, on our way to the nursery room. Andre had mixed emotions inside of him, as I could tell. Cara just came along. I hope her attitude is caused by the mildness of the situation. Unfortunately, it was not. Eleazar was holding a two-year-old who was crying furiously. She was so red. But she was not calling for her mother. If what I am right considering Tricia's words and the baby’s behavior... I am angrier at Cara now. Children being responsible for children, Goddess! "We have done everything the doctors asked. But she does not stop crying.” Eleazar was desperate. “At least diarrhea stopped?" Tricia asked, concerned. "Yes, but... " Eleazar said but I interrupted. "What other symptoms does she have?” “She does not have a fever. It is not poison!” Cara stated, crossing her arms. “I fired her nanny and now she misses her. This is just a tantrum she is throwing at us for attention.” “I still cannot believe you fired our nanny.” Tricia glared at her mother as Magaly hugged her waist. "Elba loved us!" Magaly cried. Even Eleazar gave Cara a nasty glare, rocking the child in his arms. Nothing soothed the child. It was not a tantrum. Baby Lucy was in pain. “Andre, can you do me a favor?" He nodded. "Please, can you get Blair to come here with my bag and her expensive one? She will know what I mean." I know I can trust Andre. “Suddenly, you are an expert on pups?” Cara asked in a mocking tone. “I know a lot about Children of the Moon." It is not only my education, but I also have spent years in werewolf territory. Lycans and werewolves have similar weaknesses. Eleazar allowed me to examine Lucy. Her tummy was tender, she vomited and had diarrhea before. Her mouth was dried despite the tears and her cries. Also, no mucus. I asked permission to undress Lucy when Blair arrived with my bag. Cara, Eleazar, Andre, and Magaly left the room to let us work. Tricia refused, as Lucy looked for her in her tears. The little chubby arms opened towards Tricia. The cry of a baby is almost unbearable to my poor heart. Whatever is hurting baby Lucy, I will stop it. “Children of the moon have better health than human children. They do not need vaccines. They do not get sick with human diseases. What do you think it is?” I asked Blair. “Lucy’s first symptoms started two days ago,” Tricia said. "Two days!" How can Cara go to sleep, knowing her baby was like this? “Blanche, it was some kind of poison… an intoxication perhaps?” Blair knows what she is talking about. However, Cara was so convinced it was not... "But if tested, and it came out negative for poison...” Lycan doctors examined her and found nothing. “Perhaps she touched something poisonous…” "Was Lucy exposed to any flower or plant different from the usual?" I asked Tricia. "Elba took Magaly and Lucy to the botanical garden three days ago. She asked permission from my father, but still, my mother fired her! They had guards. It was safe to go there!" Tricia explained as she rocked the baby, who was tired of crying. "I should have gone, Lulu." She rubbed the back of Lucy. Blair and I rushed to our bags. My friend had a big white bottle. It will tell the body to fight the poison by itself for a few hours. It is temporary while I search for the type of poisonous plant or flower Lucy was in contact with. Blair included a mild sedative to help the baby sleep and went outside to inform Lucy’s parents of what we found out and the following actions. I had a silver needle in my hand. And I must look like an evil witch to Tricia and Lucy, but I need a sample of Lucy’s blood to find the type of poison and prepare the antidote before Blair gives her medicine to soothe her pain. “Are you not going to eat?” Andre asked me when I was working on the antidote in my lab. The girls would have helped, but they know I am the best one with potions. "I have found the plant Lucy was in contact with. Only an hour more and it will be done." Unfortunately, it must be drunk, and it is bitter. Antidotes are always bitter. “Tricia came with something for you to eat. It is not poisoned. I got it tested.” I chuckled at the joke. "Let the child in," I told him, taking a seat. “I do not want to be away from my cauldron.” “Alright, but I will stay.” “I am a grown-up witch while she is a still fifteen-year-old who does not have her Lycan yet. I can beat her ass." Tricia is practically a human. “I will not take the chances, not even the sightliest.” Andre looked at me with an intensity that shook me to my bones but adverted his eyes suddenly. We have not spent an entire life together, but there is something in his voice and the way he looked at me. Andre wants to tell me something... What is holding him back? “Hi…” Tricia was holding a golden tray with a bowl of fruit salad and a glass of water. "I want to apologize for my behavior earlier. I should have not…" She took a deep breath, staring straight at me. "I am sorry. And thank you for helping Lucy.” Not even Cara thanked me. "Do not worry about it." I grinned, accepting the food, and placing it on another counter. “You just wanted to protect your baby sister.” “And I am sorry to the both of you for the drama earlier. A princess should not behave like that with her mother.” She knows we heard them. "Like what?" I asked while Andre stayed out of it completely. "Like a spoiled brat?" she explained, lowering her gaze. Her cheeks were pink. I have decided I like this girl. “What teenager does not fight with their parents?” I replied to her with a question. “Andre… He was perfect.” She eyed her older brother, but the mentioned one did not say a word. Andre is the one irritating me now with his silence. “I do not know about Andre when he was your age, but… I promise you; a spoiled brat does not acknowledge to be one and even less apologize for it." Tricia smiled and thanked me again. “By the way, how is the dress you want to wear for your party? Jess is lazing around; she can do something about your predicament.” “But…” “It is your party. You should wear what you feel more comfortable with.” Besides, if Cara gets angry, I will enjoy this party a lot. “Lucy is better, and once she drinks this bitter medicine… She will be as good as new, and her parents, the adults, will take care of her. Do not worry.” "And I will look for your nanny, Elba. I will hire her back if she wants to come back. Just do not tell Cara.” Finally, the male I am falling in love with spoke...! Wait… What?
