Chapter 4 “Wade!” Jesse grabbed Wade’s shoulders as the man thrashed next to him in the rumpled sheets of the bed. “Wake-up, Wade. You’re dreaming,” he said, trying to keep his voice soft, yet firm enough to make an impact over the wild flailing and erratic shouts. The words Wade yelled were unintelligible, but Jesse could feel the pain running through them. Somewhere in Wade’s mind, he was caught in a horrific memory, and all Jesse could do was watch him suffer. The room was dark except for a sliver of moonlight from the nearby window, but it was enough for Jesse to see Wade’s face twist in agony, each sorrowful expression like a vice squeezing Jesse’s heart.
