Leaving the operating room, I headed straight for the hospital director's office. What my colleague had told me seemed illogical. Annie had never been irresponsible, so I didn't trust the information circulating around the hospital.
"Good afternoon, I'd like to speak with Dr. Vargas. Is he available?" The chief's assistant smiled at me flirtatiously. Nothing could stop the women from harassing me now, and this girl was proof. I tried to appear cold; I wasn't in the mood.
"Of course, Doctor, let me inform him." She called him, and when she hung up, she told me I could go in.
Upon entering, the older man stood up to greet me.
"Dr. Donovan, how are you? What can I do for you?" Something told me he knew why I was there, but he was trying to delay the explanations.
