Under His Spell (Book 1 of the Avec Series)

 Many, many years before you were born    Hemera and Selene meet only twice a day but are best of friends. They looked down at the destruction shaking their heads sadly. Bodies, strewn about the tumultuous scene below them, causing them both heartache.      "This has got to end, the losses are too great on both sides," Hemera said. The clouds of sadness starting to cover her face, making it look as if a storm were brewing.      Selene put a glowing silver hand out to her friend trying to comfort her,  knowing she can only get so close to her before it would cause an eclipse.      "I agree my golden friend, I feel for you as you must watch helplessly as they fight over nothing more than an accident. I only see the mourning that occurs as they find their losses and take care of their dead and dying. We must find a way to help them " Selene said trying her best to comfort her friend.      A plan slowly begins to form in Hemera's mind and Selene understands as she knows what she must do as well.      Selene pens a letter to Eramus, clan leader of the night shifters as Hemera begins one to Morgana, queen of the witches.      Selene sent her message to Eramus by way of a beautiful black owl with silver-tipped wings. The owl flew straight to his intended person. Looking at him with curiosity, the owl unable to comprehend why humans would ever fight like this.      "Who," it said softly as he perched above Eramus. He was sitting solemnly in front of the bonfire started to care for his dead. The grief and despair radiating from Eramus, he looked up as the glowing parchment drifted softly to his lap, sealed with moon-shaped silver wax.         "Eramus, your fighting, and destruction must end. I will be sending you a gift. This gift must be protected and cherished until the time is right. Selene".      The next morning Morgana opened the window to her room, allowing the sun to fill it. This being the only time she actually felt any warmth since her child and husband were taken from her by those cursed night shifters. She looked out to see a big black crow with golden feathers interspersed on its back, sitting on her window sill, a piece of glowing parchment in its beak. Clearly a messenger of Herema goddess of the sun. She looked at curiously as the bird dropped its message and flew away with a caw. The golden sun seal shining in the sunlight.     "Morgana, the fighting will end. I am sending you a gift to help you fix this. The destruction is too much. Hemera"     Morgana shook her head wryly and laughed at the note."This will never end. They took my child and my husband from me! I will not rest until I am either dead or happy again. And I will never be happy again." with that she made sure to curse any female that is destined to end this war from being happy or finding their happiness. When she made the curse, she caressed the small bump forming in her belly. She didn't have the heart to curse the males.
