Today is my eighteenth birthday. I was pacing back and forth in front of the castle. I stopped pacing as soon as I saw Sophia. I was waiting for her. Sophia was nothing but smiles. I was waiting for news about my dad. My father did as he promised. He no longer comes and sees me because of Domina’s jealousy. But I do get letters and gifts from my father and Mira.
"Look what I have for the birthday girl!" Sophia said excitedly.
"What is it? I have been waiting for an entire year for my gifts!" I said, running toward her.
Sophia looked at the wrapped gifts and handed one to me. "This one is from your dad."
I took it from her. "Let’s open them in the gardens," I suggested.
"Let’s go," Sophia said, pointing.
