COLLINS
I'm just arriving in the Pack House and I sincerely can't believe that all these girls are here because of me.
This event has been held twice and this being the third time, I expected them to be less than last time. I mean, who would want to attend a ceremony where the host has not found his mate even after doing this twice?
However, deep down, I feel honoured to have all these damsels from honourable homes coming only to try their chance with me and that makes me even more proud!
After stepping out of the car, I adjust my white coat and lead the way towards the main house. I'm keeping a straight face as I walk ahead, not even making an effort to either wave at the screaming girls or even keep an eye contact. I was over this last year and I don't know why my parents like embarrassing me this much!
What if I don't meet my so called Mate? What if she's not in this gathering? What if she's not yet born? They should just have left me to choose one girl from the many girls who like and drool over me and goddess knows I'd have chosen the best! Agrrr!
I've already reached the door to the main house and there I am met by Pack House maids, my parents, the Beta and his wife and other Pack leaders. I acknowledge the pack leaders and I go ahead to hug my mother who whispers into my ears asking me why I am so late. Smiling, I just get out of her hug and walk to dad and after hugging him, I walk to the stairs and head upstairs to my bedroom. Mum is shouting behind me telling me not to take long up there but I just walk on. I'll take as much time as I want, after all, I didn't organise this s**t they call a party!
As I walk to my room, I can't stop wondering where Derrick is since he assured me that he will be around by the moment I arrive. We spoke over the phone earlier today and he assured me that they were on their way coming back here.
Back in my bedroom, I show my bodyguards where to place my bags and I then dismiss them. After locking the door behind them, I walk to my bed and lower myself onto it. I look around and I sigh when I realise that everything is still in its place as I left it.
If I had a mate, I wouldn't be living here in the first place. Secondly, I can't move in to my big house and live there all alone! Oh no, I hope this search will be over sooner. I don't just understand why all werewolves need to be paired to someone as their mate instead of falling in love with a partner, dating them and finally getting married just like the humans. At least, that would be easier and it would save us a whole lot of time.
After calling Derrick so as to know where he is, I smile after he informs me that he has just arrived into the Pack House although he has to pass by his house which is only a few metres away from the main house. At least I'll have my best friend beside me all through the tedious and boring event so I won't have any reason to be bored.
With renewed energy, I rise from my bed and get rid of my suit. I then pick a towel and head to the bathroom to run a cold bath. I just hope this day passes by quickly. I want to get done with it, and most probably this search once and for all.
Derrick knocks at my door a few minutes after I come from the bathroom. I am already dressing up therefore I usher him in. He frowns when he notices that I am just buttoning my shirt and after giving me that brotherly hug, he lowers himself on the couch.
“You have taken your time to look good huh!” he observes. “I can see that you want to impress your mate immediately you meet her!” he teased me.
Sighing I turn to face him. “Ah bro, I wish that was the case!” I say to him. “I am already tired of all these celebrations and I can't wait to get done with it. Why is my so called Mate taking so long to show up at my door step?” I sigh. “You are so lucky that you already have your mate beside you!”
“Don't worry bro, luck might be on your side today. I have a feeling that you're almost coming to the end of your search!” he assures me and I just smile.
“So, how is Grace and the bun in the oven?” I ask him and he smiles. Of course, his mate is a few months pregnant.
“Grace is fine. She's just tired and all but all in all, she's doing great.”
“I can't wait to meet mine, that way, Grace will have a friend.”
“That's for sure Collins. Just hurry up and let's get going. Your mate is out there and probably tired of waiting!”
“I bet grace has gone to join them as well.” I say absentmindedly.
“Not yet. She's in the house catching up with my cousin Samantha who arrived in the Pack a few days ago.”
“Samantha?” I ask in surprise and he nods. “You mean Gary's sister, the same girl whose parents were the late Alpha and Luna of the Blue Moon Pack?”
“Yes, the same ten year old girl you used to ignore whenever she visited. She's now an adult and breathtakingly beautiful!” he explains while smirking evilly. Does he have to remind me about my actions when I was only twelve and stupid?
“Wow, that's great. Does she have a mate already?”
“Not yet, she's also all dressed up for the event and she hopes to meet her mate here as well.”
“Well, that's good news and I wish her all the best in her search.” I say sincerely as I apply some cologne on my under arms. I had already forgotten about Samantha after failing to meet her for years. Her aunt had told me that she was busy slaving away in the Red Moon Pack while serving the very same people who murdered her parents. Poor her!
A few minutes later, we head downstairs and then exit the main house as we head to the hall. I just want to get done with this and concentrate on other important stuff.
