Chapter Seven It was the dead of night as Casia slipped into the castle hallway. Such furtive moves seemed required considering her mission. She would only speak of the scheme with Lorio in the quiet and hushed words of midnight, never in broad daylight. Then, for sure, Lorio would understand how vital this plot was to her survival. The young man had been a constant suitor, one that put her on a pedestal so high, Casia worried that this scheme might make her fall from it in his eyes. But she would ply him with the truth as much as lies. Her marriage to Nor depended on the boy’s compliance. A boy. She thought of him as a boy and yet he was just a year younger than she was. Still, he seemed so naïve. Perhaps she could interest him in Jessamyn. They would make a handsome pair—if Nor tired
