My aunt was up and at 'em already. Miles was making breakfast and I was getting used to my new surroundings. I have my schoolwork to keep me busy and my aunt always has me on the go. I'm not complaining by any means. I have gotten lost quite a few times though.
"Good morning, sweetheart. How did you sleep?"
"I feel asleep studying again."
"It's only been a short time. Don't wear yourself out." She's kind to me and I am grateful for the opportunity to make new memories.
"What the heck is that? It's eight in the friggin' morning."
"They are probably working on the road. It's no big deal."
"Aren't they supposed to inform you of any work they do?"
"They don't bother half the time."
"I'm going out there to find out what is going on."
"Freedom. Sweetheart, it's fine. Let them do their job."
I didn't listen and I stomped my way outside. The workers had just started the jackhammer. Who the fck does that this early in the day? I noticed the cop directing the traffic. Most of the time, they don't know their ass from their elbow and they spend most of their time on their cell phone anyway. I yelled, but the jackhammer was making too much noise. He didn't hear me. I tried again to call him but still no response. To get the officer's attention, I tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around and if it wasn't for my wolf hearing I don't think I would've heard him.
"MATE!" I took in his features as he clenched his jaw. I wasn't sure how to react to the situation. He had beautiful gold-colored eyes. My mind was blank. Without saying a single word, I turned around and ran back to my aunt's house.
"What are you doing?" Jillette asked me. Never before have I heard her voice sound so shrill.
"I don't know."
"He's our mate. Go back. Now."
"Why does he not have a scent?"
"Who knows? He knew who we were to him. Go back."
"No."
I slammed the door and leaned against it. I tried my best to calm my fast beating heart. *BANG BANG BANG BANG* I jumped off of the door and stared at it. He was beating on the door so hard I thought he was going to take it off the hinges. My aunt came out of the kitchen and I knew she saw how afraid I was. I shook my head and headed for my room. I wasn't ready to face him again. I've been here for a month and I randomly run into my mate who, by the way, is a police officer. Nothing wrong with that, but I'm not ready for this to happen to me. I didn't close my door because I knew my aunt was going to answer it.
"THIS IS THE POLICE, OPEN THE DOOR." Sure enough, my aunt opened the door. "Excuse me, ma'am. I'm looking for the young lady that just ran in here." She won't allow him to come up here, will she?
"My, my, my, you are one handsome man." I agree with that statement. He was a handsome man, though he looked older than me by some years.
"Thank you. Is she available?" No, I'm not.
"I'm afraid she is a little shy." My aunt was trying her hardest to let him down gently.
"She doesn't want to see me?" He sounded disappointed.
"Young man, she's young. You look like you have ten years on her. Do you have a card? I'll be sure to give it to her. Let her make the first move."
"Thank you, Mrs. Abbot. When she gets a chance."
"Your welcome. Bye-bye." As soon as the door was closed, I made my way downstairs.
"Thank you, auntie."
"What is going on with you? That man was your mate, was he not?"
"He said the word, but I didn't react to that."
"Here's his card. When you are ready, reach out."
"Thank you for saving my butt."
"A mate is a special being. If we are lucky enough to meet them, you should always give them the benefit of the doubt."
"Ya. I know I should be feeling something, but why am I not feeling a thing?"
"I don't know. That's for you to figure out."
I spent some time staring out the window at the wolf, who knows I'm his mate. I played with the card he handed my aunt. I haven't even looked at his name. In all honesty, I was afraid to. He kept looking at the house and I wondered if he knew I was looking at him as well. I kept watching as the workers packed up and they all took their leave. My aunt was nowhere to be found so I went to my room. Sitting on my bed, I finally looked at the card I'd been holding onto. His name is Officer Sebastian Moorrisson. A lightbulb went off in my head. I opened my laptop to search for him on social media sites. They might give me some insight into what kind of man he is.
Like I said, he looked older than me, so I tried f*******: first. There he was on my screen with his pretty eyes. I checked his information and learned he lived in Savannah and was single. The picture that came up on his feed said something else. It was him kissing a female and it was posted on New Year's. A lot could happen since we are heading into June. I took it as he was in a relationship and had never updated his status. He is nine years older than me and his birthday passed a few weeks ago. I don't know why I felt as if I had just lost someone I've known my entire life. I don't know this man. I can't be sure he really is my mate. Why didn't I pick up a scent? It should've driven me to him and sent Jillette into a frenzy, but that did not happen. I inhaled as I picked up my phone and dialed his number. I should at least give him the courtesy of telling him I don't want to interfere in his current life. Waiting for him to answer the phone was killing me.
"Hello?" Instead of hearing a deep male voice, the voice that answered was feminine.
"What are you doing?" I heard him say. "Damn it, Sophia. This is my work phone. You can't just answer it. Hello?" I hung up when he finally addressed me. I couldn't do it. He was already upset enough. I jumped and threw my phone in the air when my phone rang. It was the number I had just dialed returning my call.
"Hello?" I answered with a timid voice because I knew he was going to be mad that I had hung up on him.
"Hi, this is Officer Moorrisson. Did someone just call me from this number?"
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bother you or cause a fight."
"You didn't cause a fight. May I ask who's calling?"
"Ya, sorry. I'm the girl from this morning. Forget I called. I don't want to ruin what you already have going. It was a mistake to call you." I hung up. It was the only thing I could do to end the embarrassment I felt. Moments later, my phone began ringing again and again. Ignoring the incessant ringing, I decided on joining my aunt for supper. A chat couldn't hurt either.
"Did you call him?"
"Yep."
"And?"
"He has a girlfriend. I don't want to talk about it. Let's eat and then I'll join you in the living room to watch a movie."
"Sounds good." After supper, my aunt got comfy on the couch as I prepared snacks for us to enjoy while we watched Top Gun. Who can resist a man in aviator sunglasses?
My aunt and I were half way through the movie when there was a knock on the door. My aunt wasn't expecting anyone and neither was I. I told her to stay put and I would answer the door. Miles was busy as well. As I opened the door, I, for some reason, was looking down. When I lifted my head, my eyes connected with a pair of gold-colored ones.
"Hello." I freaked out and tried shutting the door on him. He caught the door before I crushed his hand. I was using all I had to close the door but I was no match for this man.
"Why are you running away from me?"
"I'm not. I swear." I am, but only because I'm not sure what is going on. The mate bond is nothing like I was taught it was going to be.
"You did earlier. Then you called and hung up. I called back and you hung up again. I figured you couldn't hang up if I was standing in front of you, but you proved me wrong by trying to close the door in my face." He was right. I stopped trying to close the door on the man.
"Sweetheart, I'm off to bed. Oh. Hello again, young man. It's nice to see you."
"Mrs. Abbot. It's nice to see you again as well. It's also nice to be seen."
"Let me help you to bed, auntie."
"I'm fine. I can manage on my own. You kids have fun."
"Auntie." I protested, because there are nights she needs a little extra help.
"I'm good, sweetheart. Sit, finish watching your movie, talk, makeout. Whatever it is you kids do these days." I thought I was embarrassed when my brothers would say stuff like that. My aunt knows exactly what to say to turn me red. I let go of the door and tried to help her, but she shooed me away. In the meantime, Sebastian had allowed himself entry to my aunt's home.
"Won't you come in, Officer Moorrisson?" I was being sarcastic.
"Thank you. You can call me Sebastian. I'm not on duty." He didn't catch on or maybe he did and doesn't care.
"Follow me." I led him into the living room. It was the safest room in the house. I stopped and turned around. I hadn't realized how closely Sebastian was following me. Bumping into his chest was like hitting a brick wall. He was solid.
"I'm sorry. I didn't know how close you were." He made me so nervous and I can't put my finger on the reason why.
"No worries."
"I don't want to ruin your relationship." I blurted it out because it was weighing on my mind. I know I'd hate the woman that came in and took my man out from under me.
"The girl who answered my phone isn't my girlfriend. She's my roommate, her name is Sophia, and occasionally I would have s*x with her."
"I see. You were just using her to get your kicks?"
"It was mutual. We were fck buddies. We would borrow each other until the time came when we met our mates."
"Okay."
"Are you not happy you have found your mate?"
"I stalked your f*******:. I wanted to know more about you before I talked to you. I saw the picture of you and the girl kissing. Happy belated birthday."
"Thank you. How about we sit down unless you like using my chest as a microphone? I can hear you just fine, you know." I wasn't paying attention to the placement of my head. I just didn't want to look into his eyes as he told me the things he did.
"Goddess, I'm sorry. We should sit. Would you like a drink?" He made me nervous. It's not the same type of nervousness as when your crush wants to talk to you or even the usual first kiss nervousness. I can't find the words.
"No, I'm good. Thank you though." I still couldn't look at him. His index finger and thumb took hold of my chin. With some coaxing, I lifted my face to look at him. Without knowing my feelings, how could we start something together? It saddened me.
"Are you sure I can't get you anything?" I was trying to do everything to get me out of our tension-filled meeting.
"I don't know your name. We can start with that."
"Freedom Americas Abraham." He laughed at my name. I didn't know what to say. It's not like he was the first to find my name funny.
"You're not joking?"
"No. Do you think you could let go of my chin?"
"Are you going to turn away from me again?" His smile was genial.
"No. I promise." He released my chin.
"How old are you?"
"I'm twenty-one. We are nine years apart."
"Does that bother you?" I didn't answer him because I didn't know. Here I was becoming flustered because this man wanted me to give answers to questions I hadn't figured out yet.
He was quick in placing his lips on mine before I could look down again. There was the spark I should've felt when we met earlier today. I closed my eyes and let myself enjoy his lips as they danced the tango with mine. Jillette was bouncing around wanting to be connected with Sebastian's wolf. His lips tasted like cherries. I assumed he was wearing some type of lip moisturizer. I say that because he has very soft lips. It's safe to say he is a good kisser. The other two guys I've kissed slobbered all over me. It was disgusting. Sebastian knew when to swallow. I grabbed his shirt and pulled him to me. I opened up and his tongue slid into my mouth, mingling with mine. His hand rested on the side of my head and the urgency that I was feeling slowed. Our pace was now slow and timed with each other. It was the best kiss I've ever had. It was time to pull away.
"My aunt was right. Things are completely different with your mate." He left tingles behind and that has never before happened to me.
"It is supposed to be unlike anything one has ever felt before." He moved even closer to me and that's when I panicked.
"We can't have s*x tonight." He was quick to pull away and it was much appreciated, but I also jumped up and off the couch. I was confused by these new emotions running through me after just one kiss.
"Who said we had to do that?" He sat back and took me in.
"I'm just saying. You can do that with Sophia, right?" What in the fcking world was I thinking to suggest he could go home and screw another female?
"I'm not going to do that to you. Are you a virgin? Is that why you seem afraid of me?" Me a virgin? Nope.
"What? No. No, I'm not a virgin."
"In a way, I'm relieved." What guy is relieved to find out a female he's talking to has already been taken care of?
"Why is that?"
"I don't know how a man could look forward to causing pain for a woman. Most guys have that on their bucket list. You know, the popping of a female's cherry. I never wanted to do that. I think it would turn me off. I don't know if I'd be able to get aroused with that female again."
"That's new. The guys I've met want nothing but virgins to deflower."
"I do my best to treat a female the way they should be treated."
"Mates usually jump into bed with each other right away, don't they?"
"I could court you. I don't want us to be all about s*x."
"That's a little old-fashioned."
"I'm an oldie but a goodie. I want to get to know you. Become friends. I want it all with my mate."
"Do you want to stay and finish the movie with me?"
"What are you watching?"
"Top Gun."
"One of my favorite movies. Do you mind if we watch it from the beginning?"
"Sure, that's not a problem."
He took my hand and guided me back to the couch. He pushed himself closer to me and placed his arm behind me on the couch. I felt his eyes as they watched every move I made. Having this much attention from a man is all new for me. Guys usually want one thing and they will show interest until they get it and then they are gone. I sat back with the remote and leaned my back against the side of him and placed my head on his shoulder. He wasn't forcing me to do anything. His hands weren't going to inappropriate places. Just being with him, feeling at ease, I couldn't ask for anything more at that point. I don't know what came over me. Scratch that. Jillette came over me, making me think I wanted more than what I was ready for. She egged me on and before I knew it, I was straddling him, not knowing where to go from there.
I felt his fingers dig into my hips. I'm sure he was thinking about being deep inside of me. Fck, I was thinking about it. I just freaked and told him we couldn't have s*x and yet here I am wanting to connect with the man that is my mate. My lips dove onto his before I changed my mind. My hands felt him up all over his chest over his shirt. This man was tight. I could feel his bulge between my legs and that made me happy. Wanting him to know what I felt caused me to grind myself on him. It was hot as he tried his best to stop what was happening. His hand on the back of my head, his other digging into my hip. I wanted his shirt off, but it was tucked in and giving me a hard time. When you're in sync, things have a way of being said without words. That was happening as he lifted himself up with me on top as I untucked the fabric between us. My hands finally touching his bare skin sent quivers through him.
"Freedom, this isn't what you want."
"It is."
"It's just the ritual of the mate bond wanting to be fulfilled. You're not ready, you've voiced that already. As much as I would love to, I'm not going to let you change your mind."
"Did I do something that turned you off?"
"Does this feel like you've turned me off?" He pulled me down and lifted himself and I felt more of his manhood than before. I wondered where he was hiding it.
"It's been a while for me."
"How long is a while?"
"Almost two years. How about you?"
"Six months."
"Do you want to make me happy?" I was using the mate bond to try and get laid.
"Of course I do."
"Come to my room and make love to me."
"We should wait. I'll come back tomorrow." He removed me from his lap and stood up. He was trying to be polite and not adjust his junk in my face, but that's how we were. Face to junk. He was putting his shirt on when I had a thought. If I began rubbing him, he would change his mind and stay with me.
"I have work in the morning. It's best that I go. Walk me out?"
"Sebstian, stay with me." I said this as I was following him to the door.
I was startled when Sebastian threw me against the wall and pinned both my hands over my head with one of his. He is one strong wolf. I didn't fight against being restrained. I didn't want him thinking I was afraid to be intimate with him. My breathing was heavy because I'd never been handled this way. It was a turn on, knowing a man wanted me as much as he did. I knew he was showing restraint in making me his. With his body pressed firmly against mine, he looked deep into my eyes, searching for secrets I hid within. Sebastian's free hand searched my body. His face was buried in my neck next. I felt his mouth open, his teeth scrapping against my skin. He was going to mark me. At least I thought he was going to. Instead, he sucked on my neck, no doubt leaving a hickey behind. Just as I was thinking this, the pinch of his teeth into my flesh was unexpected.
"AHHHH." I began to move underneath him. I want to be marked and owned by my mate, but here and now wasn't the time for something like that to occur. "Why are you stopping?" Not that I wanted it right now. I was curious to know what caused him to change his mind.
"I'm a cop. What I have just done to you was assault."
"I don't have any complaints."
"It was still wrong. I have to go. I'll call you tomorrow." Just like that, I was released and it was his turn to flee from me.
