Delilah's mansion
Lilah's pov
it has been two weeks I heard from Mel after her report on Lucas. I wonder what she is doing which hasn't made her reach out to me yet and her parents keep calling, hopefully I won't run out of excuses until her return.
Has she gotten herself on trouble and is now being tortured or has I cover being blown... I hope she is okay.
Miles Office
Miles sat serenely, shrouded in an aura of calmness and mystery, as he gazed out the window at the cityscape below. His tranquil demeanor belied an intensity that was palpable, yet indefinable. The soft glow of the evening light danced across his features, casting a mesmerizing spell of intrigue.
Bluey, his secretary, moved with quiet efficiency, as she handed Miles' report into a compelling narrative. Her eyes would occasionally flicker towards Miles, her expression a mixture of curiosity and awe, as if trying to unravel the enigma that was her employer.
The air was thick with an almost palpable sense of anticipation, as if the very fate of the city hung in the balance. Miles' calm exterior seemed to be a beacon, drawing in the turbulence of the world outside, only to absorb it with an unnerving serenity.
In this fleeting moment, Miles embodied the paradox of a stormy sea on a windless day – mysterious, unflappable, and utterly captivating.
"Sir this are the document you asked for regarding the business proposal Julio's company offered, all you have to do is to sign it and I heard your friend is back sir" said Bluey Milo's secretary.
I wouldn't call him my friend after the incident that happened five years ago with my sister and speaking of Melly have you been able to keep tabs on her activities lately , I haven't been able to get a hold of her number this past few weeks .
Every time I call Lilah she would always tell me they are either hanging out or busy with school projects . Although I know she is still mad at me for not standing up for her during her argument with mum and dad.
I haven't been supportive of her dreams since that incident at least I could look out for her especially now that he is back,he would surely look for her not knowing the damage he has caused to the extent of going to the psychiatrist and using hypnotherapy in her, Poor Melly.
Placid mansion
The nightmare
Mel's fragile body lay motionless on the bed, her chest rising and falling with each shallow breath. The drinking ceremony allergy accident had left her weakened, and despite the best efforts of her medical team, she hadn't been responding to treatment.
The memories of that fateful night five years ago still lingered, haunting her dreams. The mafia raid, the chaos, the feeling of being trapped and helpless. And then, the person she tried to save, the one she thought was innocent... the way they stabbed her with a knife, slashed her back, and left her for dead.
Mel's eyes fluttered open, her mind foggy from the nightmare. Lucas was by her side, his eyes filled with concern.
"Hey, are you okay?" he asked, his voice soft.
Mel nodded weakly, trying to calm her racing heart. Lucas's presence was comforting, but she couldn't shake off the feeling that he was hiding something from her.
There was a strange, familiar feeling she got whenever Lucas was around, like she had known him before, but couldn't quite place him. Mel pushed the thought aside, focusing on the concern etched on Lucas's face.
As the evening wore on, Mel heard the sound of footsteps outside her room. Miles had arrived at the mansion, and Mel couldn't help but feel a sense of unease.
Miles Visit
Miles stepped out of the grand foyer and into the warm evening air, his eyes scanning the manicured lawns of the mansion. The same old feeling to guilt towards Melly because of his inability to protect her during the accident washed over him.
As he walked towards the maid's quarters, he spotted Lucas standing outside, his eyes fixed intently on something. Miles followed his gaze and saw a girl emerging from the doorway. She was dressed in a simple maid's uniform, her hair tied back in a neat bun. But there was something about her that caught Miles' attention - a fleeting glimpse of familiarity that he couldn't quite place.
The girl's eyes met Miles', and for a moment, they just stared at each other. Lucas, sensing the tension, stepped forward, his voice firm. "I think it's time for you to get back to your duties," he said, his eyes locked on the girl.
The girl nodded, her eyes never leaving Miles', before turning and disappearing back into the doorway. Miles watched her go, his mind reeling with questions. Who was that girl? And why did she seem so familiar?
Lucas turned to Miles, his expression neutral. "What brings you here?" he asked, his voice smooth.
Miles shook his head, trying to clear the cobwebs. "I just wanted to check in on you, heard you were back," he said, his eyes still fixed on the doorway where the girl had disappeared.
Lucas nodded, his eyes narrowing slightly. "She's still recovering," he said. "But I think she'll be okay."
Miles nodded, his mind still reeling with thoughts of the mysterious girl. He couldn't shake the feeling that he had seen her before, that she was somehow connected to him. But how?
He called Lilah, Mel's best friend to confirm his suspicions."Hey, Miles," she said, her voice bright. " Why did you call?" "I just wanted to check up on Melly since she is not answering my calls " I said. Yeah she's is still pissed about what happened but she is excited to spend the summer with me." Lilah answer
Miles' eyes narrowed, his mind racing with questions. Spend the summer with Lilah? But what about the girl he had just seen? Was she somehow connected to Mel?
He turned to Lucas, his eyes locked on his. "Do you know anything about a girl who works here?" he asked, his voice low.
Lucas' expression was neutral, but Miles could sense a flicker of tension behind his eyes. "I don't know what you're talking about," he said, his voice smooth.
Miles' eyes narrowed, his mind racing with questions. What was going on here? And who was that mysterious girl?
In the courtyard
Lucas stood before Miles, his eyes burning with a mix of emotions - curiosity, concern, and a hint of desperation. He took a deep breath, steeling himself for the conversation.
"Miles, I need to know," Lucas began, his voice low and urgent. "Who was the girl who saved me five years ago? What happened to her after... after she was brutalized in this very courtyard?"
Miles' expression remained impassive, his eyes fixed on some point beyond Lucas' shoulder. Lucas pressed on, his words tumbling out in a rush.
"I've tried to remember, but my memories are hazy. Fragments of a face, a voice, a feeling of safety. But the more I try to recall, the more it slips away. And the courtyard... it holds so many secrets, so much pain."
Lucas' gaze locked onto Miles', searching for any hint of response, any crack in his stoic facade. But Miles remained unmoving, his silence a palpable force that pushed Lucas away.
The air seemed to vibrate with tension, heavy with the weight of unspoken secrets. Lucas' words hung in the balance, suspended between the desire to know and the fear of uncovering truths better left unspoken.
