“I’m glad she was able to pass it to me, too,” I tell David softly, unsure how I feel about the entire situation. I’ve not had a chance to speak with Lily alone about David, and she’s probably the one person I need to speak with. Everyone hates him, but from what he’s told me, Lily won’t, and I’m not sure if I want to know what she has to say about him.
“You’ll pass this to Princess Cora someday,” he says with a smile as he places it on the shelf. “I’m glad that she got that. I never knew him, but from everything I’ve ever heard about Benjamin, he’s a good man. I’m glad she’s safe.”
I’m suddenly uncomfortable with how familiar he seems, even when I don’t know him at all, so I change the subject. “I spoke to my parents about you. To my mom.”
