Chapter 7 Human Ryan

1604 Words
Aerilyn's POV "Blaze, I am not twenty one and neither are you." I seethe as he drags me towards the entrance of the nightclub. Does he even understand that places like this require ID and that you need to be 21 or older to come. Besides, the book says that bars are expensive and I don't have the money to pay for that right now. His large frame stops and he turns, grabbing me by the shoulders, "If you just relax, this night will be the best you'll ever have." The intensity I feel on my chest while he stares down at me is frightening because I've never felt more scared to trust someone. I never thought I would try and trust Blaze Sinclair. My shoulders raise as I inhale deeply, and instead of putting my trust in him, I put it in myself. I nod, and he stares at me, his eyes bouncing between mine as if trying to figure out if he could trust me. It's sort of ridiculous, because he abducted me and forced me to tag along. "Just relax," he grins, turning on his heel and does the one thing I never thought he'd ever do. He puts his arm around me. Walking into the club, the loud music is drowned out by the feeling of his hand on the small of my back, extremely close to my ass. I'm very aware of him as we stride over to the bar, but not without a few stops of people greeting him. People I've never met, and they are human. I glance up at him, and his hand never leaves my back as he greets some of his friends. Obviously, Blaze is a regular here. We end up in front of the bar, "Whiskey on the rocks," he orders as the bartender attends to us. He looks down at me, "What will you have?" "Coke," I deadpan, and his eyes widen. "Don't be such a wuss, my treat." he snorts, looking kind of angry. "I don't drink," I deadpan, but his darkening eyes doesn't seem to be able to leave mine. I'm not incapable of drinking alcohol. Werewolves have a better ability to metabolize alcohol, at least compared to humans. But tomorrow is the graduation ceremony, and I have to give a speech on behalf of the students on stage. Getting drunk is not a good choice. Plus, there's no one here I can trust... He rolls his eyes and turns his head , "And a coke." The bartender had only just put our drink orders on the bar, a blonde comes striding over to us. She doesn't hesitate to wrap her arm around his like a snake, curling around his large bicep. Blaze turns his head, his lips twitching up into a sly grin as he stares at her. I'm baffled as she raises onto her toes, kissing him, with tongue and I avert my gaze to the bartender. "Save me a dance," she flirts, and I notice how she drags her hand across his chest from the side of my eye. I scoff when she strolls off, and a giggle erupts from my throat. "What?" Blaze cold, chipped voice makes me stop, and I turn my head in the direction the girl walked off to. "You just like a whore." I deadpan, but he isn't pleased with my remark. He snatches his drink off the counter and says without a care in the world, "You don't even qualify to be a whore." He strides off, leaving me at the bar. He really gave me a "good" night! He drags me all the way out here, for what? To torture me? He leaves me at the bar, going off with another girls as he abandons me in a unfamiliar place. The only choice I have is to take a seat at the end of the bar. I keep my toes tilted up and my heels down to keep them from slipping and eventually cross my one leg over the other, sipping on my coke as I stare at the dance floor through the mirror behind the stacked bottles behind the bar counter. He lets that girl grind against his front, I watch as his hands roam her body and a chill runs down my spine. Is this the look he usually uses to lure those girls into bed with him? My brows furrowed uncontrollably at the thought... Does a guy like him have any heart at all? "Go! Suddenly, the sound of calling from a card table not far away drew me in, and I swiveled my chair to look over. It was a group of men surrounding a sexy dressed girl, who was holding a whole bottle of whiskey in her hand, and in the next moment, urged on by the crowd, she raised her head and poured it down without hesitation. "Wow, she can really drink!" I couldn't help but exclaim. "She's working." A deep voice makes me turn my head, and beside me leans a tall man, his sparkling eyes makes me smile, he's extremely handsome with his sharp jaw, high cheek bones and thick brows. His lips are full, and his eyes a light brown with a hint of green, or it could be the lights flickering around that's reflecting in his eyes. "Work?" I squinted as I spoke. "Yeah, you see, after she finishes drinking, those men will rush to give her money." He leaned his elbow on the counter, ankles crossed. Following his gaze, I saw indeed, those men were pulling out cash and stuffing it into the girl's clothes, and a few even placed their expensive watches on her wrist. That's how she made more money than many do in a year. Without shifting my gaze, I picked up the coke by my side, took a sip, and muttered again, "Too hard." The man chuckled and asked, "And you? What are you doing here alone?" He was trying to strike up a conversation with me, and immediately I understood his intentions. "I'm waiting for a friend," I lie. "A friend?" his eyebrows raise. "Yes," "Guy or girl?" "Why does that matter?" I snort, shaking my head. It's unbelievable that he is hitting on me. "Because if it's a girl, I'd ask if I could sit here and wait with you, but if it's a guy...I wouldn't want to sit here when he arrives." he laughs, and it's not a normal laugh, it's infectious, making me laugh too. It might be nice to talk to him, at least you don't have to be bored and fuming like this. "I guess you can sit then," I beam while our laughter dials down and he pulls out the chair, sitting down. "I'm Ryan, nice to meet you," he introduced himself with a warm smile. "I'm Aerilyn." I raised the coke in my hand as a gesture of acknowledgment. Ryan, like me, had just graduated from high school and was about to enter college. Unlike the typical guys trying to hook up for a one-night stand, he didn't attempt any flirtatious remarks. Instead, he kept introducing me to his ideals, telling some interesting stories, and inviting me to see the photos he took while traveling. As I admired the beautiful landscapes on his phone, I got entranced. "The sea is so beautiful." Seeing my appreciation for his photography, he got even more excited, tapping my hand with his phone and widening his eyes, "Tell me your social media account! I post often, it's great if someone likes it!" Excitedly, I nodded. This was certainly good for me. I hadn't planned to give up on my studies. I had already prepaid six months' rent for the apartment near the school. I planned to apply for a loan to complete my college education. Having human friends before that was undoubtedly the best. I took out my phone, and we exchanged social media accounts. It was noisy in the bar, so we had to get close, our heads almost touching. "Alright, we—" I was cut off as a gust of wind blew from behind me. Bang! "Ah!!" People around me screamed. Before I could even process what was happening, I saw Ryan being punched and sent flying, crashing heavily onto the ground. I turn, looking at the guilty party, but it's just like any other day as I stare into those familiar, hateful steel blue eyes. "What did you do?" I yell at Blaze while he holds his knuckles. He inches closer, "What the fu*k are you doing?" his gritted words make me turn, and white hot rage pulses through me. Snap! I slap him through the face, "What does it matter to you!" But he doesn't react and rolls his eyes, grabbing my arm and he yanks me off the chair. "Stop it," I tried to pull away. I glanced towards Ryan, wanting to confirm his safety. He was just a human; how could he withstand an attack from a Alpha? How could he attack a defenseless human for no reason?! Most humans didn't even know of our existence. What if we were discovered?! He was the Alpha's son; he wouldn't be punished, but what about me?! Blaze's grip tightened, and I struggled to break free, shouting towards Ryan, "Are you okay, Ryan?" But before I could wait for Ryan's response, Blaze roared, "Come with me!" He forcefully pulled me in, wrapping his arms around my waist to restrain me, and without a word, hoisted me up, exiting the bar. Only Ryan's cries echoed behind us, "Aerilyn!"
