He stood tall, dark, shaded, tanner than ever. His sleek, muscular, daunted and handsome figure; described his existence.
He was the Mayor.
He ran the town... It's charges and it's matters. His people loved him as well. He was the best in their interest. He was loyal and honest for them. He had been trained for this day since he was seven and he finally stood proud achieving his position.
He had been through a lot. The torture and torments his grandfather made him suffer through, the hardships he had to cross down, the hurdles that stood his way as he graduated college and joined back his father in office and finally taking over two years ago, becoming the youngest mayor in the history of Cherwood.
Soon he was going to turn twenty five in nine months and he needed to get married, as the law of his town required him to do so to carry out his responsibilities.
He was plastered on every magazine around the world. He was influential, inspirational, powerful, seductive and a world class top rated eligible bachelor. He spent nights with women, who loved to be held down by him, screaming his name. He would hold nothing but an easy night out for his pleasure and never sleep back with the woman. He jumped up from one to another and had meaningless s*x with women.
To him women were nothing but a mere piece of s****l pleasure.
He was standing out looking through the window pane of his office, giving him a view of his town. The town his great grandfather built into something this big. The town his father ran for almost twenty years and made it into a never colliding beautiful corporate city. The city he now runs as a Mayor and swears an oath to always love work, prosper and protect.
A knock on the door made him turn his head as he called out his permissions for the person to come in.
He heard slow footsteps following in. A small cracked voice called out.
"Everyone's waiting for you Mr. Mayor.", His secretary Jean Russo called out in a low tone.
That's the effect he had on everyone.
Everyone not only respected him but people also feared him. His wrath. His justice was bigger than any law or rule ever made. His strength was stronger and beyond any limits and he knew how to use his powers. One of the reasons why he was extremely successful and intimidating.
He didn't let anyone stop him and he knew how to put an end to anyone who ever stands in his way to make his city prosper.
He nodded back to his assistant and started walking ahead out of his office, into the elevator.
The mayor's office stood in a fifty six floors high building that had the city hall in it. The two left for the city hall pressing fifteenth floor.
"Any specific details?", The Mayor asked Jean who was busy typing into his phone.
He immediately stood straight up collecting every detail inside his mind to present down more sequenced to the mayor.
"Everything is good to go. The rings are here and your father has the one you'll be giving to Ms. Paige and everyone else is also here. Even the Paige's.", Jean told him back in a synchronized manner like he'd been preparing for this throughout his life.
He simply nodded back and waited for the elevator doors to open.
Soon it opened revealing a huge crowd looking at him inside the elevator like everyone was waiting for him to show up and perhaps they were.
The cameras began flashing with everyone lining up to have a glance at his handsome might.
The women stood jealous and remorseful at how the handsome package won't be the one they'd be getting perhaps it was someone else far more petite and gorgeous that the mayor had chosen at his own hands to carry the title of his wife.
A strong pair of hands went around his shoulders making him look up at his father who stood wearing a black tuxedo looking down proudly at his son.
"Congratulations son.", He said and leaped him into a manly hug.
"Thanks dad.", He smiled giving out his fake one. Knowing that he wasn't even a bit effected with this event in his life perhaps he wasn't even interested in having a wife and wanted to get a hold of his title and office. That was the only thing that was making him get engaged.
"Where's mom?", He asked his father breaking the embrace.
"She's inside one the rooms, getting all emotional.", His father, his predecessor told him.
He rolled his eyes at his father's words knowing what exactly made his mother cry.
He decided to go ahead and look for her because she was that important to him. He didn't want to do anything big or small in his life without his mother. She was the force that kept him driven to achieve his goals. Because he always knew the faith his parents had put inside him.
Before he could step any further a hand leaped in front of him making him stop his pace. He looked up at the source and it was his girlfriend, soon to be fiancé and future wife and the first lady of his city.
And she was none other than Elizabeth Paige. The girl he used to date when he was ten.
She was born and raised to be the wife of someone this big. She stood tall, sleek, her expressions screaming beauty with her perfect curves screaming seduction. The slit on her dress revealed a major portion of her thigh that she rubbed against his body.
She was daughter to a businessman who was the rival of the Mayhew family -- the family who ran the office of Cherwood.
But after realising that the Paiges can never beat the Mayhews they decided to settle in with rather a more convenient and subtle relationship of letting their own daughter marry the Mayor.
The mayor perhaps chose her as well, because she was petite, sleek, organized, ethical, well mannered and a high headed woman and he knew exactly how to control and show her place whenever she thought of herself as something bigger than him.
She kept her hands on his shoulders, seducing him towards her scent.
"It's our engagement you could've came earlier.", Elizabeth complained in a husky voice.
"If you have any problem regarding to my timings then it's your choice to walk out of this hall without wearing a ring from me. I have a town to run I can't leave that to attend an useless luncheon upon the exchange of some stupid rings. Now if you'll excuse I have to find my mother.", He bluntly said those words leaving behind a quiet Elizabeth.
She always thought she had him smitten around her finger with every move she threw his way, with every night she pleasured him in his bed but little did she knew that he was the guy who had zero feelings inside his heart. He was a human operating machine, void of any feelings.
He went inside a room that had a simple interior. With white exquisite couches placed down at distances and mirrors hanging down with tables and ornaments placed in different corners.
"I knew I'd find you relaxing here. Don't you have an engagement to attend to?", He asked once inside the room making sure no one else was around.
She sat still with her back stiffed and towards him. He walked towards her, bending down on his knees only to meet her face.
Her eyes were red and puffy with excessive crying. She wasn't sorrowed on his engagement but rather she knew what an emotional robot her son had turned into.
Inside her hands she held out a case that had a diamond necklace placed inside it.
"I won't be giving it to you today. I wanted you to give it to someone that you wanted to spend your life with. Not someone you're choosing to sit besides you and look appropriate for this position.", She told him with a stern accent.
"It's totally fine. Even I want you to keep it with yourself. Besides it always belonged to you.", He said through his thick reassuring professional accent.
He was trying his best to maintain a posture that would give off the essence of his good side that he was okay with everything.
He got up also picking his mother to her feet making her place down the necklace.
"We need to go and get done with the ceremony.", He placed his arm around her shoulder and started walking down towards the door.
She made him stop his pace as she placed a hand in front of him.
"Don't do this Brandon.", She pleaded him for the nth time. "At least not this... This is an extremely important decision of your life don't mess this up. You will definitely find someone who will love you for your heart not your position and power and you'll love her equally back for her heart despite of no matter whoever she is."
He heaved a sigh giving out his handsome smile towards his mother, "I really love my job and I need to marry someone who's capable of carrying the title of my wife. So you see I am doing this for love.", He winked in a mischievous manner towards his mother driving her outside the room.
While walking towards the center of the room before exchanging the rings he thought and laughed at his mother's words.
Love --- huh... That's something he lost his believe in years ago. When the only girl he actually ever loved left him, because she was too afraid to face a relationship. She was weak and coward and she made him realise that love is the single most stupidest feeling, void of any mental and rational thinking. He was glad she wasn't in his life anymore. In fact she was the single most hated person to him. She made him understand what every woman actually wants.
They're just influenced by power and physical features. No one actually really loves anyone, they just learn to compromise and spend their lives with them. Just like his parents. How his mother had to marry his father because of her parents who forced her to and she gradually learnt and compromised to live as the Mayor's wife.
But perhaps Elizabeth was more happy marrying him. She always wanted this position and she was finally getting it.
Her family wanted to tie good terms with the ruling family of the city and perhaps so did her brother, the former athlete and now a businessman was letting his sister marry the person he hates the most.
The Mayor stood out confidently with every eye on the room, gawking him, women already striping him in their minds.
Elizabeth stood tall and smart, flashing off her long leg, giving Brandon lustful looks so he'll be attracted towards her.
As his father passed him down the ring, he didn't even bother to look at it. Elizabeth placed her hand up front for him to place down the ring in her finger. But before he could place the ring, a hand grabbed down his shoulder.
He turned around to see a huffing Jean, standing with a pale color plastered all over his face.
"Sir... Can I...", He spoke through breaths and pauses. "Can... I speak to you? Your.... Lawyer he just... He just called and...", The entire crowd was whispering through words and tones at the scene that was going around.
Brandon hated when someone interrupted him mid way and put up an unprofessional show behaving like kids.
"What is it? Can't it wait?", He said back sternly through gritted teeth.
"No sir.", A much composed Jean now spoke, "It's really important and... And you can't get engaged like this.", He pointed at the ring with his eyes.
"What do you mean? Who the hell are you to say that?", Brandon said through gritted teeth and clenched jaws, exhibiting a small fraction of his anger.
"Sir please just come with me.", Jean offered Brandon trying to calm him down, "Mr. Mayhew you as well.", Jean suggested.
They started moving towards the elevator and soon they were joined in by Mr. Paige... Elizabeth's father. Who accompanied them but Jean stopped him before entering the elevator.
"Sorry sir... But it's confidential.", He announced before leaving the entire crowd hanging down a cliffhanger.
"What the hell was that?", Brandon yelled as soon as the elevator doors closed.
"Sir please... You'll understand everything once you meet your lawyer."
**************
"What the f**k is this?", Brandon yelled throwing down the papers he just read moments ago, still infuriated with disbelief at what he just read.
"I... I don't get this... Why is this coming out now? And how come I never knew of this? I don't think anyone else does as well.", Joe Mayhew asked in complete shock and disbelief.
"The council hall just sent in these... Luckily no one except the chamber head knows of this. Although he's adamant at keeping it disclose only for the sake of this city. But he also can't break rules. He needs you to follow the protocol.", Brandon's lawyer Lex spoke up who was not just his lawyer but also his friend and he really knew how to handle things with him.
Brandon took off his tie throwing it away with anger.
"Dad!", He called out grabbing his father's attention and everyone else's as well, "Call the O'Neils... it's about time we close in the final deal with them!"
