ELENA'S POV
***At the clinic***
"The wolves were humans," I thought to myself, I guess I hit my head hard. "What's that smell? Cleaning supplies? No! No!! No!!! Please let me out" I screamed, the images coming back to me. It wasn't a dream, I saw humans turn into wolves. I could see the doctors and nurses running around. "Don't touch me", I screamed, "Please let me go".
I felt a presence beside me, it was the wolfman, gripping his shirt, he wrapped his hands around me. "It's okay angel" he muttered. I felt safe in his arms." No doctors please", I whimpered, " I hate hospitals", I told him, and with a nod, everyone left the hospital.
I stared at him, his eyes were a deep blue, like a calm ocean. They seemed to sparkle with intensity and they were framed by thick dark lashes. His features were strong and chiselled, with a sharp jawline and high cheekbones.
His hair was dark and looked like he had just rolled out of bed, his lips were full. He was without a doubt the most handsome man I'd seen. I couldn't help but admire his genes. Starting at him calmed the turmoil in my mind.
"It's just you and I now angel, Please breathe for me," he said, he tried leaving me on the bed, but I shook my head no, he seemed to understand me without me saying a word. "Wolfman," I said, he smiled at me, he wasn't as scary as the men in the forest. "Tell me, angel, what happened? He asked.
Xavier's Pov
She called me Wolfman, Rojo is ecstatic, and I like how she isn't scared of us. I don't know how I would have felt if she was afraid of me.
"Tell me what happened angel," I said to her. I needed to know what happened.
"I needed to clear my head and I took a walk into the woods. I lost track of time and stumbled into a group of men. I tried running from them but they chased me. The man said he'd eat me, and they laughed, they turned into wolves" she narrated. She looked into my eyes and said "Are you one of them wolfman? I felt hostility towards the thought they put into her mind.
" I'm nothing like them, angel. You are safe now", I assured her. A lot of thought was rushing through my head. How could the world be so cruel to an angel like her? I smiled, happy I left a rogue alive, he would regret ever scaring her.
I noticed she was feeling sleepy again. I stood up to leave. She needed her rest. Before I reached the door, I heard a sniffle, "Angel, why are you crying? I asked her, "Don't leave me please, I'm scared" she cried.
"Angel, no one is going to hurt you here" I tried to calm her down, but she was still resisting. With a sigh, I sat down on her bed as she clung to me like a koala bear. I mind-linked Beatrice, the pack housekeeper, to prepare a room for my angel.
She had me wrapped around her little finger. I smiled, I liked the control she had on me. I sent a quick text to Mira cancelling our date. I hope she understands.
2 hours later
"Xavier, her room is ready" Beatrice, mind-linked, "Thanks Bee, please tell everyone to not crowd the pack house, I don't want the crowd overwhelming her, I'll be bringing her in 20 minutes", I ordered. Looking down at the little one in my arms, I wished I could go into her mind and take away the horrible memories she had.
"Angel, wake up". I tried waking her up. I needed her to see where we were going to scare her. With a cute yawn and stretch, She finally opened her cute eyes, and her eyes lit up when she saw me. I chuckled at her cuteness. Her stomach rumbles, "Let's get some food in you angel, can you walk? With a headshake, I picked her up and walked towards the pack house. I made a mental note to show her around when she was better and up for it.
Lunch went by without any hitch, she had little appetite and I got to understand from the pack doctor about her malnourished self. I had to send Beaumont to get some vitamins and supplements for her from the pharmacy in the town.
Before we could leave the dining hall, it was lunch time and the pack warriors arrived, being boisterous as ever. I noticed as she froze, shifting closer to me. They were rowdy and they barely noticed her tiny frame. I could hear her heartbeat pick up, she was on the verge of having a panic attack. " Quiet down". I ordered through the mind link, gently picking her up, I took her out of the dining hall, making a mental note to find a quiet place where we'd be having our meal.
Mom was instantly drawn to her. She had always wanted a daughter. Apart from me, she seemed to be comfortable with Mom, but with Dad, she was still cautious around him. I would be too if I didn't know the kind of man he was. With his size and thundering voice. I understood her fear. Dad respected her and kept his distance. With a nod, Dad signalled me to the office.
When I was done narrating the story to him, Dad looked ready to explode. I'd never seen him this angry, and I had to mind-link Mom to come to calm him down. I guess Elena has us all wrapped around her fingers. Mom has already made plans to take her shopping. For a 14-year-old, she is quite tiny, but I'm sure with time she'll get better.
It's nighttime and after her night routine, I put her to bed. It's been a long day, "Good night Angel" I whispered, walking out of her room, not before she replied, "Good night wolfman". I smiled at her cute nickname. Mira was already in bed waiting for me. "Xavier," she said seductively. I knew that tone, she knew how to distract me, I welcomed her kisses, I needed to distract myself.
I heard tiny footsteps, I had to use my hands to cover Mira's mouth. I heard it again, with a sniffle this time, and I froze. "Don't stop" Mira whimpered, "I'll be right back. I need to check on Elena" I said, pulling on my sweatpants. Walking out of my room, Elena was sitting by my door, crying, "Angel". I called, and she clung to me, "They are here, wolfman, I can't sleep" she sniffled. "It is okay little one, it was just a nightmare, Let's get you to bed," I said, walking to her room, happy I made her room close to mine.
"I don't want to be alone, Wolfman, please stay with me" she mumbled, "I'm here angel, close your eyes, I promise I'll be here when you wake up," I said. In a few minutes, she was knocked out. I tried getting up, but she clung to me like a koala bear. With a tired sigh, I closed my eyes, her calm heartbeat luring me deep into slumber.
