I tapped my feet as I stood nervously knocking on the door.
My internal instincts were screaming with a turmoil of feelings.
I was excited that I'll meet my best friend after such a long time. I hope he did read my letter that I left for him. I was nervous that how he might react, I was anxious to know about him and Felicity and how things were going with everyone else. I have was hyper to even see Lex and his reaction.
I had already ringed the bell three times and my excitement was getting higher within my veins my every passing second.
Soon the door opened revealing a short woman, who had her sides bulged out of her white uniform that had an apron over the white long skirt she wore.
"Yes? How may I help you?", She asked in a sweet Latin tone.
"Umm... This is Mr. Mathew's house right? Is he in here?", I asked her still confused at what could be the possible potential reaction once he'll see me.
"Yes of course... You can come inside. And you are?", She asked guiding me inside the house.
"I'm Amy Cole. I'm an old friend.", I told her smiling as she asked me to sit on the couch inside the exquisite lounge room.
I was impressed at what Connor was able to build for himself.
His house was huge and relinquishing.
The anterior was pure white and black exhibiting power and finance out into the design.
Connor was able to build a house at the Beach Housing Society, which yet alone was the center of diverging wealth and class in Cherwood.
On one of the walls different frames hung down I looked at the pictures and saw Connor!
I instantly recognised him.
In that picture he wore a black suit standing tall, with sleeked hair and mannered posture. He stood between three gentleman. I went ahead and took a clear view of the picture.
He had grown to become more classy and handsome. He gave out a small smile for the camera and I realised that he missed his dominant cool vibe.
I looked at other photo frames to find any sign of a wedding photograph or any picture with Fel, but I was rather confused as I found none but rather a picture of small kid.
He was a toddler his pictures hung down statically. Most of the pictures were of the kid, as he played, ran, cut a cake. In some of the pictures he laughed and stood with Connor. He must be around five or six years of age.
Who was that kid?
"Amy?", A familiar voice called out making me turn around and look at a much more gentleman standing wearing a white button down followed by a lose trousers. He had beard grown around his face as he stood looking at me with bewilderment.
I immediately walked towards him and leaped into a tight hug as he hugged me back.
Even though we didn't end up well back then, but getting to see him this up close after this long was a warming sensation to me.
I broke our embrace and stood gawking him as he equally returned my look.
"What? What are you doing here?" He asked taking seat, gesturing me to sit down.
I smiled at him and took a seat.
"Dad... He called me and I came to visit. How have you been?", I asked him still not knowing how to begin.
"I... I've been doing great.", He gestured at his surroundings, "Where were you? How have you been?", He asked taking my hand in his.
A feeling of warmness rushed inside me as I sat this close to my best friend.
"I was in Miami. Where's Fel?", I asked him without thinking about the consequences of his actions.
The photo frame back at Con's made me think that they were still together.
He perched his head down, "Fel and I... We're not together anymore.", He announced piercing my heart.
I always imagined them to be together. Their relationship was the epitome of forever.
I didn't want to ask any further questions about Fel as I could understand how heartfelt this topic might be for him.
"Where's Lex? And any intel on Laura and Kevin?", I asked him changing the topic.
"Lex is one of the top rated lawyers of Cherwood.", He top with a smile which reminded me of the letter I last wrote him.
"Laura and Kevin are well... They're planning on getting married.", He said through a smile. "And... Brandon's now the mayor of this city.", He said with a pierced look, "In fact... Lex is his lawyer.", He finished his words not waiting for my response.
Hearing his name brought gushing memories into my heart. He was the mayor now. Finally successful. I couldn't be more happy for him.
Of course he must have long forgotten me and it was about time for me to move on as well.
I guess a part of me already did. I just waited for the right time and opportunity and now was it.
Before Connor could say anything further a small kid, came in rushing towards Connor and immediately leaped into a tight hug as Connor lifted him.
The kid wore a small bag and had a young woman, probably a teenager wearing a polo shirt and jeans, standing behind the kid, depicting to be the nanny.
"How was you day?", Connor asked pecking the kid on the cheek.
I still like stood queered at who the kid actually was.
"It was nice. I had so much fun at the park. I beat Jason down when he tried to push me off the slide.", The kid said making both me and Connor laugh.
The two turned their attention towards me and I waved at kid a hello.
"Who's she?", He asked giving me a notorious look.
"She's your aunt Amy. Remember? I told you about?", Connor said looking at me with a smile.
We both knew there was a story pending about the entire situation.
"How're you?", He said as he got out of Connor's lap and offered me hand.
I bent down on my knees and leaped him into a hug. I pecked his cheek as I felt warmness gushing inside me with the innocence he had.
"What's your name?", I asked him.
"Spencer.", He replied confidently.
"Spencer why don't you go with Penny and let aunt Amy and dad have some time together?", Connor offered making me look at him with bewilderment.
Dad?? Did six years really changed a lot?
As soon as Spencer left Connor briefed me about the entire story with Spencer.
He was Dylan -- Connor's older brother's child. He and his girlfriend died in a car accident and Spencer was left to be taken by a foster family because of Connor's and his family's financial status. Connor couldn't afford to let his nephew stay at a foster home, so he decided to work hard and earn for himself and his nephew.
Fel got into Stanford and that was the point where they chose struggles over relationship. He told me that Fel was back in town but they didn't meet. Not even once and he doesn't hold any hard feelings for her.
I told Connor about my whereabouts and how life treated me.
After a heartfelt conversation I left for home and realised that I was an hour late for dinner.
As soon as I entered inside the house, I made my way towards the dinning room and saw dad, Margaret and Carol sitting at the chair, having dinner.
I immediately leaped into a hug with dad, reliving old days, where I always used to hug him at the table.
I went in to sit and sat besides dad right next to Carol and opposite to Margaret who didn't seem to bother enough about me and continued eating her food.
Even Carol passed me slightest hint of smile as she dug herself in her food.
Something seemed off here. They didn't seem to only ignore me but rather be intimated by something.
"I thought you would have your dinner with your friends.", Dad said making a conversation at the dead board table.
"Oh I just met Connor, you remember him? He own Carlos's, that's Con's now.", I told dad.
"Wait! You know the owner of Con's?", Carol's asked getting excited.
"Yeah... He's my highschool best friend.", I told her back and it felt having a conversation with her.
"I would love to meet him. He's so cute.", Carol said as she giggled.
Her laughter brought a soothing sensation to my heart.
"Amy.... Can I talk to you for a moment in my office?", Dad asked once we were finished with our dinner.
Margaret didn't wait enough for me to say anything and she sat quietly throughout the entire dinner. She left with Carol as soon as she finished her food.
I nodded in response to dad's words and made my way upstairs towards his office.
Once inside he offered me a seat at a couch placed near a book shelf and went ahead to pick some books out and came back with a file and some books.
He placed down the books right in front of me on the coffee table.
"These are the books that I find inspiration in.", He said through a smile.
I picked up the books and looked at them. They were books about the designs of the corporate world, while one was titled as "The Essence of a Peaceful Life."
"Among all these books, it's stated that family is really important. And today I would like to hand in these to you. Keep them they'll help you figure through hardships and struggles.", He said placing down those books in my lap. "I trust you with all my heart. I'm not going to force you to join in my office. You can do that whenever you want and for now...", He said as he placed a file in my lap, "This is your official summoning file. It states that you are a part of the O'Neil enterprises and any decision taken or summoned will have your supervision and consultation. No decision in this company shall hereby be taken without your concern.", He said looking at me.
My eyes shot up an inch with astonishment. I couldn't believe the trust and power he was putting up on me.
"Dad.... This is too much. I mean... My business is so small compared to yours. I only have restaurants and small local cafés to see. But this.... This is huge.", I made sure to make dad look through all the pages here.
"I know but I've seen you work. I've observed you. I know you're an extremely rational woman. I know where I'm putting my trust and I always invest in the right person.", He assured me with a smile. "Keep this file, study it overnight if you're not sure about the powers you'll be having. Just go through it and we can discuss if you want to.", He assured with a smile making me smile back.
Being home felt warm and nuance.
All these years I felt like I was holding onto things to make them fall into the right places but being home everything automatically falls into place. That's the essence of home.
I went to my room and went through the file that dad gave me and it was nothing but certain authorities and certain duties put onto me as a part of the entire regulatory affairs member.
I decided to take in the responsibility to lessen dad's burden.
The next morning I went directly into dad's office and I knew he would be there.
I hand in the file.
"I've signed it.", I told him as I smiled at him.
He smiled and suddenly a realization hit him as he pulled certain papers out.
"These also need to signed. For the city firm, you know.", Dad shrugged placing down the papers.
I took in a pen and signed them without giving them a look, because obviously they were the same thing. Besides what do you need to read when it comes to family.
As I was making my way out dad called my name, making me turn around.
"There's this party, at the city hall. I would like you to join me."
"When is it? I don't think I have a dress.", I laughed at the struggle of avoiding to go anywhere near the city hall because I knew what exactly would be there. More like who exactly.
"Don't worry about things like that... Just be there by seven.", He smiled again.
He was smiling more than usual but I didn't seem to bother much about that.
I made my way out and decided to explore the city a little.
I went out and visited the beach. The spots that I've missed the most.
I decided to pay a visit to Cherwood High. The nauseated place, where once I couldn't wait to get out of and today I went back just to get a glimpse of that place.
I went inside a paid a good visit to everyone.
Much to my surprise Mr. Ben was now in charge of student affairs and he was the most happiest to see me and so was I. Even Mr washer seemed to give me his notorious smile as he saw me.
After school I decided to pay a visit to Fel but unfortunately her address went invalid as her family shifted to Philadelphia and she was living at a new address that I couldn't get a hold on.
I looked at the time and it was four in the evening. I decided to make my way back to home and get ready for the function.
I didn't want to go because being the mayor, Brandon must be there. But it was about time I face it and see him.
I didn't even imagine the possible reaction he might exhibit but I hoped that everything would go smoothly.
On my way I received Grandma's call and I put in on the Bluetooth as I picked the call up.
"Seems like you've already forgotten me.", She complained as soon as I picked up my phone.
I laughed out at her like words, "It was your idea to send me all alone. I already told you to come with me.", I told her back.
"How's your old man behaving? Still the same?", She asked being unsure of dad's behaviour.
"Of course. What else would happen?", I told her back as I made a turn.
"Are there any hot boys in Cherwood?", Hazel asked through the other line. She must had came in to see Granny.
"Actually.... I have a very hot friend who's single, rich and a baby daddy.", I told her playing mischievous.
"Oh Bad.... She's still getting no dick.", Grandma spoke taking me off guard.
"Grandma!", I complained. "Okay guys I am in a rush right now. Hazel keep updating me with Grandma's condition. I need to go. Love ya both."
I hung up the phone and finally parked in my car.
I made my way towards my room and saw a large box placed on my bed with a note.
It read;
Wear this!
I bet it's Margaret. I could already sense the tension in the note.
I took a quick shower, blow dried my hair, put some light makeup on and decided to peak in on the dress.
When I pulled it out and my eyes shot up in surprise. It was an extremely gorgeous, glittery gown that had it's shoulders off and went to reveal a describable amount of cleavage and a slit, that ended at the upper thigh.
It seemed extremely fancy to be worn at a simple city hall function
It seemed extremely fancy to be worn at a simple city hall function. But I couldn't resist as I was trying to soother things out with Margaret and not wearing it would only intensify things between us.
I heaved a sigh and put the dress on and gave myself one final look before leaving for the function.
The chauffeur was waiting for me downstairs in the limo but I decided to drive my own self as I found passion in guiding my own self.
I drove my way towards the city hall and throughout the entire drive in kept on thinking what could possibly occur between me and Brandon if we did meet.
I guessed my stakes at the fact that he'd long forgotten me and would in fact smile as he'll see me do better. Just like he achieved his dreams of being the Mayor. I knew how hard he'd work for this position and he truly deserved it. In fact even everyone at school today talked and cherished Brandon that how he's making the entire Cherwood proud.
I stopped my car and threw in the key to the valet and made my way inside.

Third Person P.O.V
"She's here.", Jean announced to everyone who stood inside the mayor's office above the city hall, longing for the information.
"Go and keep an eye on her. Make sure she doesn't interact much with anyone.", Lex dismissed Jean, by ordering him to keep a trail on their target.
He immediately followed out on Lex's instructions.
"Brandon... Honey listen to me. You really don't need to do this. She doesn't even know what's going to happen tonight.", Monica begged Brandon for the nth time, trying to make him look through pages but he was adamant on what he had set his mind at.
He ignored his mother's plead and turned to face Cole, "If she creates a scene... You're done for life.", He warned him straightening out his coat.
"I know what I'm doing. Don't worry about her. She won't do anything today. And once this goes according to the plan. She won't dare to make any move in further future. You stay put and relax.", Cole assured Brandon as he turned to look at him.
"What makes you so sure?", Joseph stepped ahead challenging Cole.
"I have her neck in my hands. Don't worry about it.", He smirked remembering the dirty game he played.
He had played out a dirty plan and threw the mud on his daughter. Who was standing in the middle of the city hall at the moment, waving and smiling at everyone who looked up to her as the call she would be making tonight, according to them.
She had no idea about the dirty plans that were being mad just few floors above to where she stood.
In fact not just for tonight but a havoc for her life, was waiting for her
