Emma lay in bed watching the moon peer into the room. the sheer curtains didn't hold the light out and Emma watched as it danced on the floor. it had been a week since Dan moved back in with Mary and Kevin. she knew it was all part of the plan, but it was excruciating to see him around and not be able to feel him or talk to him. it's strange how she had grown accustomed to having him around. he made her feel safe. Xavier loved having his older cousin Connor come in and stick around him. they had all gotten into a routine and Connor had been taking Xavier to and from school. having him there all the time made her feel better. she wanted to make sure he was always safe and out of harm's way. nothing had happened since the last break in, but Emma couldn't help but feel danger in every corner. She was always on edge. she knew she needed sleep for work in the morning, but it was feeling impossible. since Dan had been gone, she wasn't sleeping much. everything ran through her mind. the wind blew through the window gently rustling the curtains. "ugh! I need sleep!" she groaned as she got out of bed looking through the window. off in the distance she thought she saw a shadow moving. she slipped away from the window out of sight to see if she saw the movement again.
she was so engrossed in what was happening through her window she didn't notice her bedroom door open. Connor was crawling over towards the window and reached out grabbing her down putting a hand over her mouth sniffling a scream. "shhhh," he had one finger to his lips. her eyes were widely looking at him fear on her face. " that's not one of our guys. stay down. do not go to Xavier's room. I already alerted the team and Kevin and Dan are going to try and follow the person to see where he leads us too." his voice was a low whisper as he spoke. Emma could feel the urgency in his voice. she shook her head as she sprawled her body flat onto the floors surface. she felt like she had been on the floor for an hour when Connor came back inside. he held his hand out to help her back up. "false alarm. turns out it was some kids making out. however, you should be proud of yourself for listening. "
she laughed hard snorting a little as she did. "I can't believe I just snorted! I wasn't sleeping much before and I am definitely not going to get there now. I'm going to head downstairs and get something to drink." she left the bedroom making her way down to her kitchen leaving Connor staring after her. she felt defeated. she wanted Dan back. she wanted her life back and she didn't want to live like this anymore.
she heard something rustling outside. she looked out the window startled. "my mind is going crazy when a tree branch makes you go crazy Emma." she said out loud. she made her way back to the coffee pot finishing it up so she could have something to do. "how did your life become such a mess?" she shook her head as she pushed start. a chill went up her spine. the window was open letting the wind blow through. " who opened this?" she shut the window. as she started to turn around she felt a hand wrap around her mouth and waste pulling her from her spot. then everything went dark.
her head was pounding. she had never felt pain like it before. the pounding was making it hard to open her eyes all the way the throbbing causing her head to spin out of control. there was a chill in the air. the room was cold and dark. slowly her eyes opened a little at a time. where was she? she couldn't see much. there was a faint hint of light from a tiny window. she looked around but everything else was shrouded in darkness. she heard a chair scraping across the floor and then footsteps. her eyes couldn't focus from the pain surging through her brain. his voice seemed familiar but she just couldn't focus on who he was. "I told you that you were mine. rest. tomorrow will be interesting." she heard the person get up and walk away as a door shut behind him. then darkness over took her again.
blinding light came seeping in the tiny window lighting up the small room she was in. her wrists were tied together behind her back. there was a rubbing pain were they were tied. "ugh," Emma moaned as she tried to sit up on the wall in the room she was being held in. she looked around taking in her surroundings. there wasn't much. the room was fairly empty and there was only one door in and out and one small window. she had no clue what she was going to do. no one knew where she was and she wasn't even sure how long she had been gone. a tear fell down her cheek. hopefully Xavier was OK. she wouldn't forgive herself if he wasn't. she heard a door open and shut and the shuffling of feet walking towards her.
"well, well, well if it isn't my Emma. told you that you were only mine. hope you are comfortable. you will be joining me today for your new accommodations. " she couldn't see his face yet but the voice seemed so familiar. what was it about that voice?
" who are you?" Emma's voice was small and hoarse. her throat was dry. he must have used something on her. she watched as he came into full view of her. "oh my God!" Her face hid nothing. shock. she started trembling at the person standing in front of her. never would she have thought he would be standing in front of her right now. he was the last person she ever thought would kidnap her or for that matter follow her. "w-whhhat are you doing? where is my son?" her words were stumbling over the other as she barely got them out of her mouth.
he reached over putting tape over her mouth. he slapped her across the face, the sting felt even in her head. " shut up you b***h!" a sick smile spread across his face as he kissed the duct tape on her mouth. " did you miss me?" his laugh made her stomach sick. she knew she was in trouble. she knew she needed help. she closed her eyes taking in a deep breath from her nose. the pounding was relentless. 'crap! I'm alone!' she thought. she heard him get up and walk out of the room.
she opened her eyes looking around again. she was desperate and needed a plan. out of the corner of her eye she spotted something. it was sharp enough she could scoot over and try to cut the ropes on her wrists. the metal sticking up from the floor was sharp and rusty but at this point she had no other plan. she needed to escape. she could feel the ropes burning her wrists as she rubbed the rope. it felt like it was taking forever as she slowly cut through her restraints. "please God help me get out of here. I need you." she felt her ropes give as she finally cut through them. she removed the tape from her mouth and tried standing. she felt her body go limp as she fell back down to the ground. whatever he had given her making her legs feel weak. "Come on Emma you can do this. there is no way he gets to win." she was silently willing herself off the ground. she let herself rest on the wall while she got herself together. her head was spinning out of control. she closed her eyes laying her head against the wall trying to get her head to stop. she needed to try and push past this. it was her only way out of wherever she was. she pushed herself off the wall making her way to the only door in the room. she had to get out of there before he came back. she slowly reached for the nob pulling it open trying to not draw attention to herself. she closed her eyes and pushed her way through the door looking around to see if anyone was there. the silence was killing her. something was wrong and she wasn't sure how to interpret it. taking a deep breath she made her way down a long hall. she wasn't sure where she was going but she was driven with a need to get out. her body was protesting her every move but she refused to give up. giving up meant letting him win and she couldn't do that. there was no way he could win. once down the hall she peered around the corner looking left then right. no one was there. something didn't feel right. there was a door to her right and she decided to go for it. quickly pushing herself to move forward she made it to the door and tried opening it hoping and praying this was her way out.
