“Red! You’re here!” someone excitedly said as soon as I stepped inside the club. My head automatically directed where the high pitched voice came from. I saw a few ladies walking in my direction and a smile immediately wounded on my lips.
“Good evening, ladies,” I greeted them with a smile. Their squeal made a few more people I know flock in my direction, asking if I was alone or not or inviting me to join their group if I wanted.
“Sorry… my friends are here.” I declined politely before I started bidding my farewell and went straight to the direction of the stairs.
My friends are seated on our usual spot on the second floor. And from my position, it was not surprising to see that Vlad and Ian was not around. I only saw Shade, Dimitri and Fire.
Well, Crimson’s absence is understandable. As for Vlad, maybe he’s still at home, asleep, and hasn’t read my message yet. Or, he’s in his duty to protect the country. Knowing him.
Now that I remember it, the five of us are scheduled to fly to one of the exclusive islands here in the country tomorrow afternoon. Ian’s marriage to Sofia would be held there. And of course, as his best man, I shouldn’t miss the wedding, right?
I am still in awe that someone like Crimson would actually marry. My uptight friend had found its match. I could still remember the days how he spat that it's impossible for him to know what love is and yet… I shook my head in disbelief.
No wonder that Dark was not in the mood these days.
Speaking of marriage, how the hell would I find a wife of my own who possesses such description from what I had told my parents?
Well, this is the reason why I had call the others. They might know some women who works abroad and possesses the description I am finding. I have a few women I know, yet I decline to ask a favor to them since my mother knows most of my women colleagues.
I need to find one who is a complete stranger to me as much as possible. Knowing the antics of my mother, I know that she might start on digging about my ‘wife’ especially if she is too curious.
“Hi Red!” a few ladies appeared again from the dark just to say their greetings to me. I smiled at the woman and waved my hands.
I was busy giving back some greetings to other people. It was understandable that most looked so pleased with my presence since… it’s been a while since I visited this club. I have been very busy in work just to clear my schedule for the next week for my best friend’s wedding.
I was occupied with the crowd for a while that I did not notice someone was actually heading along my way. I could feel her presence behind me as I slowly made a few steps backward.
I am confident that I can evade from bumping the woman. I have a good reflex. Yet… it seemed that I was too confident that it did not occur to me that there were… distractions along the way.
A sweet scent suddenly entered the range of my ‘ability’. As soon as that scent lingers in my entire system, I suddenly felt the familiar rhythm on my chest. This kind of rush always happens if there is a woman possessing exquisite blood is nearby.
I inhaled a deep breath with shut eyes. I assesses the scent despite the mix smell of cigarettes and alcohol of the club. And the rush I was feeling continued to… worsen. I was suddenly feeling the uneasiness, the haste, and the impatience.
It was as if a beast in me that I never knew existed had been awaken.
The scent was different… It was different from the usual scent I identify from the usual women I have been with. The scent is indeed sweet, yet it was mentally telling me that this blood possesses something more from the usual taste of the women’s blood.
I made a hard swallow. My mouth was suddenly watering at the thought of tasting this kind of blood. I mentally pinpoint where the scent was coming from. It’s coming from my behind. And when I figured out that it was from the woman whom I was about to collide, instead of my plan evading our collision, I let the bump happen.
The impact was quick, probably in the eyes of ordinary human. But before my eyes, everything happened so slow. I saw how the woman’s eyes widened in surprise, how the impact made her take a few steps back and almost losing her balance. And I specifically did that just so I could get a hold of her to finally know the scent of her blood.
I quickly wrapped my hands on her waist. I leaned my face closer to her neck. And for no apparent reason, the woman’s blood-scent was starting to make my thoughts hazy.
It was like… the scent of her blood was… too much for me.
A scent that was forbidden for the vampires, an aphrodisiac or like a drug that you’ll get addicted to and your system will search for more and begged to have a taste.
I was starting to feel that those kind of feeling. I was suddenly losing my patience that I had this urge to drag the woman out of this club and bring her to the nearest hotel just so I could sink my fangs on her beautiful long neck. And it was starting to make me think of unadulterated things that I would do if I manage to seduce her tonight.
The thought of her hair spread on the sheets suddenly excites me. The desire to hold her and pinned her down on the bed made my blood rush. I could feel every beat of my pulse in my body. And to be honest, this has never happened to me before.
I was never feeling the excitement for a woman’s blood. Well, maybe I did. But not up to the point that I would suddenly plot a plan on how to get her… desperately.
I leaned closer just so I could smell her blood-scent more. It made me forget that I was in a crowd and only thinking how sweet her blood would be.
If it was not for a voice ringing on my head, I might end up revealing the secret that our clan was keeping for centuries.
‘What the fvck, Lawrence?! Let go of the woman!’ Fire’s voice broke out the thoughts on my head.
‘Dare to sank that fangs of yours and I will be the first one to kill you,’ Dimitri threatened. I blinked a few times and it was just then when I realized what was happening.
Fvck!
“I’m sorry, miss…” I said with immense control as I let the woman go and immediately put a distance between us.
“No. No. It’s my fault.” She said while shaking her head. I clicked my head on my side when I heard her voice. It was soft and… sweet. I don’t know the reason but it feels like she was seducing me with it!
Fvcking d-mn it!
It took us awhile before both agreed that no one was at fault. And I don’t think that I could still get a hold of my control if I remained and continued to have an exchange of words with that… woman.
I needed to get a grip of myself. I need to rein over the sudden need and thirst I am having.
I was trying my best not to look back. I was trying my best to focus on my path. Yet… the scent of that woman’s blood is something… else.
I inhaled a deep breath. I did that to somehow even my breathing, to ease the sudden tension of my body. I could feel my impatience rising that I needed an immediate way to calm myself.
Fvcking d-mn it!
Get a grip of yourself, Red!
I won’t deny the fact that I was… salivating for that woman’s blood. It was my very first time to smell such blood-scent like hers. I know right away that ‘that woman’ was not a regular of the club. If she was… I would have probably known her in the first place. I would have seduced her and made her my woman.
This is her first appearance here… or there might be a chance that she was here when I was not around.
I clicked my neck and clenched my fist as I continued to climb the stairs. My thoughts are in haze when I saw my friends seated on our usual spot in the second floor of the club.
Fire and Dimitri’s menacing gaze was the first thing that greeted me as soon as I arrived near their table. The deep crease in their forehead and the quick change of their eye-color from red back to original was enough way to show that they were displeased of what just happened. I glanced at Shade who seemed more interested on the alcoholic drink he’s holding.
“What was that?” Fire asked grimly with his jaw clenching together.
I exhaled a deep breath and took the vacant seat near him.
“Nothing.” I simply replied and called out for the waitress passing us by. And after I gave out my order, I immediately dismissed the waitress. I noticed her sending some passing but it seemed I had lost my interest to find some dinner for tonight after what had happened.
“You called that nothing?” Dimitri reprimanded. “You almost sink your fangs on her neck, Red. We sensed you almost losing your control.”
I exhaled another deep breath then shot him a glance.
“At least I manage to control myself, right?” I said nonchalantly. He looked at me with disbelief in his eyes.
“The fvck did you just said?” Fire hissed. I returned my attention to him and his expression darkened even more.
“Calm the fvck down. It was not as if I have revealed our secret to the public,” I pursed.
Fire shifted on his seat, bothered with my response. “So… you’re telling me that you—”
“It was not an intention, alright?” I interrupted before he could even finish what he has to say. “You think I intended to reveal our secret? That’s fvcking svicide and I’m not insane enough to do that. I was just…” I stopped when I realized what I was about to tell them.
If I tell them that I sensed someone’s blood as exquisite as a fvcking aged wine, this three friends of mine would actually conclude something outrageous.
It was a theory that Shade randomly thought of one time when we were talking about how Ian suddenly got interested with Sofia. Of course, Ian knows about that theory and he won’t deny the fact that the theory, indeed, might have to do something on how he was crazy in love with his future wife.
Telling them that information would immediately made them conclude things. So, it’s better to shut my mouth off.
Fire and Dim looked at me with anticipation. Their expression was enough to tell me that they were actually looking forward to what I was going to say. I had a plan on ignoring them if it was not for Shade, suddenly giving off some of his opinion on the matter at hand.
“Let me guess,” he suddenly said which made us looked in his direction. “That woman you collided earlier has exquisite scent of blood?” he finished while his whole attention was on the glass of whiskey on his hand.
I straightened my back upon hearing that.
“How did you know?” I asked with deep furrow. I was starting to lose my cool. How did he know that? Is he using he smartly analyzing the situation once again? Just like how he suddenly came up with his ‘Exquisite-Blood Theory’?
Or was it something else? An idea immediately comes into my mind. I shifted on my seat, suddenly feeling unease for unknown reason.
Could he also…
“Before you would even conclude that I can tell that woman’s blood-scent, then I’ll tell you that you only has that ability, Red.” Shade said as he dragged his gaze toward my direction.
“Your behavior earlier was enough to let me conclude something was up when we sensed you were losing your cool,” he added with a smirk playing on his lips.
“So… that woman is…?” Fire trailed off. He glanced at Shade meaningfully. And despite the silent communication of the two, I immediately know what they are trying to tell me.
“Shut the fvck up, Fire. There’s no way that she’s the one just because of her blood,” I spat angrily. This is the reason I don’t like to tell them that the woman I had collided with has sweet scent of blood. Too sweet for the usual taste I am having every other night.
“Well, that theory is only a theory, Red.” Dim interjected. The seriousness in his expression was already gone. And a playful smirk was now wounding his lips. He was not even trying to hide the interest in his face.
“Crimson does not deny the early symptoms but there’s no harm if you happen to confirm it along the way,” Dim added. I shot him a glare. He instantly put his hands up into the air, as if he was surrendering to my threat.
“Easy. I was just trying to tell you that the possibilities are not impossible, Red.”
“Shut your mouth, Dimitri. I have no time for your mind games,” I threatened. Dimitri immediately pressed his lips together. He even draw an imaginary line near his lips, like he was showing me that he would finally shut his mouth by visually zipping it.
I just shook my head in defeat.
Fire and Dim finally shut their mouth after that. What Shade had guess had somehow distracted them at the thought that I almost revealed the clan’s secret.
“So… what’s the 911?” Dimitri asked after a while when everyone has calmed down.
I languidly poured another shot of whiskey on my glass. I downed it in one gulped. The strong and burning taste immediately spreads on my mouth and run down my throat. It took me a few moments before I decided to bring out the reason I called them to meet up here.
“I told my mother I have a wife…” I started. The three of them remained silent. But seeing Shade finally looking at me after opening the topic, I finally told them everything about what had happened at the dinner. And when I was done, Fire immediately shared his solution.
“Well, I’ll try to contact a relative of mine. But I can’t promise that she would agree in engaging in your plans. She knows you that you’re whore.”
I looked at Fire in disbelief. “Is that a fvcking compliment?” I hissed.
Fire shrugged his shoulders. “Well, what can I do? You were titled the ultimate playboy among the six of us, Red. It was not my fault that many woman weep on your feet.”
“Wow. Don’t act like a saint, Fire. Everyone here knows that I am not the only one who plays with women,” I said in distaste then glance at Dimitri. He immediately averted his gaze somewhere else and took a sip on his shot of drink, like he was avoiding himself to be involve on the small fight that was brewing between me and Fire.
Fire let out a soft chuckle. That made me looked back in his direction.
“Well. We are, indeed, birds with the same feathers . But you’re the worst among us, Red. Don’t deny it. It was already a miracle that Dark is not giving you a warning for changing countless of woman in a week.
My eyes narrowed in his direction. Fire did not even looked guilty with his words. Then he poured himself a drink. When he was done, he raised his glass to me, as if he was giving me a toast for what he just had said earlier.
Instead of letting the argument heated further, I busied myself with alcohol and distracted myself with a few women passing by our table. Well, its not that I am denying that I change women frequently like how I change my clothes. Involving myself with them was a need since vampires can’t survive without drinking the blood of their opposite s*x.
And Fire was right that it was a miracle that Dark was not sending me warnings of being with countless of women in a week.
I exhaled another set of deep breath. Well, that’s the least of my concern now.
A few ladies started to flock on our direction. Some were inviting us to party with them. Knowing Fire and Dim, of course they would accepted some invitations. Shade, on the other hand, was focused on his alcoholic drink. He was staring at the glass. Seeing his expression, it seemed that he’s in deep thoughts.
My hunch was confirmed when two woman tried to get his attention but he did not turned to any one of them and continued to stare at the glass of his drink like it was more interesting than the women beside him.
To be honest, seeing Shade in deep thought was a surprise to me. This has never happened before. For some reason, I sensed that he has problems of his own. When I tried to talk it out, he refuse to open up.
And I respect his decision and privacy.
But after a while, it seemed that Shade has other things to do despite the time already passing midnight.
“Red.” Shade called when we were silent after a few minutes. I quickly lifted my head then noticed him standing from his seat.
“Where are you going?” I immediately asked as I follow him getting his things on the table.
“I have some emergency. I need to go. I have already send a message to Ignis and Dimitri but please tell them that I’ll leave first,” he said with his serious voice. My eyes remained at him for a while, trying to figure out the reason of his sudden leave.
Shade meet my gaze and in one look, I could tell that this emergency of his does not concern about his personal life nor his… work.
“Alright, I’ll tell the two. You should leave now.” I say to him.
Shade did not say another word before leaving. In span of minute, I was left alone on our table.
And being alone became an opportunity for the women to flock my table and try their luck on me.
On normal occasions, I might end up choosing the best woman in front of me with the best scent of blood. I would spend my usual night with her, giving her the greatest pleasure and enjoying the her blood in return.
Yet, the thought of doing the same to the woman I collided earlier made me curious beyond imagination. I could not help but think what would be the taste of her blood once she would satisfied with my carnal efforts. Would it be as sweet and fine as it would be or more than that?
I wanted to know. And in order to do that, I need to have her. Even just a taste might be enough.
All I needed is to seduce her and be with me tonight.
It was the peak hours where most of the people are already intoxicated with the alcohol. It seemed that luck was smiling on my path when I saw the woman dancing in the middle of the dance floor from my seat. When I got a smell of her blood once more, I was not able to refrain myself from coming near her.
Before I knew it, I found myself slipping my hands on her naked waist. The very moment my fingertips touched her skin, I knew right away that I needed to taste her blood no matter what.
I tried to seduce her with all that I have. Touch, words, compliments. But damn, it seems that everything I did has no effect on her!
“No. I’m sorry but I’m no easy woman.” She said despite the fact that I could already smell her desire for me. She tried to push me back. I saw how her hands trembled, like that small gesture is telling me she was trying her best not to be affected by me.
I bit my lower lip. The excitement and desire that I had for her burned even more.
Fvck. What is this?
“You sure?” I said in a very deep and hoarse voice. I have used that to countless women and they always fell for my trap.
“S-Still a no,” she replied. My forehead is already leaning against her. My eyes were now locked on her cherry lips. I made a hard swallow. Her scent continued to linger in my system.
“I promise I will give you the best night,” I continued as a bargain.
And the fact that it was making my thoughts haze and think of so much that I can do with her on the bed made me tremble. It was already a miracle that I manage to last a few more minutes reigning over my control.
She was silent after that. The desire she was feeling became more stronger. I continued to draw circles on naked waist, enticing her more to agree on my proposal.
But d-mn… she was not an easy woman.
“You’re an honest for a playboy like you,” she suddenly said. That made me lift my eyes to meet her gaze. Her beautiful almond eyes immediately met mine. And this time, she completely pushed me away and release herself from my hold. It seemed that she managed to break free from the spell that I had casted just so she could give in to me.
I tried to get a hold of her once again but she stopped my hand with hers. Her remaining hand then reached for my jaw. I was caught-off guard with what she had done. Especially on the next thing she did.
She tiptoed and leaned her face closer to me. Before I knew it, she was already giving me a swift kiss. It was too quick that I was still in the state of shock when she stepped away and looked back into my eyes for one last time.
“But then, I know enough that I should not involve myself for the likes of you. Nice meeting you, Red.” She said with a small smile before she turned her back and disappeared in the crowd.
If it was not for her scent disappearing on my system, I might end up rooted on my place and stood in the middle of the dance floor, still lost of what had happened.
I clenched my fist when I recalled how the woman managed to get away from me.
Well, for sure this night won’t be the last time of our encounter. I’ll make sure that I will find her and have her… even if it means of finding her in every corner of this world.
But d-mn, I did not even get her name.
