Chapter 5

(FIVE YEARS AGO)   Jinri crashed down on the forest ground holding onto the unconscious body of Seraphim. He pulled him onto his lap and hugged him tightly. He looked at his face and caressed it. He ripped one of his white satin lace straps from his tunic coat and dipped it into the warm water of the waterfalls next to them   “Sera… I’m sorry for what I did… But it’s better this way. You can’t die just because you want to protect me,” Jinri pressed the wet lace cloth on the king’s cheeks, removing the traces of blood on it.   “I will take care of everything, so when you wake up it’ll be a brand-new world for both of us and for the humans. And then, I will go to live with you and be with you for the rest of our eternity,” Jinri kissed Seraphim’s forehead and hugged him again.   Jinri looked up when he heard the crying of sorrow and pain from the humans. He looked down again at Seraphim’s face.   Jinri cut his wrist open and pressed it in Seraphim’s lips. He felt the king’s mouth move a little but he was too weak to drink. Jinri sucked the blood from his wrist and kissed Seraphim to let the blood flow through his mouth. He once again could hear his lover’s heart beating quietly.   “Being a demon draws too much energy from your heart. And me being a light fairy does too. We are such a beautiful mess, love.” He smiled and caressed Seraphim’s face.   Jinri looked up once more when he heard more echoing cries of humans from the city. He knew he had to do something about it. And only he can help them.   Jinri leaned closer to Seraphim and whispered something in his ear, only the wind could hear. Jinri smiled and planted another sweet kiss on his mate’s cheek.   Jinri heard his mate’s heart race and he understood that Seraphim heard what he said. He kissed him passionately and held him tighter. Jinri’s white light enveloped Seraphim to heal his wounds and complete the binding of his demon soul inside him. White satin lace straps wrapped carefully around the king’s body. Flowers grew around the grass as Jinri laid Seraphim down on the forest ground.   “No more darkness, my love…” Jinri stood up and glanced once more at his sleeping mate.   Before the light fairy left, he turned to the sacred waterfalls, “Keep him safe while I’m away. I’ll be back soon and take him home with me.”   A young water nymph emerged from the waterfall, “I will do everything I can, my lord.”   Jinri transformed once more into a light fairy and flew back to the city. * The memory cloud became empty. Seraphim turned to Gale, “where is the rest? What else happened?”   Gale breathes heavily, “it takes a lot of my strength to go back to the past, my lord. Forgive me.”   “Alright. Proceed when you already can.” Seraphim stood patiently as the wind fairy recovered.   Gale summoned a bigger memory cloud with stronger gust of wind, “your majesty, whatever you see in this memory, is the task he asked to do. This part of his memory is something that I needed you to see.”   Seraphim stared at Gale, “go on.”   Seraphim watched as another part of Gale’s wind memory played.   Jinri ascended higher in the clouds until he reached the sun’s light. He smiled.   “To fos tou paradeísou…” he whispered.   The light starts to warm his body. He gathered all his energy towards the crystal gem. It wasn’t enough he had to pour every strength and power in him. Jinri knew this could lead him to his death but he knew Seraphim could revive him with his blood once he turned him into a vampire. He just had to get back to him once everything was done. He smiled imagining Seraphim smile at him once more. “Katharíste aftón ton kósmo tou skótous.” His final enchantment spread light to the entire city healing everything the light could touch. But Jinri was not expecting what happened next. The crystal gem starts to absorb everything from him. Everything in his mind rewinds quickly, obliterating one by one of his memory. He stared at the gem and it was quickly turning into a black crystal. He darted his eyes on the dark forest as it completely healed. He found Seraphim’s heart and it was beating as strong as he wanted it to be, he didn’t mind the rest of it until memories flashed before his eyes. Things that will take place in the future or perhaps are already taking place. “Future?” he whispered. He found one thing that he didn’t expect. Black eyes staring at him. “No… No…” The demon flew towards him as if he saw him. His huge hands burst out of the crystal grabbing his neck. “No…” the demon tried to pull him into the crystal. He grabbed the demon’s hand and kept spreading his light on the dark forest and the rest of the city to heal. But it wasn’t enough. “Light fairy...” The demon licked its lips from the excitement of seeing him while he spoke in a growling voice. Jinri got pulled more into the crystal. /Seraphim… / he called for his mate. Jinri had no choice but to stop the spread of light by grabbing the hand of the demon from the crystal. He struggled as little by little the demon from the future was pulling him towards itself. Half of his body was already out of the crystal. “Who… are you?” Jinri choked. “I am… your future…” The demon spoke as his eyes turned luminous red. Jinri got pulled into the demon’s arms and it pressed its mouth on his lips. He pressed his hand on the demon’s eyes, and pulled away “aktina fotos!” The demon yelled in agony and immediately let go of Jinri to cover his eyes with his hands. “You are nothing but an image from the future. You will not be born in this world!" He stared at Jinri once more through his fingers and spoke of words giving Jinri the shiver of fear. “To aíma sou ... Eínai dikó mou” the demon smirked at him. Jinri backed away and turned his hand on his crystal, “you will not have a single drop of my blood, beast!” The demon roared and flew towards him again. But he was able to act quick enough to seal the crystal. “Sfragída tou ouranoú!” the spell backfired towards him hitting him right in the heart. Blood immediately came out of his mouth. Jinri lost his power and felt himself fall down from the sky. He saw the crystal turned back into its original form and it immediately followed him. He tried to reach for it with his hand to protect it. If the crystal has a demon trap in it, he has to make sure it does not get out. “Come to me, my light…” he reached out for it and it immediately embedded itself in his chest making him cry out in pain. He thought of the demon, he didn’t know anything about it. He needs Seraphim now, more than ever. He felt his consciousness slowly take over him. He needs to hide the crystal from the danger he knows is about to come, until the vampire king is well enough to destroy the demon within it. He could hear his rapid breathing and the wind on his ears was loud, he was falling from the sky. In his human form he would die the moment his body reaches the ground. “Gale…” he whispered to the wind. The wind blew and he slowly stopped falling; The wind started to hold onto him. And it caressed his cheek and whispered, “my lord…” The wind wrapped its arms around him, hugging him tight as if protecting him. “In due time, you must find Seraphim for me…” Jinri whispered. “Give him my message…” Jinri said as he was laid down by the wind on the forest ground gently. Jinri once more whispered to the wind, “Seraphim, my love… Vreíte ti mními mou…”   He smiled and saw Seraphim in his eyes, “I’ll see you soon, my love… Come and find me…”   Jinri used his last power and broke the crystal into pieces. He threw them towards the sky and it scattered through the wind.   “Hide my light and leave now, Gale.”   The wind took off immediately. Jinri stared into the sky. Sealing the crystal with the demon inside took away almost everything from him. He didn’t think of it, if it wasn’t for the blood of Seraphim, he would have died already. He believes that Seraphim would wake up again and will look for him.   He was his only hope, “I miss you, my love…”   He coughed out blood and was slowly losing his consciousness. He turned his head to the direction of a voice calling him. He saw someone running towards him. But his eyes were blurry, his human body was giving up.   He took a deep breath and closed his eyes.   Gale suddenly fell down and all the memory cloud dissipated. Seraphim caught her by his arms before she fell on the floor. He looked at the wind fairy and looked at Seth.   “The crystal that was given to Aerwyna and had been handed to Jinri has a demon inside it. That’s what Jinri is protecting. He has to take his memory away so no one would know about it.”   Seth took the light fairy from Seraphim and they all teleported in Seraphim’s chamber. Seth laid the fairy down to his bed.   “So, Jinri broke the crystal that caused him to lose his memory? But why didn’t he just come to us so we could help him protect his crystal?” Saga asked.   “No, there is something else. Something that Gale didn’t see that’s why she didn’t have a memory of it,” Seraphim said.   “Someone else was there. Someone else knew what Jinri was trying to do.”
